OMG! Thanks so much! It worked a little different for me but it still worked. After requesting the config file and opening it, I only had to change the part where it says: "Manufacture programming mode *Unlocked to --> *Lock. And after making this change following the rest of your video.

that was up above.. below I entered data, it accepted all but the BID and locking programming mode

1 character in the BID was tough to read, looked like an I but when magnified could be an f as it looks like a crossbar, may try again with capital i, a lower case L, or the lower case F and see it if accepts the data, the lacking of the mode was the issue.. likely a virus hit the unit, using the HP utility they once released for entering that mode. I used to be HP field tech not sure if IDs work maybe some software available online under my tech ID,,, hate to use when not on a ticket though...

I rebooted, entered BIOS exited and saved and now it boots up without stating in that mode even though appeared toggled when checked.. had some error about 3 of the entries on 1st boot, but they were gone after subsequent boots.. not sure what that was about,, may try again with FB but the all Fs for windows is likely issue why will not authenticate..

Very helpful tutorial. As an HP elitebook user that recently replaced a motherboard, this tutorial made a difference. Never found a reason to use the free HP Bios utility until today. It is always available for download in the HP driver page. The other tutorial are confusing. I guess in this case, thank you for staying with HP available tools
