I agree, to a certain extent. But have you been to school? Have you ever read a book? Have you ever travelled? Have you ever been curious to discover something you didn’t know? These aren’t criticisms, just queries. Each quiz I do, I try to retain an answer I didn’t know before. I now have a head full of a lot of useless stuff, unless I play a trivia game, then hopefully I can contribute something when it’s needed. Just have fun with it and don’t moan because the question didn’t suit you, go and find out more about it. It’s like complaining about not knowing the Battle of Hastings, because you weren’t born then, so how are you supposed to know it was 1066?
You've certainly hit the nail on the head. Of the 50 here, I had about 12 wrong, but of those, I think that I actually only missed 2 or 3 that I once knew the answer, the others I never did. So in realty I had 2 or 3 true misses. However, if you ask me questions of a year ago, I'd probably fail most. To be honest I suspect dementia upon me, but maybe it's just old age. I prefer not to know 😬
I am an older person and have made the observation that it is not the short term memory so much but not focussing on the info presented which is not saved. This is then looked at a retrieval issue while I believe it is a savings issue. People do not always listen properly.
I am 79 and like someone above said, the ones I would have known when I was 25, I still know today, but what happened last month, would be difficult. Am still better off than Joe Biden though.

I do not understand why this is looked upon as a memory quiz...if you never knew the answer to some of these questions then not knowing them now has nothing to do with memory. @@peterdegraff1506 It is a straight skirt with no pleats or flare. I was expecting a question for Poodle Skirts. They were totally a circle and usually had a poodle on them, not always. Hi Karen@@karenrevell5354 Thanks for the skirt explanation. As you might observe, I am out of touch with that part of society at this point in life. Surely ,as this was a General Knowledge quiz, all question questions were fair? I managed to get 45 right one or two good guesses but being British I fell down on the foreign ones. Its all good fun as far as I’m concerned, at 87 I’m grateful that I remember as much as I do! Well done all of us I say 😃👏👏
I'm not yet seventy, but I am old enough to remember that when I was at school we were taught that the word 'good' is an adjective; and that in the sentence 'your memory is still working', were one to wish to qualify the word 'working', one would use an adverb, not an adjective. 'Prove that your memory is still working WELL'.
I forgot how many I missed, but I'm pretty sure it was four. I'll be 84 in a few months. If asked those without the multiple choices, I think I'd get about half of them

I got 46 correct. Four years ago, I had 8 surgeries, and the huge amount of anesthesia I had destroyed much of my memory. I couldn't even remember how to turn a faucet on or off. I still have a lot of blank spots, but I managed to relearn so much of what I thought was lost forever. I don't know if I'll ever regain all of my memories, but I enjoy learning, so gaining new knowledge is always a WIN to me.
Albert Schweitzer was NOT a scientist. He was a theologian/minister, medical doctor, humanitarian, author, and Bach organ interpreter/organ virtuoso. (Minus one question for yourself here...)
Got all the names right, missed.a few statistics and year dates. We got our TV in the early Fifties. We watched Sid Caesar and Imogene Coca in The Show of Shows and Jackie Gleason, Audrey Meadows and Art Carney in The Honeymooners. We watched the series of film footage from WW2, "Victory at Sea," with the Richard Rodgers score. We picked up Sputnik beeping over the US on our ham radios. Jack Kerouac wrote "On the Road," James Dean ran his car off the road, Allen Ginsberg wrote "Howl," and the '50s drew to a close.
42/50 I did all right until near the end with the dates. I am younger than 80 but sometimes I have a hard time remembering dates of some events. I can pretty much remember who and where but unless it's an event that shook or shaped the world, the when is usually a guess.
I'm 78 and missed five. The first 30 were all simple. The only difficult ones were questions with was no reason to actually know the answer i.e. "The year that - - - 1956, 57, 58.
I'm 79 and I didn't do too well with only 32/50. Seems most got a higher score. I didn't guess any. If I didn't know them I marked them wrong. Got the first 20 right but the dates and number ones I didn't have a clue. Maybe others that got a low score didn't bother to say though, only the ones that were proud of themselves .. lol. Well done all those that scored high.

