Sr. Do you have a video about how to run the wire from the back bumper to the dash camera. On 2011 toyota tundra crewmax. Because I just bought wolfbox camera but I don't think wire its long enough. I like to see a video. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. Thank you

I installed it in my service vehicle because the rear view mirror wasn’t usable, with the dividers that are installed in the vehicle. Now I have a fully functioning rear view mirror that is very clear and helps me drive safely everyday. Bought it on sale for $200 flat, and purchased a bigger memory card, but I recommend it to everyone. I love it.

Purchased this in Nov 2022 been working fine for me. According to Wolfbox they upgraded the unit since my purchase yet not 100% certain of all changes that may have been made. Yet after seeing your review appears maybe sensor(s) were one of them as the output on mine isn't quite as crisp especially on the rear camera. Still a decent dash cam all the same and love the ability to review footage on that large display.

Finally got mine installed and am generally really happy with it. The only issue is i wish the front cam had a bit more articulation so you can rotate it a bit more (as it still films my dash a little). Also i like to power the screen off after 15 seconds so it turns back into a normal mirror but this also occurs in reversing mode (which you dont want to happen) so i hope they release an update for this (so the screen doesnt power off while reversing). Other than that it is pretty good!

I've had mine installed in my truck since last year. The only thing I can say I wish was different is if they kept the GPS module powered, as it needs to obtain a lock each time the vehicle is started. Otherwise the unit has worked really well.

Ah yes so far it seems all the dash cams I tested have the same strategy for the GPS even when hardwired (I imagine is to keep parasitic energy composition to a minimum) But glad to hear you are enjoying your new mirror dashcam, I personally can't go back to a regular mirror now lol Cheers!

There is no battery backup on the GPS module. The GPS each time the G900 is powered on needs to get GPS lock, which can take up to minutes to obtain. Ideally they would have used a GPS that has a bettery/super cap backup to provide faster GPS lock time@@MM-ho7kb

So my main aim is to get a reverse camera, but if i can get dashcams included it will be a bonus. factory fitted they are asking over 600 pounds. Looks great. If you hardwire to always record in parking G mode, is there a way to turn off the camera from recording while parked in the garage?

You're welcome Mario! Mirror Dashcams do not feature auto dimming. This is due to the mirror being an LCD screen when turned on, so you don't get your eyes blinded by the headlights from rear vehicles since what your are seeing is not a real reflection, what you are seeing on the screen is what the rear camera is seeing (assuming the mirror is used with the LCD screen on and the mirror is not aimed at your eyes since the screen is still reflective). Howdy! Love your video's. I bought the G900 after watching. Have not yet installed it but i do have a question. It says to install the rear camera on the outside. Well I'm installing this on an Audi Q7 and there really is no where to put the camera on the outside. I don't need the parking assist as I already have it on the car. I wanted it mostly to film and use as a rearview mirror. I have a tinted rear window but want to install the camera in the middle of the rear hatch. Will the camera still operate well on the inside? Ah regarding mounting, yes my preference is to mount inside the case however in your case since you have window tint visibility will be decreased, similar to wearing sunglasses at night expect you are putting sunglasses onto the rear camera, will probably be ok for day but will be extra dark at night. If you have tint I would recommend for the installer to place the camera on the outside for the best picture quality (typically by the rear license plate area). So is the main difference between the 900 and 850 just the rear camera resolution and slight UI differences? Is the rear view camera night vision about the same on both?

Can I connect the camera to both my radio and the mirror? I’d prefer to see the reverse backup on a larger screen but have the clear visibility of the rear camera while driving

HI Autofan A quick question what is the difference between Wolfbox G900 and Vantrue M3 I like the M3 more and would buy it was 4K enabled but i europe only option to have 4K Mirror cam is to go with US version Wolfbox g 900. Obviously I know Vantrue M3 is 3 channel system but Ilm only interested in 2 Channel front and back camera and reversing camera help. Also I will buy the item that got better quality reversing camera.

