THANK-YOU for doing a demo on NEEDLE tatting, instead of shuttle tatting! This is how I was taught as a child, and for YEARS now, I have been searching for the tatting that my Nan taught me as a 6 year old. She was Irish,(One of 18 children to survive childhood) and this was the first of two ways all the girls in her family were taught to make Lace.(You were expected to make the lace for your wedding veil and dress, before you could make lace to sell.) You have returned to me something very dear to my heart! I learned this first because it IS actually much simpler than crocheted lace. Later I could find books galore on knitting and crocheting, but not on that first love Needle Tatting.
I love how you begin by saying that, basically, you're sharing what you've learned, yourself! You keep it real. The "proper" words, stitch names etc didn't stop you from learning! That inspires people just like me 😊🌹 So thank you so much for sharing
who is up at 8 in the morning learning to tat in 2021?? Meeeeeeee! Thanks soo much! Because of you I am a youtuber! I love your tutorials!!! Thank you soo much for the tutorials!
I like the way you repeat the technique several times...I never had to stop the video and go back. Also you have a very clear voice and speak at the right pace, with confidence. Enjoyed it!
Ok .. I couldn't wait any longer to get my tatting needle .. So I just made one! I had a Brocken reed crochet hook, just the hook bit snapped off. So after getting so amped up seeing the BEAUTIFUL earrings we can all make I thought hmm how could I make a needle. So I drilled a hole in one end and have made a point on the other and am using very thing yarn and it works beautifully!! Thankyou! You are amazing at teaching, I picked it up like REALLY easy :)) bless!
Since I quit smoking I started to watch all your videos and I really love it because I learn more how to crochet. And now i wanna know how to tat tat tat haha love the way you say that :-) thanks for this video now I think im gonna learn how to tat. Thank you so much God bless and kisses from me Grace from Phillipines
You are great OVW. Keeping it simple and real. Watched several videos before yours and they all made it too complicated. Your the best teacher, I appreciate your videos and skill.
Thank you for one of the best needle tatting tutorials. I already tat using a shuttle, but wanted to learn this. Just stop apologising because there is no need, you're good at this.
I just learned to tat with a shuttle this weekend and it is just so hard with the way you hold the thread. Your video shows another much easier way and I can't wait to find some needles. Thank you for the great video!
wow,,,after all these years....idk if I can make anything yet, but I could never understand this first part. Thank you so much....haven't seen the other videos yet, but I did this part just using a pencil and yarn just to see if I could do it. Yey me!!!.
You are a VERY good teacher :) I have shuttle tatted since I was 12 but recently learned needle tatting and love both methods- great video- very clear and helpful- thank you :)
Hello. I liked your video as I do all of them. I first saw tatting from a woman who does speed tatting, it's the same technique. I don't really like the shuttle but ne ways her site is called rusty Kate, she makes amazing things n she's been doin it for a long time. She also teaches how to read patterns. I saw your earrings from someone who said they learned from you n loved them so I want to make them when I can see betta. I'm still learnin. loved your work. Thanx, much love, God bless.
this is cool, when you were casting on the stitch's on your tatting needle it looked like you were casting on knit & purl stitch's...... can't wait to see video 2 to see how they are worked out!!!!
Thank you so very much!! I used to needle tat , but was self taught, had no one to help. After four strokes, I have forgotten how. , so having this tutorial is wonderful! Shalom, another prov 31 lady
all i have to say..Is if it wasn't for your video, I would still be looking at this dang yarn and needle..I have been so lost and confused..-THANK YOU..for teaching me the basics..
This is Very much like Casting On in Knitting, so this was easy for me. I SO appreciate that you went over things for folk who might not be familiar. Good Work!
Thank you for being so thorough in showing how to make the basic stitch, Your video is very clear and easy to understand and follow. Good Job, two thumbs up. I got my tatting needles at Hobby Lobby.
I loved your video. The only thing I do different is that I use my thumb for the fitst half stich and muy pointing finger for the second half, it is faster. Thanks for your time and lovely teaching, never stop!!!
I was thinking about doing shuttle tatting but after watching one of their training videos I was about to give up, but then I just watch your video and you have made it look so simple and much easier with the needles. Thanks for being a great teacher (explaining well and repeating a few times) GREAT JOB.
Thank you!!! 👏🏽 Tatting looks so beautiful, but I was intimidated by it bc it looked difficult. You explained it so amazingly well and now I'm excited to try it! Thank you so much! 😘 God bless!
I'm so excited that you did your first tatting tutorial! I have to get a needle now. I've been looking into tatting & the finished product looks awesome. You make it look so easy. I know I can definatly do this. Thanks OVW! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for making these videos. I started crocheting as a way to keep my hands busy when I quit smoking. Seems I'm a natural. Now I'm ready for something a little more challenging. I just can't decide between tatting or needle felting. Maybe.... both. LoL. Thanks again and I subbed!!!
You are doing just fine! There are larger needles but they are used to tat with yarn. The #2-0 for smallest yarn like fingerling,#1-0 is for worsted yarns and #0-0 needle is for chunky weight. I just happened to fine a set at a Ben Franklin store. Handy Hands carries all sorts of needles and thread. You can call what you are doing whatever you like. I am happy you were brave to do a video~I would be scared to death! Go Girl,go!
Hi ...may be you don’t do this any more ...but I am new and would like to learn more you are the best I have come across so Far.....would like to read pattons and so on ...thank you ..

Obviously I won't make the earrings with this .. But neck pieces and all sorts of things you could use the large sized tagged pieces. Stitched onto granny squares or something I dunno .. :) Someone is picking up a size 3 needle for me though hopefully this week :)) I'm so excited like a little child. Thanks again.
I am going to try this ! I have tried to learn to Tat with a tatting shuttle but haven't been able to do that. I wish I had known about this years ago. My DH's grandma tatted with a shuttle, and she made 15 yards of lace to go around my children's Christening Gown
You are a good teacher, you take your time and explain it well. You repeat which is excellent. As for terminology, your work is beautiful and neat, which is more important to me. Thank you so much:)
Thank you! Thank you!! you are such a good teacher!..I have seen a lot of videos and you are the best! I have leaned so much from you..please keep teaching!

I just watched your videos "Tat Tat Tatting 1-3" & "Let's Tat A Bracelet", you did an awesome job at teaching, I picked up how to tat tery quickly. So I searched for more videos & came across other woman teaching how to tat as well but using a shuttle. After viewing those videos, I instantly became very confused. Using a shuttle to tat is so darn difficult & I'm a quick learner. Why in the world would you use a shuttle when clearly a needle is far more easier? Doesn't make any sense to me, how about you? Have you tried using a shuttle? If so, what is your opinion? Thanks for your videos, you're an awesome teacher & I look forward to seeing future projects.
I am as well! lol "picot" the 't' is silent. i appreciate self-taught individuals and from there I've taken on to experimenting with different things and shapes and let me tell you, I'm SO excited how it's turned out! *xoxo
