apparently morgan freeman is a HUGE king diamond fan and has seen him live hundreds of times. i just found that out when i was looking for pics of king diamond without face paint.
Per King... King Diamond is offended by rock bands’ use of satanic themes and imagery. But that’s where the similarity ends. “I haven’t seen very many of these bands that actually stand up for--or even know--what they’re singing about,” the Danish rocker said this week. “It’s more like they want to create an image that’s pure blood and gore, just trying to be as evil and nasty as possible.” Diamond is offended because he considers himself a bona fide satanist. When rival metal merchants incorporate satanic references into their music, he said, it’s “very obviously a gimmick.” And it’s one that demeans his beliefs. “Some people think that people who call themselves satanists are really like that, drinking the blood of babies and that sort of thing,” he said. “When I use the word Satan, it doesn’t stand for a guy with horns. To me, that word means the powers of the unknown, the powers of darkness. It’s not just power, it’s powers --and there’s a big difference. I don’t believe in heaven, and I don’t believe in hell as a place with flames where people are burning and having eternal pain. I don’t believe in that at all. I believe in a place I call ‘beyond.’ ”
I respect your honesty guys with all the different genres of music you react to, no matter the song, I even go back to your older reactions and still enjoy it all, no matter how many times I've heard/listened to each one, so love you guys for all that
Morning fellas! I think I was 11 or 12 when I first heard king diamond! My friend Christine had that cassette tape next to Alice n chains and I was like what's this? And lo behold king diamond,I'd never heard anything like him and enjoyed him! Lol🤓😁 this song is pretty damn Kool!
Dudes! I eff with King Diamond and Mercyful Fate! So talented and just great music. THAT voice! ,"Grandma what was it like? To be on that holiday site?"
King Diamond and Mercyful Fate were such a huge influence on so many of us in the mid-eighties If you were into what would be considered underground metal at the time. They were such a flagship even though their music doesn't necessarily come across as black metal by today's standards, it was definitely a cornerstone of occult focused music back then just picture it as black metal as played by Judas Priest, for example. Period They along with Venom and Celtic Frost , Kreator Sodom...These are all incredibly important bands to the history of what is now considered extreme metal.Very cool to see you guys Appreciating the king in this day and age .
Singer is King Diamond aka Kim Bendix Petersen. The band he fronted was Mercyful Fate. Unlike bands such as Jethro Tull or Pink Floyd, where there's no one named Jethro or Pink (except in the movie Pink Floyd's The Wall, where the main character is named Pink). It can be a little confusing...lol..
One of the best shows I've seen was King Diamond during the Puppet Master tour. He headlined for Behemoth, Nile, and the Black Dahlia Murder for just an amazing show! He ended the show with Sleepless Nights. We got to meet King after (and Nergal from Behemoth) and the dude was just awesome and kind to us for a good half hour.
After King Diamond became popular on Headbanger's Ball in the 80's, he had to change the way he did his face paint because Gene Simmons of Kiss sued him, claiming it looked too similar.
This song came from 1 of 2 albums that was a concept story. The 2 albums titled Them/Conspiracy follows a young man named King, his sister Missy, mother and Grandma. In Them King stumbles upon his grandmas secret she has a teapot with dark powers. When filled with blood spirits from beyond come to her and share stories but the spirits are Evil in the sense they crave blood and each time they are fed the get stronger. At first King is seduced by it and sits for Tea Time with Grandma. Soon his sister Missy finds out and is horrified. She fights against the grandma as she is using there mothers blood to fill the teapot. Missy is no match for the spirits and is soon chopped up with an axe and burnt in the fire place. At the death of his sister King comes to his senses and realizes the spirits and Grandma must be stopped. He tricks Grandma to come outside for a walk the subsequently tears her throat out with his teeth. The cops come, the spirits go into submission and King is sent to the looney bin. The mother is not herself. That pretty much cover the Them album. Then in Conspiracy the story gets more sinister. If you guys ever get the chamce i highly reccomend you go through both albums with lyrics to follow the story to its end.
A friend of mine had this kool looking CD and I was what's this,he told me it was the worst thing he had ever heard and I could have it if I wanted. The CD was Abigail by king diamond and I've been a fan ever since lol
I think when I hit my late 30s early 40s is the best. I feel I've learned a lotta life lessons and I'm wiser and more grown up! They say women hit their prime in their early 40s......😉 Lol..... !!!!