I have mine hardwired but it won’t go into parking mode, screen is always on. How do i know if it’s in parking mode? I have the constant power fuse and ACC fuse connected pretty sure correctly. for now i turn screensaver mode on when i leave car but it’s a hassle. Also it only records about 4-5h before it’s full and starts deleting previous videos Any help is appreciated

It definitely should not do that (the screen should turn off and the dash cam should enter park mode when the car is off) I would have the installer check all the connections (ACC, BATT & GND) to confirm that they connected to the correct locations for ACC and BATT (I seen cases where park mode is not enabled and the dash cam stays on constantly if ACC and BATT are reversed or connected to the incorrect locations that does not provide power at the correct time for both ACC and BATT) Here is my follow up detailed hardwire if you want to see that process th-cam.com/video/K2iKXj82354/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps, Cheers!

My backup camera seems to be blurry or out of focus in the sense that there’s blurred lines and ghosting effects. Any reports of this and ways to troubleshoot?
Hi! That is strange, it shouldn't be blurry or out of focus. I would recommend contacting your installer to check the system including the camera lens. And you can also contact Wolfbox for tech support if you want to bypass your installer, they may be able to walk your thru some troubleshooting steps. I guess on a small screen the differences in picture quality between the the rear view on this and the usual 1920x1080 would be quite small. I’ll probably get the Akeeyo 360, install it, and then someone will bring out a 4K rear view.

Correct, current dash cams use AHD 2.0 for the rear camera signal and that standard does not support 4K, not long ago the same company that developed AHD announced that they have began working on AHD 3.0 which will support higher resolutions (however considering 2.0 took years to be released, it will be a while for us to see 3.0), so once that standard comes out, we will eventually see dash cam manufacturers began to use at some point in the future. I run different ones on my cars so what I usually tell people looking for the right dash cam for them is to start by picking the style of dash cam (Mirror or classic stick). Then how many cameras does it need to have (1, 2 or 3). Now that you have narrowed your selections, consider how much you want to spend on one, that will narrow your choices even further. I had another question my Toyota Camry 2017 originally had a back up rear camera that I took off in order to replace it with a old dash cam I had “Vantop” it died on me and looking to purchase Wolfbox here soon. But the original rear view camera I had whenever I would reverse it would give me “parking assistance” on my original radio screen I have on my car.. but since I took it off I don’t have that anymore. So I was wondering with the Wolfbox dash cam, is there a way that when I install this new one that the rear camera can show both the rear view mirror dash cam along with my radio screen like the original? Like how I had it before I removed it so it can show both screens. Is that even possible? If not how can I mount the dash rear view camera along side the original?
My wife and I share a car and she has been pushing me to add the original back but I prefer the dash cam so I want to make adjustments for both us if at all possible.

Ah regarding interfacing the rear camera from a dash cam to your car's infotainment screen, not this is normally not possible as dash cam cameras typically are not interchangeable with OEM cameras. Parking Assist can be enabled on the mirror dash cam, here is the process for that th-cam.com/video/LHGxwulIPes/w-d-xo.html Regarding mounting several backup cameras, yes it definitely can be done, I have a car with 3 of them (two video only and 1 with video and backup radar) and my own test car normally sees 4 rear cameras at the same time since I'm always testing new ones LOL. Great video…but how about the glare that may come from rear car headlights at night??
Thanks B! Ah I use my mirror with the LCD screen on all the time, so I'm not using it as a standard glass mirror. This means I do not get glare from cars behind me since I'm looking at a digital screen (imagine a recording) not an actual reflection like a mirror does (now if you have screen off to use as a regular mirror and aim the mirror like a normal mirror then you could potentially get glare). Question, if I don’t have the hardwire for the parking mode, and I left my car parked on the street and someone hit it, the camera turns on by itself on that moment, or I won’t record anything because the car is off and I don’t have the hardwire ??? Have you tired using a larger memory card like 512 to see if it still works? The previous model supported it. Also, does it clean up it’s space and delete old videos on its own or do you need to remember to delete them?
Hi Cani! Nope I haven't (but yes viewers have tried larger memory cards exceeding the manufacturers stated maximum size on the different dash cams I have reviewed with different levels of success). However I personally would not recommend trying it since we don't know the effects of exceeding the maximum memory card size (both short term and long term). And even if there are no apparent effects, if something goes wrong with the dash cam (even if unrelated to the memory card) I could see warranty being potentially affected (I seen this many times in the automotive industry with manufacturers quick to deny warranty if the product was used in a different manner as stated on their manuals or specs) But regarding loop recording, yes the dash cam does support it so no need to manually erase old videos, the dash cam will do it automatically for you. I have a 2015 Ford F150, can the factory backup cam be integrated into the rearview mirror system instead of using the one that came with it?
Hi Steward! Nope, dash cams and/or their cameras cannot be integrated with the factory car radio and the other way around (the car's backup camera cannot be integrated into the dash cam, as it's designed to work with the car's systems not with the dash cam) Cheers!

