    The idea for the memory card wasn't stupid. It allowed players to continue their games right where they left off at the arcade. Not every kid could afford a home console considering that most games were $200+ each (over $300 in today's dollars) when new. So being able to spend a few quarters and not lose your place when you had to leave or you ran out of money that day was a really cool idea.

    I reckon you could also save your progress to the memory card, and come back to the same or different cab in another arcade and continue your progress. You wouldn't need to just go AES to MVS you could just save and come back to the same cab.

    Just bought a two slot mvs cab about a week ago. These videos have helped me a lot with understanding Jamma and different arcade boards, so thank you for the informative vids! Subscribed.

    Excellent video, once again. I just bought a gutted Neo Geo 2-slot cab that I'm going to restore, and your videos are motivating it to get it done quickly! I always enjoy your Neo Geo vids. Keep 'em coming :)

    Great review. I had the home Neo geo console in 1990-91 and I paid £350 for the console and anything between £90 to £150 per game, and it was worth every penny 😄

    Worth noting that all of the single slot mvs boards do use the jamma standard. You can use the multi slot boards in a jamma cab with a simple converter.

    I want to clean up and repaint mine...it has been well used and quite beat up...your cabinet is simply beautiful. My cabinet had a single original board, but it would not run a multi, so I replaced my cab with a 1c board. Regarding carts? They are cheaper than AES, but even popular MVS titles are pricey these days .

    Great video. The AES was meant to be rented, so the memory card was designed to keep your progress beatween rents, or for arcades for long games.

    would the memory card allow you to continue a game at the arcade at a later time or was it only for saving your progress to take home? You should see about getting a memory card just to complete the collection.

    • @moomert1
      @moomert1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2020tesla my understanding is that the card worked for continuation of that game on home and arcade. from what I heard, the cards were cheaply made.

    i know its a old video but from what i know there was 6 neo-geo's you missed the mvs6 and the mvs2 caberet(goldie), if you had a memory card you could bring it back to arcade next week and start where you left off, and like you i only had one friend with a neogeo aes, funny part his name was Geo

    I always wanted one of those cabs. I used to use a supergun to plug in a motherboard to a tv but the board died on me so all I got left now is 20 or so carts just sitting around. Back when I was buying MVS carts they were really cheap. I look on ebay now and the prices have gone way up

      James Chambers you can get a Neo cab for a couple hundred bucks. just make sure the multi slot motherboard works.

  • @saipansun1609
    @saipansun1609 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    *why would they do it? Because you can keep playing your game even when your outside, just like with the Switch. And B. the AES only had like 4 credits for most games.

    solid video!! love your editing with the cab selection! I agree the neo geo cab is a unique piece of hardware but the neo geo fighters never turned my crank... now, with the beauty of Pandoras box I just found out about sengoku3+ and for a beat em up its pretty and exciting. check it out!!
