Look. The best way I find to introduce King Diamond is to explain that it's a story from beginning to end. And he is singing the various individuals in the story and narration
@Colin-ro6lh oh, I know. I've been following them for a long time. She's gotten a lot more knowledgeable over the years, but I agree. Her and T are a lot like me and my wife. I'm the hard-core metalhead and she's more into more poppy music, but over the years she likes some of the more "introductory" metal.
Sleepless nights, family ghost, and a visit from the dead are all ‘easy’ songs to introduce the King to people. A lesser known song of King’s I love is “a broken spell”….killer acoustic section in it!
If you want a whole album for Halloween, you cannot go wrong with King Diamond, as all of his albums (save for 2) are full-concept albums : [1987] ABIGAIL [1988] THEM [1989] CONSPIRACY (a direct sequel to Them) [1990] THE EYE (based on actual historical events) [1996] THE GRAVEYARD [1998] VOODOO [2000] HOUSE OF GOD [2002] ABIGAIL II : THE REVENGE [2003] THE PUPPET MASTER [2007] GIVE ME YOUR SOUL, PLEASE The other 2 albums have "mini stories" made up of about half the album, with all other songs being standalone tracks : [1986] FATAL PORTRAIT : The Candle, The Jonah, The Portrait, Haunted [1995] THE SPIDER'S LULLABYE : The Spider's Lullabye, Eastmann's Cure, Room 17, To The Morgue Standalone tracks that are very "Halloweeny" : Halloween, Lurking In The Dark, The Lake, From The Other Side, Six Feet Under, The Poltergeist Then there is Mercyful Fate, with a few standalone "Halloween" tracks : At The Sound Of The Demon Bell (Halloween), Desecration Of Souls, Come To The Sabbath, A Dangerous Meeting, Thirteen Invitations, The Bell Witch (based on a true story), Legend Of The Headless Rider, In The Shadows, Return Of The Vampire, The Witches' Dance, The Mad Arab (Part I : The Vision), The Mad Arab (Part II : Kutulu), The Uninvited Guest, The Lady Who Cries, Last Rites, The House On The Hill, Buried Alive And even though this is not actually King Diamond, AND I think you may have reacted to it already, I'll mention it anyway : Volbeat with King Diamond - Room 24
The whole "Them" album. It's classic. "The Eye" is really good as well. It's about a witch that was burned at the stake and getting revenge on the corrupt priests
@tipigi3570 that's a great one too. Honestly, I love them all, but "them" was my introduction to King Diamond. It was given to me from a friend in HS. "The Eye" was the first one I bought. So, they are kind of nostalgic for me.
That not true, at least 2 albums only half are the story, fatal portrait and one of the later ones, I wanna say the spiders lullaby, and the movie Abigail didn’t involve king in any way shape or form
54 years old. Been a fan of King Diamond since his days in Mercyful Fate. So much depth to his music and lyrics. He’s also a great storyteller. I always wished that his albums would be made into movies. What great horror films they would be.
Mikkey Dee played drums on this record. as a matter of fact he played on 4 consecutive records considered the most legendary in King Diamond discography. on these records he played a massive Sonor Phonic seamless ferromanganese snare drum in 8x14 size. these drums are worth a fortune nowadays and are sought after.
The vocal technique of King bendix Petersen is solid. The Falsettone the trendmark of Diamond. King storie is gothic horror inspiration and Esoteric reading.
Judas Priest - nightcrawler King diamond - the poltergeist wasp - widowmaker Powerwolf - night of the werewolves Theses are a few great metal songs for Halloween.
The entirety of King Diamond’s catalog is more conceptual and theatrical. In many ways is more complicated and sophisticated musically and lyrically and probably less satanic I guess. At least this feature is much more toned down. As much as I love it, it is still indeed like a Halloween decoration ( a convincing one, mind you) compared to Mercyful Fate’s “Don’t break the Oath”. The title track still sends shivers down my spine, so I agree with you completely . PS: For people unaware - Mercyful Fate is the original band to which King Diamond (original name is Kim Petersen) was a lead vocal and left to form his solo project named after himself - King Diamond, somewhere in 1985. Both bands are great, though
@metalstorm7506 4 of the 5 original members got back together in the 90's before breaking up again in 2000's. They are however, as of 2022 back together and are working on a new album. Which I think is awesome!
I hadn't heard King Diamond since like '84, back when he blatantly claimed to be a practicing Satanic warlock, so hopefully, this'll be entertaining! 🤞😜🤘
@@yuyaricachimuel555 I was Luciferian, so I'm aware of unique types of, thereby, "which-craft", ;butt I still chuckle 'cause many are fakes, wannabe's at most. 🙄 Not all tho'. 🤔
Halloween tunes that are NOT King Diamond : You cannot possibly go wrong with the Iced Earth album HORROR SHOW [2001]. The songs are all based on Golden Age Hollywood movie monsters and similar figures : Transylvania (Iron Maiden cover) Dracula Frankenstein Im-Ho-Tep (The Pharoah's Curse) Dragon Child (The Creature) Wolf Jekyll & Hyde The Ripper (Judas Priest cover) Jack Damien The Phantom Opera Ghost