So if you need best image quality and budget is not a concern then the G900 is going to be the way to go. Hi Alex, Thanks for your great indepth reviews.. I have subscribed recently. Can you help? Looking to install G900 in campervan which is Left Hand Drive as we are looking to travel mainly in Europe. On occasions we will want to travel here in the UK so need to cover both options / side of the road. Obviously there is plenty of adjustment with the articular movement of the mount and camera adjustment. So I think we should be fine. Ah good question, the mirror dash will work for left hand or right hand drive (Wolfbox does not make a different one for LHD or RHD, the camera is always on the left side of the mirror). Hi Cristian! Ah they are very different mirror dash cams so I think the best one for you will be the one that meets the needs of what you are trying to do with it. If you want 360 video, the the Rydeen would be the way to go. If need a dual channel dash cam with super clear video (just front and rear) then the G900 would be my choice. If you need proximity sensor (motion detection) then Rydeen, if need adjustable reversing lines then G900. If you need backup to SSD then Rydeen, if your budget is lower then G900 and so on. It's kind of hard to tell if it's reflection from the screen or working as a mirror, but can this still be used as a mirror while driving?

They should offer either a removable front camera or offer a 3rd camera version. For offroad use. Then you could mount a front camera on the actual front of the vehicle, when tackling an offroad obstacle or climbing a steep hill! That would sell like crazy in the offroad community!

Would you recommend this or the Redtiger T27 that has very similar spec? Redtiger has 11in rectangular screen vs 12in mirror shaped design of the wolfbox. Redtiger on their website claims to be using a true 8MP IMX415 and some reports state wolfbox uses an older gen 5MP IMX 335 which isnt true 4K but interpolated. I was wondering which one has the better overall image quality day and night? You have reviewed both. Could you compare please?

I think you can't go wrong with either one but that is a good observation, the size is going to be a major deciding factor if you still want to use your sun visors (check to see if you have enough clearance for the mirror size you want). Regarding the video quality, you can see that in my T27 video so you can compare it th-cam.com/video/823doPGMu80/w-d-xo.html (I always tell people that video quality is subjective) Regarding frame rate, here is where the G900 has the advantage as it runs at 30FPS vs 27FPS on the T27. @@AlexAutoFun Thank you for your response. I saw posts on a few forums that both are made by the same OEM, that could explain the similarities in their packaging, included parts and Software UI. Previously both cams used the IMX335 which was a popular starvis sensor from the era of QHD dashcams. Since that sensor is 5MP native and not 8MP which is true 4K, their software used to do some interpolation to upscale to 4K from QHD. But recently Redtiger has started mentioning they are using the IMX415, compared to their old ads that mentioned IMX335. That could mean they've upgraded the sensors to IMX415. The interpolated 4K always maxed out at 24-25fps.
I did compare both your recorded footage and the Wolfbox appears to have better dynamic range and looks a tad bit sharper compared to your Redtiger T27 review. The T27 you reviewed could have been a previous Hardware iteration with the IMX335. Just guessing.

