  • Most Fall Prevention experts can agree on similar exercises that will maximize the benefit for Seniors and reduce their risk for an unintended fall. In this video, I discuss the four best exercises that I have used in the field when working with Seniors to keep them strong, mobile and independent. These exercises are easy to do and have proven to show the best results when done on a consistent and progressive basis.
    "Falls among people 65 and older are on the rise. An older adult is treated in the emergnecy room for a fall every 11 seconds, with injuries ranging from simple cuts and bruises to broken bones. Hip fractures are the most serious injury from falls, and more than half of older adults hospitalized for hip fractures after a fall never regain their previous levels of mobility or quality of life." - Harvard Medical School

    I slipped and fell on stairs in my own house in 2018. It took two years to regain my ability to walk straight. I lost my fitness edge at that time and have been working hard to get it back. Thanks for these exercises. I will add them to my regimen. Movement gets easier every day and I believe these will also help.

    I had a hip replacement surgery and I cannot sit slowly I flop down it's like I don't have the strength for it.

      Try this... go as low as you can and hold that position. Count to 5, while in that semi squatted position and then rise and stand. Do that two to three times each time you sit. The following week, try and go a bit lower and the following week even lower than the last until you're able to build up your leg strength and sit slowly without flopping!

      Hi Robin, send me an email and we can talk a little more about your knee. There could be several things taking place but I would need a few more details. Thank you. EmeritusHealth@gmail.com

    How to get back walking after fallout to balance issues

    • @emeritushealth8045
      @emeritushealth8045  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi @cononbrien1753, the answer to that question typically involves a few more questions. But let’s take it as though you’re healthy and balance is the only challenge. Best thing to do is to use a walker or cane and pick out a short distance to walk. Short distance like to the end of an average length drive way. Have a family member or friend help you if you’re not confident.

    How about an oldgoat who now has peripheral nephropathy and a 2x left knee replacement and 4 surgeries? And they say life is a bitch and then you die.🤨

      Sorry to hear that @oldgoat50… Neuropathy is definitely tough to deal with for anyone. Sounds like you may give the “Bionic Man” a run for his money! Whatever you do, try to keep moving. Things in motion, stay in motion! I’m here to help anyway I can.

      It could help for either to a point, but these exercises are targeted at our Senior population. They experience an enormous amount of unintentional falls that lead to immobility and death in too many cases.
