I'm a 68 year old Blacksmith and Timber Framer. I m building a timber frame mountain lodge style cabin for my wife and I to "retire" after renting our entire lives. Our sons are helping us build. We've milled all the timbers and lumber ourselves on a small sawmill. The greatest adventure of my life. The key to longevity? Love what you do, love who you're with, follow your dreams and look forward to tomorrows adventure. It's not the destination that gives you joy but the journey getting there.
I need a hip replacement surgeon won’t operate due to problems but I am in constant daily pain. I am 80years old and try to look after myself as best I can but I cannot get out of the house my family do not live near so I just have to struggle along

Good for you. Stay active.
Not many perfectly healthy 70-year-olds walk two miles a day. Great! Keep it up!

Fantastic! Always stay young.

You are a wise man; no point arguing. My wife, 80, has dozens of bottles stacked in the lower shelf of the fridge we have never used...but she is not going to part with any of it. No point arguing.
I am 85 and keep looking for someone to have a stimulating conversation with because I miss that so much since my husband died.

Retirement is a great thing-& it can be a major challenge until you open your mind to the possibilities! Now you're the Boss. You can explore all the areas you were curious about when you were working but didn't have the time. Don't let your working life define you. Write ,Draw &/or paint, learn to play a musical instrument-or several! Or maybe you have a 'knack'-an undeveloped skill you've been curious about, now maybe your chance to explore it ,see where it takes you.
Sorry your lonely. Yes please stay active as much as U can and being with someone is helpful too

I'm 88, hubby's 81 and we're organising our 10th Community Quiz Night for approximately 120 quizees next month.
We prepare the whole evening from questions/answers, ticket sales, table bookings, setting up and running the evening's programme. We have raised funds for our local Red Cross, Country Fire Service, local Sports Oval, Community Club etc . Keeps us both interested in life and our community!
At 75 I decided to not recognize my birthdays anymore so instructed my wife and friends, no more cards please. I walk most mornings for 30 minutes, do most of the cooking and baking for both of us. Do my own oil changes on two vehicles one being an F150. I have various hobbies including wood turning and when something breaks I try to redesign it and come up with a replacement. Very recently we both made a round trip Ontario to Winnipeg by truck, camping on the way there and back doing about 400km each day. I am very grateful for what I can do and do not intend stopping, oh yes, I will be 80 next year.

Please make a plan for your dogs for when you are gone. They are very young and may outlive you. Family members often do want pets and they end up in shelters or in rescues. Some even get euthanized because they are not wanted.
Is it wise and are you aiming to make use and consume most of your savings before death?
I’m basically the same. Almost 67, looking like early 50s, no health issues. Key is taking care of yourself during your prime adult years. You reap the benefits later.
Martha, your energy and zest for life are truly inspiring! 🎉 At 67, you radiate vitality and joy, and it’s clear that you’ve embraced a lifestyle full of activity, fashion, and fun. The way you balance taking care of your granddaughter, enjoying your playful pets, and staying mentally and physically engaged is absolutely remarkable.

I visit the doctor regularly and do not have to take any medications. But, who knows how long one will live. May get hit by a bus tomorrow. I just live life to the fullest, thankful for everything that I have and try to live the dream. I’m not afraid of death because every game ends at some point.

Interesting video. I will be 78 next month and agree with all these attributes. I live alone in the mountains but maintain my home and grounds, love cooking, do my own carpentry, and fix anything that breaks. As a former teacher I still work as a substitute teacher of elementary students from Kindergarten to 5th grade and occasionally teach in our local high school. I really enjoy teaching and working with the students as they will certainly keep you on your toes. In the 4th grade we recently did a field trip to a state park with kayaking, plus the students got to snorkel in a shallow river. They keep you alert for sure! The best lifestyle is one that keeps you moving and socially interactive. Good luck to all enjoying each day!
Thank you for sharing your story-what an inspiring life you lead! It’s amazing how you stay active and engaged, from maintaining your home in the mountains to teaching and taking students on exciting field trips. Your enthusiasm for staying busy and socially interactive is truly admirable.
Would you be willing to share your most important routine tips for staying healthy and vibrant? I’m sure your advice could benefit many others looking to maintain an active lifestyle as they age.
Just turned 69 in August. I’m capable of entertaining myself; find the gossip and judgmental ways of many horrific and I do not subject myself to those energies. I have made choices for myself that maintain a confidence and love for who I am; my beliefs and lessons I have lived in my lifetime, giving me much to share and aid others in their own truths. All that has been my experience of a human being… being human has taught me much and I am always aware of more that I can learn. I’ve no time to seek loneliness as it takes just that… the time you spend in identification of being lonely. I share my wisdoms with my children and have wonderful moments with them when my words gave them a perspective they had not considered. Life is wonderful and just keeps getting better as I enjoy the ah-ha moments realizing the wonder I have identified so many times and it just keep happening when you live in the moment.
Blessings to all here who embrace their curiosity to enjoy their own company.

