I carry a ton of first aid gear in my vehicle, and the thing that's gotten the most use is the eye-magnet. One of the flat, chrome-plated discs with a telescoping wand attached, like you buy at an auto parts store. Get the biggest one they have. You don't need to extend it, but it's a wand that pulls tiny, metal shrapnel out of somebody's eye like magic. Not sure if that's considered legitimate or not, but I've had a couple of grateful technicians that appreciated it.
Just saw this. I know it’s a couple of years old and likely you’ve tailored your kit here and there. A few extra suggestions: Naproxen (Aleve) is a little better than Motrin as your one go to anti-inflammatory. Add a couple of rolls of Coban by 3m. Wrapping a splint or bandage with coban is the way to go and no tape is necessary. Add some non-sterile 4x4’s, about 2” thick worth in a baggie. I’m a 36 year paramedic in North County SD and have learned what’s useful and practical over the years. Your kit is very good and your experience shows. A small bottle of hydrogen peroxide and a small bottle of saline can also be useful. A eye flush kit would be another good add on along with about 6 pairs of nitrile gloves. If the topic ever comes up, do not bother with a snakebite kit. They are useless. There is nothing in those kits that EMS ever uses. I love your videos. I’m about to retire and plan on venturing out with my YJ soon.
Thank you for your service. I am proud for all the men that sever. Thank you for your in sight of all the medical supplies that you shower. I look on pinterest and they never really tell you what medical supplies to get, they show a picture and you can't tell what it is. Can hardly wait to see the next episode.
As a firefighter/EMT who is also going to school to obtain his paramedic, I'm super excited to see what other people cry in their kit. It's a top priority for me to have mine in the jeep and it's the first thing I recommend to people who are looking for that "first mod."
Sir, thank you for your service. I am a piece of shit who quit the Marine Corps after 2 weeks, couldn't handle it. I think your video is awesome, I will make my kit based on yours. thanks again
Excellent presentation. Former Marine here, and always trusted our Docs. Thanks brother. I used to carry a CLS bag in the back of my TJ when I was out in Southern California, but now that I've been transplanted to the East Coast, I need to build up my first aid/trauma bag for my new (to me) JKUR.
Just a Navy Brat here but my Father was Corpsmen ... one of the Marines few good men . and i think he would me pleased with your video . im buying my 2nd my medic kit for the new toy. thank you PS whats for dinner Marco?
Two of the first things that went into our rig, first aid and recovery gear. The wife put both bags together, the first started as one of those deluxe kits for like 50$ then we added to it and put it in another bag. Great video!
Thanks for the review. The other day my wife and I ran ran into a underground hornets nest. While running away she did her ankle in as she fell down an embankment. I had two first aid kits. My plastic box ouchie band aid kit and an IFAC for bullet holes/ mass trauma. Pretty much useless in the moment. A SAM splint with wrap and some benadryl would of saved the day. all of the items you have in your kit are spot on.
Great great video Doc, I've been following you for years and just love everything you have done to your jeep. Looking forward to more of these Fist Aid Videos, keep it up and Semper Fi!
Not sure if you will see this or not but: Love this video and was looking around for more on first aid, have you made more than just this one and the one on the MyMedic? Thanks
Hey Brad great video look forward to the rest of the first aid videos. I also built my own kit also based on the 5.11 bag. It a great bag. Looking at your included items I was wondering why a few Celox 2g blood clotting packets weren't included. The fact that you were a Navy corpsman makes me value your thoughts/advise.
Step one: bring a corpsman. Any suggested add ons if you plan on doing a lot of shooting? My marine buds and I meet up and do a lot of tactical shooting.
Great video! Makes me want to re look at my first aid kit. And I would like to thank you for your service. Keep up the awesome videos can't wait for the rest of the series
Well, I have a first aid kit, problem is I can't tell you what's in it...think I better change THAT! Thank you, look forward to learning more as this series continues. :)
This was really a good video. Thanks! I am going to suggest to our Jeep club that they look at this. Do you have an opinion on the SmittyBilt medic bag vs the 5.11 that you showed? I have the SmittyBilt tail gate cover? The 5.11 bag should work on that.
Man, one of these days I'm going to do more of these.... jus not enough hours in my day. Haven't had my hands on the Smittybilt bag, but I'm sure it's good quality, have several Smittybilt products that I love. Thanks!
+Bubbas Garage Vlogs Glad I could help. After watching the video back, I realized I need to a a pen light. The bag had a spot right in the middle that it will hook onto.
Amazing video mate. You know, I'm actually trying to become a Corpsman too for the Navy after my graduation in June this year. I am currently studying to get the required score on the ASVAB so I can get the job. Thanks pal!
Hey. Great stuff. Thanks! Just getting around to seeing this as I prep for my upcoming trip. I have a pretty solid kit from justice off-road, but I'm looking to get a wilderness first aid book for the trip... Just so I have a reference in case I have no internet. Do you have any recommendations for a good reference book? Thanks!
I'm a big fan of pocket style first aid guides. They are compact, straight forward and easy to reference quickly. Wilderness First Aid: A Pocket Guide by Paul G. Gill is a pretty good basic book and sells on amazon for around $10. Hope this helps. Good luck on your trip and thanks for watching!
Having a first aid kit is great , here in germany it's a must. But even better than having one is the knolledge how to use it. So i think everybody should take a first aid class in regular intervals. And i would be careful giving the medication to people as long as i don't know there medical history. For example ibuprefen should not be used on people with liver problems.
HMCM, *salute* I know, I know, but I'd rather salute an E9 Corpsman then most of the doctors I worked with when I was in the Navy. Everyone looks up to an HMCM!

I know this is a few years old but always a good review. Thanks you Regina and your family so much for your years of service. Greatly appreciated!!
Thank you so much!
Outstanding list of gear for a basic med kit. Thanks for your service from a former Marine. Scott

All great suggestions and thank you for the hard work you have done over the last 36 years!
thanks for the input and thank you for your 36 years of serving injured people with your expertise in the medical field.
I hope you continue to do first aid videos. Thanks for the video, Brad!
You should do a channel on just first aid. I learn so much from you and you’re a great teacher. Thank you!

good looking kit. I myself keep a second small kit with just the most common things in it that are needed more often
Just having some basic gear can make a big difference.... you never know when you are going to need it.
If you don't mind a suggestion on what to add I think you should also have some hemostatic dressing and a Mylar blanket! Hope I can help!

I am surprised you don't carry any barrier or mask for CPR/rescue breathing. I would take that over the oximeter if I had to choose.
Duct tape many uses. Keep a roll in my kit.
Go green side Navy, My corpsmen were the absolute best when i was in Iraq.
Oorah! Thank you for your service!
Are you going to continue doing first aid videos
Did you continue into an episode 2? I don't see it
No, sorry... one of these days.
What happened to part 2

motrin and water right doc. lol
Rub some dirt on it and suck it up.... I may or may not have said that to a Marine or two in my time! :)
Great !
+Braaap Studio Rescue and 4x4 Channel Thank you!

Ok, saving comments until I see the how to video.

If that’s what you call a good offroad fist aid kit I hope you never need it
