Hey guys, sorry for pinning this comment on all videos but I want to give you an update on the channel. I've been slowly adding a show archive to the videos including a full transcript added as sub titles and a full track listing (with links to TH-cam videos for each track). This is my go to, when I’m on nightshift……I’ve heard hundreds of hours of this, a lot duplicated of course, I’m a railway signalman and this just helps get the night in with a great laugh.
They steal most of what Karl says 3/4 of Ricky's stand up is straight up stolen from Karl, which is probably a good thing as it is the funniest stuff he does and there is a good amount of Karl stuff in extras, the pen as you say, the down syndrome kid I'm surprised they didn't squoze in Forest Gump in a wheely bin as well
So funny to think that at this moment in time, this is probably the most popular/greatest radio show of all time, and it didn't even get an award that year!

Think of everyone that won at the Sony's that night. Golds, Silvers, etc. Now think how many of those shows are as popular as this little mother of a show 20 years later. The others are all rightfully forgotten. Makes you think, doesn't it.
I've always found it intriguing that at least some of the montage clips from 1:48 seem to be re-recordings of the original quotes. The wording and delivery is slightly different compared to when they were originally spoken in their respective episodes, and I've always just been curious as to the reason they were 'recreated' for the compilation clip
Actually I'm wondering if they thought of the idea before the episode and it was quicker to recreate the moments from memory than it would take little Karly Pilkboys to trawl through old episodes and edit together. I've answered my own question. Just ignore me

It's a little thing but I really love the exchange later in the show: Rick: I think we are going to knock it on the head... we were only doing it for a laugh anyway Steve: well, if they're not going to reward us for that- Rick: you know what I mean? for me this sums up perfectly the entire persona of the show. proudly humble, fiercely shambolic, beautifully shoddy.

It's basically saying that they're not self-reliant and functional enough to count as a person. It's very nasty, especially given what Karl thinks of Steve, and it's followed by radio silence and one of the more awkward of Ricky's "play a record" responses in the series. It's definitely up there when it comes to awful insults on the show.
