Hi! Correct, with this being the first true front night vision mirror dash cam, I will imagine the next step in the evolution will be one equipped with dual night vision cameras at a higher price point since the front image sensor cost is significantly higher than the rear sensor (the rear camera has some level of night vision as shown on the video but not to the level that the front one does). I think it's also going to depend on how successful this model is, if there is low demand for it compared to traditional mirror dash cams without the night vision camera, I imagine we will not see one with dual night vision cameras since the demand would show that true night vision is not a priority for consumers (but again this is speculation, the market with tell) I'm keeping an eye on this, stay tuned. A great set- up would be the 360 Akeeyo mirror with split screen left and right wingmirror cameras so no reverse camera. So that would be where the rearview mirror is. Then this Akeeyo night vision for rearview on the dash during the day and rear and front at night or just front. So you have both sideviews above and on the dash a big rearview so not compromising the rear. And both mirrors are nice slim designs as opposed to some chunky square design.

INCREDIBLE!!! It is almost impossible to spot animals sitting at the roadside in rainy nights fast enough - but this device makes it possible! The biggest plus for safe driving ever invented! And of course no fully stealthy-black clothed drunkard staggering at home in the middle of the road ten minutes after midnight escapes this camera either ;D The plus in security and 100% avoiding every kind of pedestrian or animal crossing accidents at night no matter how bad the weather is, is so extreme with a night vision device like this I wonder why this has not been made a security requirement like seat belts or mirrors. Can it see absolute clearly through the most severe blizzard-like rain conditions like the Wolfbox 840 4k does? How good is it´s night vision compared to the Wolfbox? Where can I buy this device in Europe?
Hi Julia! Yeah definately impressive. I placed the link to get the system in the video description. Regarding the Wolfbox G840H, that is a different product in a different category. The Akeeyo is a primarily a night vision system where the G840H is primarily a dual channel LCD mirror dash cam. So I think the Wolfbox will be behind as far night vision performance since it was not designed for that purpose, where the Akeeyo will also fall behind in performance when attempting to use it like a mirror dash cam (currently it cannot be mounted to the mirror of the car, it is dash mounted only but I'm working on a modification for those that want to mirror mount this bad boy. That being said I run dual systems on my cars (for redundancy, in case one system fails the other is recording still) so I can see the Akeeyo pairing well with a mirror dash like the Wolfbox so you get the best of both worlds (if budget allows). Yeah I was so surprised by it, I keep looking at it the image, and like this looks like daylight when it's so dark outside (it was actually really cloudy when I filmed this so even the moon light was partially obstructed that night) Now my passengers seem to enjoy looking at it while driving, say it's looks cool to watch LOL Cheers!
Great review. I looked at the web page and found it funny that it is actually cheaper to get the hardwire kit then without it. Would also love to see a mirror option with these types of cams, this really blows all the competitors out of the water in my opinion.

I got a wild update for you . I was having problems with this dash display as it won’t stick on the dash well . My installer said try should try to return it . The company is trying to avoid a refund but they want me to try something else . Next month , Aakeyo is releasing the rear view mirror camera version of this with night vision . I’m waiting to hear back from the company for more info and features . You heard it here 1st 😮

Not sure what you mean as far as upgrading the front camera, if you are referring to swapping in a different camera, yes mixing dash cam components sometimes is possible, I had viewers done it BUT I usually don't recommend it unless you don't mind potentially voiding the warranty (due to mixing components). We also don't know the long term aspects (both operational and safety) of mixing components. There is also the issue of which components will actually appear to work (again without knowing the long term effect of swapping) since sometimes small differences between the products (while looking the same from the outside) are important (I had a viewer fry his new rear camera because the old wiring connections looked same as his prior rear dash cam) Hope this helps, Cheers!
Wow that is really impressive night vision! I wonder if I could mount that front camera in my rear window to basically have a more powerful night vision "rear view mirror" screen? (Since the front cam looks so much better than the rear cam).

