    As you are taking the power from radio, will the camera video always show in the stereo screen? How can I switch between other stereo functions and back camera in the screen if I don’t connect camera with reverse light?

    • @Techgeniusideas
      @Techgeniusideas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can take the power anywhere else. It doesn’t have to do with reverse light. When you power the camera from somewhere, and the camera sends the signal to the system that there is camera and it will work. Otherwise, it is not going to recognize. Think about old computers, if you don’t plug it when you turn it on, it is not going to recognize and you have to restart it. It has the same system.

    Hi Folks!
    This short message is about mistakes that can be made during installation of backup camera GreenYi HD720 on your car.
    The booklet with instruction from manufacturer has two wiring diagrams, and none of them is correct when we talk about Camry 2012 Basic (also 2013 and maybe 2014).
    First of, the Camry uses + 6 volts for triggering and feeding their original camera (that's what I was told by the seller of harness) , and this makes potentially harmful for your car using +12 volt for triggering and feeding aftermarket cameras such as GreenYi HD720.
    More expensive models of Camri have a special connector for feeding their original camera, but since Basic model has no such connector, there is no reason to buy the original camera and pay for it triple price compare to GreenYi HD720.
    The second point is that the Camry DOES NOT require triggering for correct work AT ALL!
    At the very moment when you turn the gear to REVERSE position, the system tries to catch video signal and if it's detected it will be translated to the display right away.
    If system does not recognize the video signal, the screen stays the same.
    When you turn the gear to any other position like Parking or Neutral, system blocks video and return previous screen to display. As simple as that.
    So you can easily forget about triggering wires and leave them alone.
    But you do need to get additional single wire for getting +12 volts from other spot. It has to be just about same length as video cable. The size should be 18-20 AWG, copper is preferable.
    The camera suppose to work all the time because the time of detecting video signal is very short and camera has a delay between applying the voltage and getting itself into full working mod.
    For this reason you cannot use reverse light wires for getting +12 volts from them, it's just not going to work.
    You have to use additional cable and get voltage either from cigarette lighter, or from fuse box or from another connector on the radio which has +12v wire. I have used the last option (grey colored wire from the last connector on the right side of the radio, if you look in front of display).
    I've attached the ground (black) wire from camera to the frame. Everything works flawlessly now.
    That's all what I'd like to say. Good luck with installation! :)

    • @Techgeniusideas

    Quick question about wiring which i'm sure you've answered a million times by now. The camera has an two female connections, RCA and power. Also it comes with an RCA and power cable but what i'm confused about is; I wire the power cable for the camera with the red wire on the RCA cable too? I can ground the black wire from the power supply care to any ground. Essentially there is 1 power source (from the radio) going to both the RCA red cable AND the power cable, right?

    • @Techgeniusideas
      @Techgeniusideas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem. There are two connections you need to do. First, Power for the camera, you can get that from the fuse box or from the radio but you don’t have to use the radio power. You can get the negative from any metal part of the car. Sometimes red wire with comes with RCA cable.
      Red wire for +, the ground is -. Connect the camera to the radio. That is it.

    • @softwayre
      @softwayre 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Techgeniusideas I understand, when you mention "sometimes the red wire comes with RCA cable". My RCA cable came with red wire, do I need that one at all?

    • @Techgeniusideas
      @Techgeniusideas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh got it. That is the only red wire with RCA for the positive you can use it for the camera. You don't need anything else because you can get the negative everywhere.

    My memory is fuzzy because it's been 30 years since I've touched a car stereo harness. If I remember correctly, the blue and yellow is the continuous power line that draws from battery. I think you probably should connect the camera power to the grey wire (Toyota's ignition controlled powerline), or else the camera will always be powered on, even after your ignition is off.

      :) when you connect the red wire to the harness, it is not going to work when you turn on the car if you put the rear gear after the logo. It is because during the logo time, radio scans whatever the car has as equipments, if the camera didn’t get electricity from the rear light, radio doesn’t get the signal from the camera and it thinks there is no camera and skips but when you put the rear gear, it gets the electricity from the rear light when the logo appears and the radio recognizes that there is a camera and sends signals to the radio and back up camera system works. That is how it is :)