@@OlderWishdom Many thanks for the reply! I have been thinking about this and am wondering how I could get my duck in a row with distilling our way of life into a reasonably short article. It would be an interesting exercise for us as, to a great extent things have evolved without our having a grand plan. I'll let you know how we get on.
Aging is different for everyone. Just because you do certain things is not a guarantee you remain healthy or live to be 100. Yes, take care of yourself and try to as active as your body allows, but don't expect just because you do all the 'right' things you won't have issues as you get older. Besides, who wants to live to be 100? What is the point?
I agree with what's the point. I am 82 and in excellent health, I practice my classical and flamenco guitars several hours a day. My wife and I enjoy life, play pool, and other games as well as go out to eat. As long as I remain healthy I am happy to be alive. But I have no longevity goals, just to be healthy and happy and take care of my wife. I also have no fear of death, it will be just the same as before I was born, nothingness.
They say "For it is in dying that you are born to eternal life."
CURIOUSITY is the POINT. If you are not a curious person, not interested in life, there is no point, is there?
I completely agree-aging is indeed different for everyone, and staying healthy isn’t guaranteed by simply doing certain things. It's important to take care of yourself and stay as active as your body allows, but also to be realistic about the challenges that come with age.
That said, living a fulfilling life is what truly matters. Do you have any advice on how to maintain a positive outlook and stay engaged, regardless of the challenges that come with aging? Your insights could be really helpful for those striving to find joy and purpose as they get older.
Be a good neighbor, is also positive.
I’m 77. My only child (many miscarriages and a stillbirth) my 53 yr old daughter died in March, two years after one of her children (my grandson was 23). She couldn’t accept his death. I raised her daughter who lost her dad when she was 10. Now she’s lost both parents and one of her only two siblings. My granddaughter moved in with us as she had a breakdown when her brother died. My other grandson is in rehab again. Do you honestly think I can keep going or want to? Only here for the grandchildren and my pets. Golden years? Oh, yeah. Thousands of savings paying two funerals are gone. I’d better take care of myself. I’ve always known that. Don’t want anyone taking care of me. No one ever has.