I think YOU missed question number 14, as neither pantyhose nor mini-skirts existed until the late 1960's. (I was there, and recall when each came about)!
aznaamira: They weren't available in all area's at the same time. They finally showed up where I lived in 1965. They were market tested first and then slowly released throughout the rest of the country. Had to keep wearing stockings and garters until they finally got to where I lived. Remember the panties back then? They were like cotton balloons with elastic sewed into the waist and legs. Sometimes the elastic would break. Happened to my great-aunt while she was on the trolly. They dropped to her ankles. She stepped out of them, walked off the bus and never looked back. It was a different world.
When it comes to the tv questions I think you may have forgotten that there was a heap of us in Britain that did not tv’s in the 50’s. We knew about the world news from the radio. The American questions seemed unnecessary as the quiz seemed to be set for us Brits but guesswork got me through. Otherwise it was good thank you. But then at 83I did get 47/50. 😁

I was born in 1939 so I was a teenager in the 50's so I never knew some of the questions. I just didn't care. But I still got a pretty good score. I got a 45. I have more problems with the 60's when my children were young. I had eight children so I was pretty busy.
@@karmicscope5259 It does because there are some questions on US history that probably only US people are able to answer and also, of course, some questions on Britain that only British people would know the answer to.
I got 42 ot of 50 but if you weren't a Yank or a Limey you had to be very lucky to score that high. Some of those questions were so obscure, only an educated guess would suffice. I'm a Canuck BTW.
I'm a Canadian 80 year old and I remembered 87 correctly. I still remember a song that my sisters taught me in 1949 and the songs that my parents and their friends sang when they had parties at our place. I still know how to use Ohm's law to troubleshoot electronic circuits, and a lot more.

Yes, so did the people who constructed this quiz. The word "good" is an adjective not an adverb. Not much different from a Melbourne tram where they seem to thing that "safely' is an adjective and not an adverb.
got 40 /50 born in 1939 missed most on the actual date the event occurred. Also most of the questions were easier for Americans to answer. At this age I am just happy to have enough strength and wits about me to live independently in my home and manage quite well with the help of caring doctors and loving family. I am truly living in the Goodness of my God.
Many' of these questions were about events that occurred when I was 9-11 years old in a different country to where I grew up. Not a test of memory at all but I managed to work some out using common sense anyway. I didn't keep a score but I'd say I scored between 35 and 40 out of 50. I am 82 years old.

Got the first 20 right then got bored. We grey beards have no problem with questions about 60 years ago (especially multi choice ones--don't patronise us!!!) It's questions about last week that give us problems.
I got 48 correct and I just turned 77. Guess my memory is still intact, although there are a few things I'd like to forget. Anyway, growing up in the 50's was really different from today. Very strict, very religious and extremely racist. I withstood the strict and religious part, but I refused to acknowledge racism. I can't stand racist people. I never could understand what everyone was so upset about. I used to yell at my mother, EVERYONE IS .A PERSON. i was only 6 or 7, but that's how I felt, no one taught me that.
The amazing thing about those who are losing or have lost their memory is that they remember almost everything in the past but suffer from present short memory. My late mother had dementia. She remembered everything from her youth, growing up, recognized most people in old photos, but I had to repeat the same thing several times within a short time distance in her later years. A very cruel illness indeed.
Phoenix was just as bad in the 80s. Every morning the local news stations gave a report on the danger lever of the air quality and advised people with lung ailments to stay inside.
I am sure we were aware of events in the US, especially the space actions and Korea as we had British troops in that war. I can get that some folks did not pay too much attention to race issues in the US : the UK had its own.
Long term memory is usually not the issue for older people. It’s the short term memory that fails. You know like, I can’t remember what I had for dinner last night. 😅

@@peterdegraff1506I doubt there isn't a man that doesn't prefer the mini skirt, all those petty coats (mesh slips that made the skirt flare out) underneath the skirt were a pain.