I tried to do that with 2 front dashcams from Amazon and ended up returning both because when mounted to the rear windshield, the live feed video is flipped (subjects on my right appear on my left screen)
An interesting variation on the typical dash cam. For some reason, it is not on Amazon, hence you don’t get to see user comments. Seems to have not caught on yet.

At the tail end of the video when you were day and night driving, I didn't notice the blind spot alerts going off. Were they cut off in the video display or did you have them turned off. That is the main reason I am looking to purchase cameras. The BSA on my present vehicle is only on the rear view mirrors and I don't even notice them while I am driving! Also I noticed at night oncoming cars headlights glared, could that be toned down in Brightness adjustment? Thank you, great video!
Hi Clarence! Ah yes the recorded video will not show the BSM indicators going off, those are only shown live on the physical screen to keep the recorded video as clean as possible. Regarding glare, unfortunately all dash cams are plagued by this to an extent, due to the limitations of current video sensor technology. What I usually do when the rear camera is installed (same as the front), I mount it high and pointed slightly down. If mounted low and horizontal to the cars behind you, the camera faces the headlights of coming vehicles directly which can exacerbate the glare issue. High mounting and tilt has helped me reduce the glare but won't eliminate it completely. And I have another video where I cover glare in more detail coming up, stay tuned. Cheers!

Hi David! Unfortunately, the Akeeyo does not support conversion to a direct mount style. Regarding the front camera, yes, technically, it is possible to install it in a different location (with some cases requiring the cables to be extended by the installer). Cheers!
My interest in these systems is as a video mirror. I want the best picture facing rearward. The rear view on this model needed flipping horizontally. Is this possible?
Hi! Yes the rear view supports horizontal flip (mirroring) you can see that option at around the 8:00 mark of the video. Regarding the best picture facing rearward, I can probably help with that, when you say the best picture, do you mean the highest possible resolution? This product is available on Amazon and eligible for return within 30 days, but I really hate returning stuff, hence ny eagerness to gather as much information as possible. Hi Gate! Ah remember the Rear View Mirror feature I mention around the 8:00 mark is only applicable to the rear camera not the front camera. So far I have not found any mirror dash cam that let's you flip the front view horizontally (but I will update this comment if I ever do) The best way to do so if you want to flip it would be in the editing software but not sure you would gain much from it. On the rear camera the view is flipped horizontally to mimic a real mirror but the front view is normally best view un-flipped. Cheers! @@gate9595

Hi MIlberto! The Akeeyo Night Vision dash cam is in a different category than a 360° mirror dash cam like the Rydeen one. I would say if the priority is night vision (a lot of driving at night) then the Akeeyo would be the way to go. Specially if and don't need all the bells and whistles of the Tombo 360X, but if you want the backup to SDD capability, auto dimming, Cabin night vision, direct fit mount, high capacity SD memory card and concealed memory card cover or the optional BSD system support, hidden wire setup, etc. I would go for the Tombo 360X. LOL I actually run different dash cams on my cars (a minimum of 2 dash cams per car, and some times 3! my 2 installed dash cams plus the 3rd one which I'm reviewing LOL) What I recommend (if budget allows) is to run a dual setup so for example mirror dash cam can be nicely paired with a separate stick style dashcam, this gives me redundancy in case one of the dash cams fails but also gives me the best of both worlds (mirror dash cam plus stick dash cam features) or a mirror dash cam and a stealth dash cam like this th-cam.com/video/TvKRKYA7cgQ/w-d-xo.html But yes eventually I want to go back to my oldest dash cams for a long term review update, this one is so new it will probably be a while until we know all of it's quirks but so far no issues (but I will update this comment if something changes) And I have more dash cam reviews on my channel in the playlist "Dash Cams Reviews" if you like to consider a 2nd dash cam to run along side your new Akeeyo one. I bought a Mirror dash cam you featured that is a Wolfbox awhile back. Most of their products I've found don't have Bluetooth/wifi to connect to the app. Not even the G900 they have advertised on their site for almost 300 does anything particularly fascinating. They only offer just your basic mirror dash cams but i def wouldn't call it smart. I'm looking to replace it ASAP. Id prefer Bluetooth over wifi cause whatever smart device you connect it to wifi now disables your device for EVERYTHING except for the cam like internet. Id like to see a mirror dash cam that has mirrorlink Android Carplay with Bluetooth and an app. Does it exist?

