- The Witness Part 7 - The Swamp. I prefer calling it Tetris Land to be honest but to each their own. Here's where we were SUPPOSED to learn how to do Tetris pieces, but obviously that's not what happened.

Having played a lot more of this game, this is an area you want to discover early on, but you have no idea that it even exists unless you randomly stumble on it. Anyways, this isn't the last we'll be seeing of Tetris Land, more Witness to come later this week!

That last puzzle is a homage to Tetris. It contains every piece and can be solved if you think of each piece falling directly downwards.
That game must've been a hell to program, so kudos to the dev.

Weird - I don't remember the platforms moving *_that_* slowly.
Tip: if it moves slow, there's an environmental puzzle associated with it

25:30 When I did this one, I just counted the pieces, found there were only 2 missing squares, and figured it wouldn't take too long to brute-force since they had to be on the edge and I was lazy to do the tetris puzzle
That specific puzzle made me feel very smart because I have played quite a bit of actual tetris so I figured out the way to stack them quite quickly :D

That's how I called it too. :D And I called the bamboo part to be the Ninja Forest because of all the stealth that's going on.

As a guy with aphantasia (having no "mind's eye" aka not being able to see things I imagine) these puzzles seem impossible to figure out to me..
that must suck. not being able to envision your answers before you put them down.
Maybe you could try drawing them on a piece of paper if you want to try and figure them out.
As long as you've got only one handicap you should be able to get through to the normal ending. It's only going further that the game says fuck handicapped people.
I've got aphantasia and I 100%ed the game OK

The ones I personally find really easy are the ones you always have trouble with and the ones you find easy I find really hard.

That puzzle at the 14 minute mark? That is the ONLY puzzle I had to look up during my play through. I could NOT solve it myself. Congrats on figuring it out!

Castle hype next time? One of my personal favorite areas in the game. Ton of fun meta puzzles to mess around with and very unique puzzles.
I really enjoyed stepping on the platforms in ways that wouldn't make sense, then screenshotting the puzzle displays and posting them on The Witness communities

I feel like his mind is expetional but the need of doing and redoing a thing that is not hard to understand is through the roof

You’re the only person I’ve seen who has exclusively used the boat to travel to different places on the island. And also… the only person to play the game backwards. 😂
You seem to work out the puzzles from the final form and then stumble upon the tutorial for them. 😂

This is, however, a mistake, and I hope he saves before getting into Willy Wonka’s Wild Ride.
It auto saves when you enter the elevator, so you can reload the save and continue.
@@cz1822 Unfortunately, mine autosaved *after* the doors locked. So I still have to re-complete the pillar puzzles.
You know there's a way to open the elevator doors right? You cannot trap yourself anywhere in this game

The two blues each take a square out of the yellow. Which means there are no blues and no yellows. So any line that doesn’t separate them is a success.

You’ll feel even more dumb watching his Twitch stream, because he cuts out a lot of stuff he struggles on
He's too big brain, gets stuck on the simple stuff trying to read meaning into it. Pretty sure he's spent longer figuring out the glare on the desert panels than he did doing the hardest puzzle in the game (the red boat door)
16:10 If you don't understand this part, basically the tetris +2 piece and the tetris -2 piece cancel out to make 0, since 2-2=0. Since there are now 0 tetris pieces in the puzzle due to them cancelling out, it's not really a tetris puzzle anymore, and since there aren't any other puzzle elements in this puzzle you can solve it like a normal maze puzzle. However, you can't solve it with the +2 and -2 pieces separated, since they have to be in the same section to cancel out.

I think it was a mistake to move one of the more intuitive concepts to the back of the map, especially since a person who decides to do that is likely not doing a completely blind playthrough.

That's hilarious, I thought the game prevented you from entering this section from the wrong side.
Honestly I think this is one of the only ones that don't stop you quickly from entering from wrong end... but also the boat is needed to get to the other end anyways

You can get out of the thing. The puzzle for opening the thing is near your feet.

Tetris Land but most of the pieces do not qualify as tetronimoes due to not being 4 blocks.
This is the worst part about the Witness - the bit in the middle where you've finished the first couple areas, you've got a few lasers, and you're heading off to other parts of the island.
But they expect you to have done the sound puzzles and the tetris puzzles before going to the quarry or the desert, yet don't lead you there at all. I had literally the exact same experience you did here, it was awful and terrible.
An island was a terrible way of organizing these puzzles, a more linear progression makes for a more even experience.

Yes, in last video he went to tetris land to learn them, this is just all he did he didnt show before
This footage is what was between that cut in the last episode. He went through all of this just to learn what the blue tiles do. The ending of last episode is chronologically after this episode.