Also, what do you find most important about creating and teaching this art form? How do you think it could help or inspire others? Your insights could be really valuable for those looking to explore their own creative paths.
@@OlderWishdom had introduction at a psychic art course in Stanstead, at seeing my first attempt the instructor said it would be with me all my life. So I bought a few waxes and tried it at home. Sold out my first cards right away. So I bought a few canvases with the same result and so I had to buy more waxes and tools and went on from there.
great advice
Many thanks indeed.
To extend a healthy life, STAY OFF heavily prescribed high-blood-pressure medication, and EXERCISE. My mom is 90, was a smoker and had a stroke six years ago, and her 'boyfriend' is 98. Both still drive, live separately and look after themselves. I am 69 and still get asked, "Do you qualify for senior discount?"
Your approach to staying healthy is both practical and inspiring! It's amazing to hear about your mom and her boyfriend living so independently and actively. Given your experience, do you have any more advice or tips on maintaining health and vitality, especially for those approaching their later years? Your insights could offer valuable guidance to others looking to stay active and youthful, just like you and your remarkable family.
I'll listen to a doctor instead.
I’m 69 recently I can do all of those things. I’m so grateful. I think if I live to 100 I’ll still be able to do all of those. Yes playful. And nice attitude
Nice and inspiring contents!! Thank u all !! I am 68 and wonder how long my eyes and ears last!! Any insights? Please let me know!!
Thanks.
GOD bless 🙏 🙏 🙏.
I do 10,000 steps per day, just over 3 miles, it's working well for me.
Beautiful.
Excellent ❤❤❤
Thanks for listening
The number of my days He will fulfill.------Biblical quote.
Was this created by a 20 year old that thinks 65 is old? Geez, this is so crazy! I do yoga, just brought a 60 lb piece of exercise equipment into my house that was delivered today, I lift my 34 lb dog into and out of the car too. I walk in the woods, yes over roots and vines without falling!! LOL I cook, clean, do laundry, stretch and can put my tummy on the floor with my legs outstretched and put my shoes on while standing up. Yes, I have that good of balance. I don’t take any meds and never took the shot that was forced on so many. Being in my body is a gift! I wear a two piece bathing suit and yoga pants. I have long blonde hair and love wearing my size 0 short shorts! I may be in my 60’s, but I feel like I’m in my 40’s and no one ever guesses my age correctly. I’m certain my biological age is much lower than my chronological age.
Thank you for sharing your vibrant and inspiring story! It’s clear that you’re embracing life with enthusiasm and staying active and healthy. I want to assure you that my comment is not meant to be rude in any way-it’s intended to spark inspiration and foster a community where people can share and learn from each other's experiences.
Your incredible balance and energy are truly impressive. Do you have any advice or tips for others who want to stay as active and youthful as you? Your experience could be a great source of motivation for those looking to maintain their health and vitality as they age.
100% true ❤❤❤
I forgot, I also play lead guitar and bass at my local church, I'm in the middle of a recording project and basically, I'm A pretty busy ,positive person. I'm working with our local election headquarters for 2024
Submitting everything to Jesus Christ, not mentioned, it the most important way to achieve the rest of this.
Reading so many comments from so many rare gems I no longer feel special😂
You are special as well! ❤️
When your time is up,that’s it, so many “healthy, active” people drop dead to everybody’s surprise, while sloth like people live, go figure.
Certainly, there are various factors at work. Genetics, early years keeping in good trim to create a good
basis for later years, and perhaps, moderation in all things along the way.
I am 77and doy own thing.
I'm 76 don't have any required medications practice languages all the time learn several languages
That’s impressive! At 76, it’s amazing that you’re staying sharp and engaged by learning multiple languages. I’d love to hear any tips you might have for maintaining such mental agility and staying active in learning new things. Your advice could be incredibly helpful for others looking to keep their minds sharp and engaged as they age!
I've found that reuniting with a Colt M16A1 select fire, which I used in Nam, has reinvigorated me in multiple ways! Plus I am a ready for any situation presented to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get my drift
Not sure what this rubbish about eighty is. When I was 14 years, I managed a garage workshop for my father out of School hours. . That was 1961. A man came in and begged a discount WOF [safety inspection] because he said he would lose his driver's licence when he turned 70 in a few months. Another customer whop stood waiting for attentions snorted loudly as the first man departed, "Humphf! he said, I can give him twenty years! Tom had been an Olymp[ic swimmer in his youth, and was there that day to buy petrol to mopw his neighbours lawns. Great lesson in life.
All good but strength training should be included with being physically active and I mean use as much weight as you can doing reps to failure.
The Woodstock generation will take aging well a step further ...
We are well prepared for this.. lol
At 83 I realize that life is a privilege denied to most
I got 5.5. My wife scored 3.5
I tick all the boxes, but my greatest ongoing concern is the truly horrific ongoing genocide being perpetrated by Israel with the West's support in Gaza. Imagine being 70+ there.
How about being 65 and fragging bots in Deathmatch on Quake III Arena or Unreal Tournament at Nightmare difficulty on any map and getting a perfect score? Heh! That’s right boys and girls. Despite my age, and a twitchy trigger finger, the ol’ Widdermaker… he never misses. Mostly. You gotta be quick, anticipate others’ moves, know the level (map), and be deadly accurate. Who knew old PC frag-fest games could help keep one young and alert. BUWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
That’s fantastic! It’s incredible to hear you’re still dominating in Deathmatch and Unreal Tournament at such a high level. It sounds like your quick reflexes and strategic thinking are keeping you sharp and young at heart. I’m curious-are there other 65+ gamers out there still fragging bots and competing at top levels? It would be great to hear from others who are staying active and engaged through gaming! 🎮😄
What a patronising generalisation, if you have good health in your later years you are very lucky, BUT it is not your necessarily your fault if you don't. This is a classic example of how to make people feel bad about themselves. I ardently dislike this practice of labelling people too. We are all individuals and should not be lumped into one group classed as “Seniors”.
😡
I’m truly sorry-that was not my intention at all. I completely understand your perspective, and I agree that health in later years can be influenced by many factors beyond our control. My aim was never to make anyone feel bad or to generalize in a way that feels patronizing. You're absolutely right that we are all individuals and deserve to be seen as such, not just labeled as part of a group. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
@@OlderWishdom You have just shown Older Wisdom. Keep on keeping on.
Wasted almost half of the video in meaningless preamble.
Beneficial video but way too fast.
I will keep that in mind with the next videos, thank you!