I'm looking at some different ones so I can add one to the list of dash cams to review, however just as a heads up this style of mirrors (android) are usually not as stable as the standard dash cam mirrors (that usually run on Linux), so expect a few crashes here and there and smaller bugs from the being a very low cost tablet made to fit into a mirror. can't believe in this day age, 23 years into the 21st century, companies are still promoting 1080 resolution!! Also why are the cables so thick? only the rear camera cable seems ok to tuck in!! ..... the rest of the set up seems real good.

Currently Sony's line up for night vision sensors is limited to FHD (their 4K sensor is on the other end of the spectrum, tiny coming in at 6.43mm where the Night Vision sensor is 8.35mm which is part of the reason is so sensitive to light and so far this is the largest size we seen on a dash cam yet). But you are right technology keeps advancing so I can imagine higher resolutions (and possibly thinner cables when AHD 3.0 is eventually released) Stay tuned my friend, Cheers!

@@AlexAutoFun i have wolfbox G900 with hardwire kit. I dont know about RedTiger but i think its the same as G900. Same menu, same rear camera, same spec except that G900 have 30fps and RT have 25fps. But my friend Wolfbox have so much bugs. Thats why i wonted to test G900. First the rear camera was gray, then they changed new firmware and now it comes with black rear camera. Which buy the way is for no reason change brigbtnes at night. You can see flickering, in one second is dark, and in other is brighter ( blinking). Also for no reason sometimes goes darkes, i mean the picturs from the rear is dark. Front is perfect but some problem is the rear camera which i have 3. Also the video menu is mixed. If i choose rear urgent menu then it shows front normal menu. This is one example. But when i connect with car charger then this bug in video menu is gone. Then is showing normal title and videos in this menu. Support is not to much of help. They sent me 3 dashcam and every of three of them are the same. So tell me can you try to test this dashcam and see what is the problem? I will sent youin a few moments couple of videos just to see.

At the tail end of the video when you were day and night driving, I didn't notice the blind spot alerts going off. Were they cut off in the video display or did you have them turned off. That is the main reason I am looking to purchase cameras. The BSA on my present vehicle is only on the rear view mirrors and I don't even notice them while I am driving! Also I noticed at night oncoming cars headlights glared, could that be toned down in Brightness adjustment? Thank you, great video!
Hi Clarence! Ah yes the recorded video will not show the BSM indicators going off, those are only shown live on the physical screen to keep the recorded video as clean as possible. Regarding glare, unfortunately all dash cams are plagued by this to an extent, due to the limitations of current video sensor technology. What I usually do when the rear camera is installed (same as the front), I mount it high and pointed slightly down. If mounted low and horizontal to the cars behind you, the camera faces the headlights of coming vehicles directly which can exacerbate the glare issue. High mounting and tilt has helped me reduce the glare but won't eliminate it completely. And I have another video where I cover glare in more detail coming up, stay tuned. Cheers!

Hi David! Unfortunately, the Akeeyo does not support conversion to a direct mount style. Regarding the front camera, yes, technically, it is possible to install it in a different location (with some cases requiring the cables to be extended by the installer). Cheers!

Regarding the best picture facing rearward, I can probably help with that, when you say the best picture, do you mean the highest possible resolution? This product is available on Amazon and eligible for return within 30 days, but I really hate returning stuff, hence ny eagerness to gather as much information as possible. Hi Gate! Ah remember the Rear View Mirror feature I mention around the 8:00 mark is only applicable to the rear camera not the front camera. So far I have not found any mirror dash cam that let's you flip the front view horizontally (but I will update this comment if I ever do) The best way to do so if you want to flip it would be in the editing software but not sure you would gain much from it. On the rear camera the view is flipped horizontally to mimic a real mirror but the front view is normally best view un-flipped. Cheers! @@gate9595