Makes me feel better at 81 and got 34 right. A lot of American questions for a Kiwi in New Zealand.
With all of these wonderful people in their 80's that have taken this quiz and done so well, I must be one of the youngsters at 75...LOL. Fun quiz and I missed just 1. Thanks for your hard work.
Im Shocked that i got 43 correct out of the 50. I got very lucky on about 8 questions. the Elvis ones were easy ( Big Elvis Fan ) Thanks
50/50 not bad for an 81 yr old g-g-grandma. When all of this happen I was still in school so that help a lot.
Considering there were so many American questions I think I did well as a Brit to get 42/50

At 91 only 40. Not so good
Me too
Wonderful. I’m 81 & missed 2. Yet that as my generation. Thanks
I do remember particularly that my brain is still working WELL.
That's good!
Prove or Proof? 😊
I forgot how many I missed, but I'm pretty sure it was four. I'll be 84 in a few months. If asked those without the multiple choices, I think I'd get about half of them
I missed 7. I’m 89. What’s my score?
Yes, it would be much harder to know the answers right off the top of our head.
Born in 1950 and living in Cyprus, far away from America and UK I think I did it quite well. 42/50!!!

Yes many more! Keep on going :D
I missed 4 out of 50 therefore my score was 46/50, Thank you Quiz Time for the quiz and have a wonderful day! 🤔
Great job!
I didn’t know 4 of the questions at all. I was born in 1938,so was around for most of the period.
44/50 - born 1957. Amazed at how many USA questions I got right as not in the USA.
1957 was a great and phenomenal year for cars, music and most of all......people !
Same here but I think the fact you got a choice helped. 48/50 I am 75
Yep, got 40/50. I'm 83. Not stupid yet. In the 50's we had newspapers.
Eighty-nine here. I also got 40/50.
I can remember our first tv. It was the size of a small cereal box, black and white😅
Considering I was only a kid under 10 years old in the ,50's I did very well...I got 40 right!
42/50 I did all right until near the end with the dates. I am younger than 80 but sometimes I have a hard time remembering dates of some events. I can pretty much remember who and where but unless it's an event that shook or shaped the world, the when is usually a guess.
Yep. Me too. I was getting them all correct until the end. I missed 7 or 8. LOL
I’m 87, so I ‘ll use that excuse!
So do I.
I'm 78 and missed five. The first 30 were all simple. The only difficult ones were questions with was no reason to actually know the answer i.e. "The year that - - - 1956, 57, 58.
40 out of 50 for me, 81 years old and only short term issues
Not far short of eighty, did much better than I expected, the one's I failed on were all purely American based questions.
👍🏻👍🏻
I'm 79 and I didn't do too well with only 32/50. Seems most got a higher score. I didn't guess any. If I didn't know them I marked them wrong. Got the first 20 right but the dates and number ones I didn't have a clue. Maybe others that got a low score didn't bother to say though, only the ones that were proud of themselves .. lol. @critchley999 I am 82 and scored 26 and thought it not bad, considering i had a serious head injury when i was 9. At least we were truthful, which is more than i can say for some.
One I missed as I took to long to answer the question. Long term is easier than short term for this 81 yr elder.
It was a different world.

same 40/50 in Devon during 40/50 years No t.v. until1956.
Enjoyed that very much my score was about 35. Not bad for an 82 year old
Very good 😊 👍🏻👍🏻
I was born in 1939 so I was a teenager in the 50's so I never knew some of the questions. I just didn't care. But I still got a pretty good score. I got a 45. I have more problems with the 60's when my children were young. I had eight children so I was pretty busy.
It’s not really a fair quiz because you’re mixing american and British questions.
Why does that matter?
@@karmicscope5259 It does because there are some questions on US history that probably only US people
are able to answer and also, of course, some questions on Britain that only British people would know the

@@dcjohnson2208 Yes, I only missed the US ones.

I got 42 ot of 50 but if you weren't a Yank or a Limey you had to be very lucky to score that high. Some of those questions were so obscure, only an educated guess would suffice. I'm a Canuck BTW.

Missed one...not too bad for a person in my late 70's...Great quiz, thank you!
Yes, so did the people who constructed this quiz. The word "good" is an adjective not an adverb. Not much different from a Melbourne tram where they seem to thing that "safely' is an adjective and not an adverb.
70 years old is the new 40's!
You did great !!
I got 43 correct but that is cool for me
got 40 /50 born in 1939 missed most on the actual date the event occurred.
I had three wrong. Not bad for. 81 year old
The amazing thing about those who are losing or have lost their memory is that they remember almost everything in the past but suffer from present short memory. My late mother had dementia. She remembered everything from her youth, growing up, recognized most people in old photos, but I had to repeat the same thing several times within a short time distance in her later years. A very cruel illness indeed.
Thank you for the refresher, I enjoyed it, did fairly well.