Great reaction 🤘🖤😎 There's an old saying that says women are like Sunflowers, most glorious in their final stage and then they go to seed💚🌻 I personally adore sunflowers, it was my first tattoo LOL but seriously ever since I moved into my mom's house (in a 55+ community) to take care of her I've noticed that the happiest people I've ever met in my entire life are in their 70s! Granted this is probably only true for people who are in relatively good health still without too much physical pain, and enough money to play after retirement, without those two things probably a different story altogether. Also for women, sorry if it's TMI but menopause has a big say in how your 40s early 50s are going to be... it can turn a relatively happy existence into something unrecognizable LOL so if you're okay with shifting physical Beauty I think 50s or 60s is probably the happiest time for women, you finally get to enjoy what you've been building for decades, and there's still enough time to scrap it all and reinvent yourself if you need to!✌🧡🌟🌻🖤
Wow that guitar work was 🔥.. while his voice is not like ronnie James dio this song made me wish he was still around. Ronnie was into the occult. Again guitar work was great, little bit of oz feel to it but it was incredible. Like to hear more. I learn about new artists from u guys all the time. Luv smokeys shirt
About Michael Jackson's stage voice. Reportedly, there is a recording of him doing voice -over work for grand theft auto san andreas, but died during production. It would be the only recording of Michael's real voice. Unlike Michael Jackson, Barry Gibb (From The Brothers Gibb, {bg's})sang in both a falsetto and a normal voice, though was only popular when singing in a higher vocal range.
Please do the Halloween special again! I have a perfect song for that week, Bloody Hammers, let the sleeping corpses lie. I saw king diamond during mayhem, great show. If you want a true devil worshipping band? DEICIDE! Glen Benton burned and inverted cross on his forehead. Saw them years ago with septicflesh.
There are some clips on TH-cam from the mid-eighties of King doing interviews about his belief in the satanic doctrine and how he found it to be a religion that made sense for humanity at that moment in time, much more so than other things he had pursued. these days, who knows? he ha Defended the Satanic principles for the majority of career.. .Which isn't to say the stupid ass Hollywood -ized version where everyone thinks they're constantly drinking blood and blah blah blah… by the way, he runs a pug dog charity as well, which is awesome?
King isa self proclaimed Satanist, and he loves presenting the aesthetics of Satanism & horror imagery…the album “Conspiracy”, is awesome. Try to react to songs from it. This one is great but try out “Lies”, “Amon Belongs to Them”, “The Wedding Dream”, “At The Graves” & “A Visit From the Dead”….all badasss 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
There are several European metal bands that claim to be hardcore satanists. King Diamond, Nergal of Behemoth, Watain, Gorgorath…there’s Anton LeVay, the belief of one and rejection of commercial religion satanist, and really dark stuff. No thanks, but everyone chooses their path.
King diamond Welcome Home , and the lake both amazing you truly should do them songs King openly refers to himself as a true Satanist as his religion , his name us King Diamond the singer the band actually use to use another name now they all his band he used to sing for merciful fate I think he is more offended by more modern satanic bands rather than bands like danzig
Satanic panic in the 80s bands capitolizing on it. Venom was funny to the point they admitted they sucked at playing instruments but hell our albums sell.
King Diamond did consider himself a Satanist, following Anton LaVey's satanic sect. This is according to Wikipedia. I don't think he's a practicing Satanist these days...
Check out Them or The Eye awesome albums. But you have to do the songs in order because each album is a story. Them is about demons The Eye is about witches Enjoy my friends.
I just don't care for King Diamond it's not my thing, I've seen him live and was not impressed but then again I'm a huge Kiss fan I maybe in the 1 percent and I'm okay with that
Yes he is a Satanist, it isn't what most people think. You should listen to the whole album "Them" Or " Conspuracy" they are the same story, this song is the first one on conspiracy
Amazing song by an amazing band . King diamond d is a real satanic and no , you don’t have to go to a church to be satanic 😂, we just register online but that’s about it , satanism is a way of live and not really a religion or cult
Yes, he is a satanist. He's spoken about it a lot, even stating he used to have Anton Lavey's home number. He speaks normally, not high pitched. He has a bit of his Danish accent still. His faith is a philosophy not based in the Judeo-Christian mythology.
Do you two know that I await your reactions because I'm very depressed and they make me smile.. ? Just wanted you to know❤
Same here.. brightens my day
Same 💜
That's good.

