"I then set out to find the top of the mountain, but found nothing and came back" You got 90% of the way there, then got distracted by some pretty flowers, got turned around and went back the way you came declaring there was no way to get there. It was extremely frustrating.
While I do understand it's frustrating at times, no part of this game is blind guessing. You often times just had to have the lights lined up with the puzzle and yourself in the water section. Gotta say this part frustrated me the most too though because I struggled understanding how the water level actually affected things.
"12 minutes of trying to find the glare" I've played through this section twice now and both times spent like an hour in that water room trying to find the glares.

a rule of thumb for aspiring game developers: "taking your time" and "taking up time" are different things, and should be treated as such. if you intend to test the logic/reflexes/whatever of the players, you should not also test their patience. water level puzzles, for instance, should allow the player to change the water level quickly. whenever you make a long sequence, ask yourself the following questions: 1. will the player be viewing this sequence multiple times?(if yes, shorten accordingly) 2. will anything be lost if this sequence is shortened?(if no, shorten accordingly) 3. is the intent of this game to anger or frustrate the player?(if yes, perform some introspection on your sadistic streak, and then lengthen accordingly)
Aldar There is a secret code you find somewhere, which ends up being basically a TH-cam video length slider. It plays a video that is about an hour long, and you start the puzzle with a circle that appears on the video, the drag it off of the video onto the rest of the puzzle, and end an hour later when the video has the end of the puzzle on it
The reason the water goes up and down slowly is the same reason that the game forces you to do previous puzzles when you fail a later puzzle. It is supposed to stop people from brute forcing the puzzle and instead solving it with logic. Wouldn't the water puzzle be much easier if you pay attention to where the light source is and figure out where it is when it bounces off the puzzle? Or does the puzzle require calculating the position you have to be in with a degree of precision that isn't reasonably possible?
I'm honestly surprised at how so many people have trouble with this section. Light always bounces off surfaces at equal and opposite angles, so it shouldn't be hard to know about where to stand.
I understand that this room is one of the most convoluted twists that they pull with a seemingly simple mechanic, but I just want to clarify that it isn't guessing and checking to stand in the right place. The way the glares work follows realistic physics and how light beams from the rooms lights will reflect off the puzzles and the water. It's still unreasonably hard, but it isn't guessing if you puzzle out where the light would bounce to.
Yeah, it's like he's never seen a reflective puddle in real life. This whole ordeal could've been so much easier had he just thought a bit about the orientation of the light to the surfaces.

Okay. How to say this without spoilers. There is a very VERY late in the game region where there are puzzles that contain every mechanic in the game. Plus a timer. Plus a new twist. ... every time you fail it, they randomize. Not just from a list of possible puzzles, but completely randomize. It's possible it might end up being ones that you can easily solve and get past, or it might randomly generate things as hard as ... TWELVE... and it's a pretty short timer. You have to get good. Really REALLY good. And fast. Not just at one or two of the mechanics, but at all of them. .. and, honestly, I'm not that good. So I know I will never pass that part. I can accept that.
Yeah, music section is the one thing stopping me from 100%. Main thing is just that it’s such a different thing you need to do compared to the clever thinking, puzzle solving, and patience. Doesn’t help that practice is hard, since it just all shuts off when the song ends, so the ending puzzles you rarely learn.
Omfg, I played this with my gf awhile back and there was a set of puzzles we tried to brute Force our way through because we had no idea what was going on. I turned the volume really low so we could talk. We got frustrated and just never came back. I wonder if it was the music puzzle

in the beginning I was wondering if you know how reflection and angles work but those do seem very tedious and your skill at all other puzzles is just really impressive
It was easily my favorite desert themed area in a video game, and I really liked the puzzles, too. It was also the first place where I really started seeing environmental puzzles everywhere.
It took me a hundred hours of playing this game, but the second hundred I've gained a lot of appreciation for these puzzles and the entire area. If you know how refraction works, you can actually just walk to the right spot every time. It's not tedious at all, just requires understanding of the mechanics.
You're very entertaining and really smart at puzzles but man you really decide that things aren't solvable without brute force or guessing really really fast. The one with the water just takes knowing how reflections work, it isn't just guessing if you're in the right spot.

In retrospect, i never looked at a tutorial for the normal puzzles, except for colour habitat. The seeing you fail at basic geometry is quite fustrating.

The environmental puzzles that light up the pillars have no gameplay impact - there's no reward for lighting up all the pillars or anything. Although some of the environment puzzles are very clever, so you could say they're their own reward.
It seems like the water section woukd be much more enjoyable if you could control the exact level of the water _quuckly_ then keep it still And if the buttons could be accessed from any spot, with the right angle I think that would remove the wait and luck aspects.

And even here, on youtube, I can only find one comment saying "There is strategy and it is called trigonometry" by Henrix98 after TWO MONTHS. Admittedly, perhaps the viewers are also fairly new to puzzles, just as aliensrock is - practice makes perfect in puzzles, just like in so many other areas. But anyways, here's a tip - after solving anything, think about why it worked the way it did. Reflections don't appear randomly - there is a pattern you can follow, both in game and in real life.

Yeah, the zigzag puzzle is always a pain. Even after full clearing the game a number of times I still struggle with it.