I love you TNT and I love me some King Diamond, but sometimes life gets in the way, sorry for the 4 month delay with my comment. Unfortunately, she's not into it, but that's OK. NEXT!
Remember: that is ONE MAN doing ALL those vocals!
Look. The best way I find to introduce King Diamond is to explain that it's a story from beginning to end. And he is singing the various individuals in the story and narration
Shes not used to this type of music or especially the vocal style Shes into boring chart(modern) RnB etc

I believe this Halloween 🎃 is a perfect opportunity for a King Diamond marathon
I do that every year 🤘
If you want a whole album for Halloween, you cannot go wrong with King Diamond, as all of his albums (save for 2) are full-concept albums :
[1987] ABIGAIL

[2000] HOUSE OF GOD
[2002] ABIGAIL II : THE REVENGE
[2003] THE PUPPET MASTER
[2007] GIVE ME YOUR SOUL, PLEASE
The other 2 albums have "mini stories" made up of about half the album, with all other songs being standalone tracks :

"Mansion in the Darkness" is on my Top10 songs all time.

THEM is my FAVE
You have to remember the entire album is the story not just that song. every King diamond album is a story front to back.
That not true, at least 2 albums only half are the story, fatal portrait and one of the later ones, I wanna say the spiders lullaby, and the movie Abigail didn’t involve king in any way shape or form
If you read my comment below you will see that I pointed out that fatal portrait is only half a story and it is the only one@@RyanTelfer

King Diamond is the ultimate storyteller in his music.
King Diamond's BEST album IMO.

The best metal ever created imo! This and THEM!
For an album reaction try Kind Diamond, The portrait. It contains the song, Halloween. Doesnt get more Halloween than that. Lol
Fatal Portrait
King Diamond is amazing on so many levels
The vocal technique of King bendix Petersen is solid. The Falsettone the trendmark of Diamond. King storie is gothic horror inspiration and Esoteric reading.

The Family Ghost, one of my favorites.
I just saw king diamond last night in Indianapolis and he closed with Abigail!! Excellent concert 😊
Judas Priest - nightcrawler
King diamond - the poltergeist

Powerwolf - night of the werewolves
Theses are a few great metal songs for Halloween.
And Helloween - Halloween 🎃 also
Glad you guys are back!
Don't Break The Oath- Mercyful Fate 1984. I'm a grown ass man and that album still terrifies me.
😂😂😂

Alice Cooper. Welcome to my nightmare. Another fantastic concept album
Good reaction❤
🤘😎
I hadn't heard King Diamond since like '84, back when he blatantly claimed to be a practicing Satanic warlock, so hopefully, this'll be entertaining! 🤞😜🤘
He is a satanist, and he’s not joking about it either.
He’s just not the blood sucking and sacrificing type of person most people say satanists are.

@@maggedo-x1s yeah, during the 80s satanic panic, King was the only one accurately pointed out as satanic.

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Maybe do Helloween for Halloween
Halloween album : Welcome To My Nightmare by Alice Cooper
A good song for next Halloween would be the comedy group The Black Satans and their song The Mutilation Of Christ.
Try the king diamond puppet master album, the song "blue eyes", but the whole album story is great for halloween
Head on the Wall and Uninvited Guest 2 great ones
King Diamond is an artist of entire albums not particular songs
he's like 80 and just started a 2024 us tour
I was scared the first time I heard this.
You guys should react to The Headless Horseman by Geoff Castellucci. I think you'll love it.
Tee, TSOL, Dance With Me, sans Code Blue lol