Hi MIlberto! The Akeeyo Night Vision dash cam is in a different category than a 360° mirror dash cam like the Rydeen one. I would say if the priority is night vision (a lot of driving at night) then the Akeeyo would be the way to go. Specially if and don't need all the bells and whistles of the Tombo 360X, but if you want the backup to SDD capability, auto dimming, Cabin night vision, direct fit mount, high capacity SD memory card and concealed memory card cover or the optional BSD system support, hidden wire setup, etc. I would go for the Tombo 360X. Hi Milbert! Swapping dash cam components such as a different camera is sometimes is possible but I usually don't recommend it unless you don't mind potentially voiding warranty (due to mixing components/brands). We also don't know the long term aspects (both operational and safety) of mixing components/brands. There is also the issue of which components will actually appear to work at first but fail later due to mixing since sometimes small differences between the products while looking the same from the outside are important (I had a viewer fry his new rear camera because the old wiring connections looked same as his prior rear dash cam) Cheers!@@maverick1925Alpha

LOL I actually run different dash cams on my cars (a minimum of 2 dash cams per car, and some times 3! my 2 installed dash cams plus the 3rd one which I'm reviewing LOL) What I recommend (if budget allows) is to run a dual setup so for example mirror dash cam can be nicely paired with a separate stick style dashcam, this gives me redundancy in case one of the dash cams fails but also gives me the best of both worlds (mirror dash cam plus stick dash cam features) or a mirror dash cam and a stealth dash cam like this th-cam.com/video/TvKRKYA7cgQ/w-d-xo.html But yes eventually I want to go back to my oldest dash cams for a long term review update, this one is so new it will probably be a while until we know all of it's quirks but so far no issues (but I will update this comment if something changes) And I have more dash cam reviews on my channel in the playlist "Dash Cams Reviews" if you like to consider a 2nd dash cam to run along side your new Akeeyo one. I bought a Mirror dash cam you featured that is a Wolfbox awhile back. Most of their products I've found don't have Bluetooth/wifi to connect to the app. Not even the G900 they have advertised on their site for almost 300 does anything particularly fascinating. They only offer just your basic mirror dash cams but i def wouldn't call it smart. I'm looking to replace it ASAP. Id prefer Bluetooth over wifi cause whatever smart device you connect it to wifi now disables your device for EVERYTHING except for the cam like internet. Id like to see a mirror dash cam that has mirrorlink Android Carplay with Bluetooth and an app. Does it exist?

Hi TheDesertPooch! Ah remember Dash Cam companies do not make their own image sensors, they are dependent on larger manufacturers like Sony for them. Currently Sony's line up for night vision sensors is limited to FHD (their 4K sensor is on the other end of the spectrum, tiny coming in at 6.43mm where the Night Vision sensor is 8.35mm which is part of the reason is so sensitive to light and so far this is the largest size we seen on a dash cam yet). But you are right technology keeps advancing so I can imagine higher resolutions (and possibly thinner cables when AHD 3.0 is eventually released) Stay tuned my friend, Cheers!

@@AlexAutoFun i have wolfbox G900 with hardwire kit. I dont know about RedTiger but i think its the same as G900. Same menu, same rear camera, same spec except that G900 have 30fps and RT have 25fps. But my friend Wolfbox have so much bugs. Thats why i wonted to test G900. First the rear camera was gray, then they changed new firmware and now it comes with black rear camera. Which buy the way is for no reason change brigbtnes at night. You can see flickering, in one second is dark, and in other is brighter ( blinking). Also for no reason sometimes goes darkes, i mean the picturs from the rear is dark. Front is perfect but some problem is the rear camera which i have 3. Also the video menu is mixed. If i choose rear urgent menu then it shows front normal menu. This is one example. But when i connect with car charger then this bug in video menu is gone. Then is showing normal title and videos in this menu. Support is not to much of help. They sent me 3 dashcam and every of three of them are the same. So tell me can you try to test this dashcam and see what is the problem? I will sent youin a few moments couple of videos just to see.