What I usually do when the rear camera is installed, I mount it high and pointed slightly down. If mounted low and horizontal to the cars behind you, the camera faces the headlights of coming vehicles directly which can exacerbate the glare issue. High mounting and tilt has helped me reduce the glare but won't eliminate it completely. For rain I actually install the camera inside the car which improves the view (a single drop of water on the lens blurs the image, by mounting the camera inside it always stays clean and dry) And I have another where I cover this and glare coming up, stay tuned. Ah yes the infamous glare, unfortunately all mirror dash cams are plagued by this (is just part of the nature of a screen also being used as a mirror when the LCD panel is off). However here is what I found works good to reduce it. 1st is window tint (sides windows only not on the rear if camera is mounted inside the car). 2nd I aim my mirror dash cam down towards the rear seats so I don't get the reflection of the bright outside (this assumes your are using the dash cam with the screen on) 3rd is that some mirror dash cams do come with glare reducers like this one th-cam.com/video/ZUUZIcKD_mg/w-d-xo.html or this one th-cam.com/video/dVcfFVLCXbY/w-d-xo.html So far there are no universal ones since most of mirror dash cams have custom shapes and sizes. Please help. The g900 has auto dimming which makes the camera too dark. I contacted wolfbox but they said its designed to auto adjust brightness. Is there a way to turn this off or trick it into keeping the rear cam at its brightest?
Hi Digital! The G900 does not support auto-dimming. I think what you are referring to is WDR or the auto exposure / gain which most dash cams have (an a few like this one will let you adjust both WDR and exposure manually th-cam.com/video/OhAXWsGIucs/w-d-xo.html ) However on the G900 WDR or exposure cannot be adjusted manually (you can see what the video from the rear camera looks like during the test drive portion of this review) Cheers!

I would have the installer confirm the installation is correct and all cables are not damaged and fully connected (same with the hardwire kit if hardwired, I seen cases where the wrong hardwire kit was used causing issues) You can also contact Wolfbox for support if you don't want to go thru your installer, they maybe be able to walk you thru some troubleshooting steps. In your opinion, does the brightness dimming feature compensate for the glare? If you turn brightness all the way down is the glare from headlights tolerable, even if it’s mounted low?

Hi Alex, I was wondering if you could help with this strange issue I am having with my G900. I installed it a few days ago and noticed the video from the rear camera is oscillating up and down. it is not obvious while driving but becomes noticeable when you are stationary. Initially I thought it might be because of the vibration from the engine but the strange thing is that this only happens during day time, at night the rear video is perfectly still. Do they all have this issue or is mine faulty? The seller has offered a refund but I really like the product and would prefer to have it replaced unless all G900 dash cams have this issue. I tried to do a firmware update but the dash cam does not give me the option/prompt to update it even though I have copied the update file to the SD card. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks for your time.
Hi! That is very strange, mine does not have this issue BUT I seen something like this on all dash cams (any brand, any model), not sure if this is what you are experiencing. What I seen is one of two things: Flickering or Vibration. Vibration is caused by the rear camera shaking and the image shown is not stable since the camera is vibrating (sometimes this is very subtle). The vibration can sometimes also increase when idling since the engine shakes a little more than when driving but I also seen it the other way around where vibration increases when driving as the car vibrates from the road surfaces. The second is flickering, the image has a rolling appearance (the Hz setting could be set wrong, I use 50hz for EU and 60hz for the USA). However I also seen flickering if the dash cam is pulling power (or taillight is connected for parking assist) from a sensitive circuit in the car that uses CANBUS or other communication protocol. The flickering is either noise from the communication or from Pulse Width Modulation. I would recommend contacting your installer to confirm the installation or you can contact Wolfbox for tech support if you want to bypass your installer, they may be able to walk you thru some troubleshooting steps. It is strange indeed, as I am an electrician myself and have installed countless 12v accessories in cars and four wheel drives but have never come across this situation. I was using the cigarette socket power supply cable (not hardwired) to power the dash cam. As you have mentioned the common issues are either flickering or vibration, but this doesn't appear to be either one. It looks a bit like a ripple effect transposed onto the image and the video actually gets recorded with that effect. The strangest part is that the problem disappears at night which makes me think it is neither vibration nor something to do with a sensitive circuit. I have changed every setting available so far but nothing has helped. I will try out the new rear camera once it arrives and will keep you posted. Cheers

