    You gave tatting a new look.
    We used this lace in dresses but your idea of using them as an ornament is so unique.
    Thank you.

    Thank you for posting such clear and easy to follow instruction. I also like that on some of your videos you replay in slow motion. I just bought shuttles to learn to tat, and I am ready to throw them across the room! So tomorrow I will purchase a set of tatting needles and follow your directions.

    Thanks for the welcome Maria. I will definitely keep checking your videos -they are very clear and u go at a reasonable pace so I don't have to stop the video and go back a bunch of times! That is really helpful for people like me who don't have any experience with this at all! I think alot of the videos assume that u have at least some experience or that u have crochet or other needlework skills. Thank u for some really great info! ~Rose

    I was able to do this. this the first one I was able to completely do AND correct mistake by myself! finally. I did look at others first and was able to do those slowly first but after I was ok with the regular stitch I was able to not only understand and complete this was great for me! thank you and the remove the string turn work and reattach was a great thing to learn. Thanks a whole lot.

    Hi Maria, I've been working on a split ring chain for a gift. My problem is I can make 2 rings fine except for the 3rd one wants to go sideways.Has yours done that?

    • @MariaPapia
      @MariaPapia  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you are done with your tatting project , spray some starch all over your work then lay it flat and while is wet make sure all the rings look flat and face the way you want. I think this will help. Let me know ...;-)

    Hi again, is there an easy way to determine how much thread is needed on the end so I have enough to do all the split rings I want to make? Sorry to be such a bother, but this is new to me, and I like tatting a lot. Thanks for any help you can give me.

    • @MariaPapia
      @MariaPapia  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends how long you want your tatting project. Just to give you an idea. If you are Making a bracelet you want to leave about a 12 -18 inch of tail. If you are making a necklace maybe about 40inch. But you can always add more thread ;-)

    It looks like you did 4 DS between picots. I'm confused on that. I have been told to count that first DS after you make the picot as your first DS. I watched you on the video and it looked like you made the picot...finished the DS and then made 3 more DS...that is a total of 4. But you say to make 3.

      @@MariaPapia both cost ma'am

    • @MariaPapia
      @MariaPapia  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I don't really sell my jewelry. To make a tatting piece is not that expensive. The thread cost from $2.50 -$ 8.00 dollars and the needles are about $15.00 plus. The beads are $2.00-$10.00 and if you are making something that needs a clasp or hooks then you add that cost of the clasps and hooks. It just depends what you want to make and the type of beads and thread. Some are cheap and some are not. I hope this answers your question.

  • @clairebacchi6398
    @clairebacchi6398 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I hope I can do it. I never expected that the thread would come off the needle. I can't thread the needle without a needle threaders. LoL! You are a good teacher, but I also wish you could go slower. But I hit the pause button to catch up, and my Ipad shuts off b4 I am done. Does YT charge you for the time used? Just wondering because some YTber's get a lot of time. I wish I knew you. I like your accent and know we could be friends! You are sweet. :-)))

    • @MariaPapia
      @MariaPapia  10 ปีที่แล้ว