HELL YEA PLEASE MORE KING DIAMOND AND MERCYFUL FATE!!!
apparently morgan freeman is a HUGE king diamond fan and has seen him live hundreds of times. i just found that out when i was looking for pics of king diamond without face paint.
I saw them like 15 years ago in LA and Morgan Freeman was there!!! It was at that moment I learned he was a pretty big metal lover.

Such a great venue in philly the Fillmore! Love this song. King has always surrounded himself with great musicians.
Thank you for reacting to my recommendation, I saw Mercyful Fate (King Diamond) live last week on April 28th in Brazil.
Just saw King two weeks ago in Silver Spring, MD… 68 years old now and still absolutely kills it!
His first band, Mercyful Fate, were a huge influence on both thrash and black metal.
Such a great live band. The guitarists Mike Wead and Andy LaRocque, bass player Pontus Egberg and the phenomenal Matt Thompson on the drums.
I respect your honesty guys with all the different genres of music you react to, no matter the song, I even go back to your older reactions and still enjoy it all, no matter how many times I've heard/listened to each one, so love you guys for all that

Check out any king diamond interview, he speaks normally and is an intelligent man
If these guys are still rappers after this, then they are beyond saving. :)
King diamond is really original. I really like his songs. It's great that you reacted to it

Hell yeah brothas!! I'm going to see him in Indianapolis a week from tomorrow!!!!!! 🤘🤘🤘

It was actually the Conspiracy album cover. Gene caught a glimpse of it somehow.
His mic stand is made of real human bones. Facts!
WOW! THEY STILL KICK ASS!

Missy? Is that you? COME CLOSER!!!!!!!!
The one riff reminds me of Bark at the Moon
I feel like I’m at the best point in my life right now (at 47). I was a neurotic mess in my 20s 😩
Great reaction!! Epic track!! Glad you dug it!!

It's been 84 years. - Old Lady from Titanic movie.
Please check out "Halloween" next from this same show!
They already did that one. They even mentioned it in the video before they started the reaction.
King Diamond has some of the best metal riffs in metal, and almost every song has at least 2-3 solid riffs or badass drumming bars.
I think when I hit my late 30s early 40s is the best. I feel I've learned a lotta life lessons and I'm wiser and more grown up! They say women hit their prime in their early 40s......😉 Lol..... !!!!
Greetings from Helsinki, Finland. King Diamond is my "god" since 1987.

You know these guys get your it!
Before King Diamond, before KISS, Arthur Brown wore what later came to be known as corpse paint in the late 1960s
He's a great dude. Even the guys in Stryper like him "STRYPER's MICHAEL SWEET: KING DIAMOND Is 'One Of The Nicest Guys I've Ever Met'"
King Diamond hung out with Layne Staley once. There’s an old black & white photo of them at a table with beers together.
GREAT REACTION
It took this long for KING DIAMOND? LOL. you guys are great. Love the channel.

Great reaction! Should check out King Diamond Abigail
As high as his voice is, when he sings, he doesn't actually sound like a woman; he especially doesn't in interviews.
He's singing mostly Falsetto or head voice. His low "growl" voice is closer to his speaking voice.
It will never happen in my lifetime, but Mercyful Fate should be inducted into the Rock HOF!
30 to 40 best years
Never heard of this band. Guitarist sounds great. 😊
I personally don’t know of any band that uses the imagery and are actually satanist. 🤷♀️
Secure? At least the ones i have encountered are in mid life crisis still in late 40s early 50s