Can you try putting in the SD card from Wolfbox G900 into an Apple device like an iPhone via SD card reader, or iMac, and see if the Apple device can view the recorded videos on the SD card. Some threads online suggest Wolfbox formatted SD cards are unreadable by Apple devices using MacOS and iOS. If this is true, then people with Apple devices won’t be able to access their recorded videos on the SD card from the G900. Is this true? Can you try it. Thanks.

Ah regarding the memory card, Wolfox uses the standard FAT32 format which is compatible with PC and based on what I see on Apple's site also compatible with iPhone and also Macs (FAT32 has been around for a long time lol). It's possible the issue is with the memory card reader. The other alternative would be G840H so you can use it with the App on your iPhone. @@AlexAutoFun I purchased the Wolfbox G900 recently and can confirm the Wolfbox G900 formatted SD card is incompatible with all Apple devices' MacOS and iOS. Tried different SD cards, tried with different Mac computers with different MacOS versions, tried with different iPhones, tried with different internal and external SD card readers. Nothing worked. Thinking it may be a defective G900, I bought another G900 and the same issue. It does work with Windows computer though.
@B-ye5zq Hi JH! That is strange, if you look at the drive properties, what file type does it show? I would say maybe a memory card issue but then the G900 would also not record or playback correctly and sounds like your does not have issues there. I will add to the list of videos to make how to access the files using an iPhone, that actually should make for a good video. In the meantime, I would recommend contacting Apple for tech support (if the issue is not being able to read FAT32) or contacting Wolfbox if you believe the issue is not related to the FAT32 drive format and please keep us posted on your findings. @@glennkuczer2960You're welcome Glenn! Ah yes Wifi is a feature that was not common on mirror dash cams (and still is not fully available yet). Wifi enabled mirror dash cams are fairly new to the market. The G900 for example never had wifi so that feature was not removed. Same with the T10 and G840, for years they were non-wifi enabled. Then as time passed, the T10 became the T10 plus and got the Wifi feature and now the G840 has it as well. So it may just be a matter of time before the G900 gets it (or a new model with Wi-Fi is released to replace the G900). I have a question, I want the screen to turn off when the ignition and engine is off, basically I want the camera to still record but I want the screen to be off when I’ve parked my car.
Is there a way do this?

Forgot to mention, I have correctly hardwired the unit as well so it has constant and ACC power.
Hi Richard! Correct, when correctly hardwired the screen will turn off and the dash cam will enter park mode (if enabled in the dash cam setting) when the car is off. I would have the installer check all the connections (ACC, BATT & GND) to confirm that they connected to the correct locations for ACC and BATT (I seen cases where the dash cam stays on constantly if ACC and BATT are reversed or connected to the incorrect locations that does not provide power at the correct time for both ACC and BATT) Here is my follow up detailed hardwire install if you want to see that process th-cam.com/video/K2iKXj82354/w-d-xo.html Cheers!
@@AlexAutoFun thank you very much for replying so quickly, I believe you are correct, I may have used two constant power inputs, that’s why the screen stays on when I’ve switched off the ignition.
What would you say would be the maximum and lowest AMP fuse for the official Wolf box hardwiring kit that I can use while using a piggy back fuse connector?
Hi Richard! While I know some installers have used a different AMP rating in some cases, I like to use the same AMP rating as what came with the kit to ensure I'm not deviating from the manufacturers spec and for warranty purposes.
