mr. milholland has got a youtube channel now !! so cool to see the legend him self and his shop. im a tradesman so the legal eagle is very appealing to me for the cost to build. cant wait to start my build.
5:30 offsetting rudder, personally, i would not do that, its not just p factor but also the prop wash spinning like a tornado around the fuse and hitting the tail, which varies with engine and or prop. The way we altered this in the past is to offset the motor mount slightly to the right or left depending on rotation. Further, in a top wing the plane may nose up on throttle and a low wing nose over, so engine up or down slightly can overcome that as well.
How about a 3/8” peace of HDPE bent like a candy cane and attached at both ends for a tail wheel alternative? It would last forever on grass or could have a sacrificial peace added for repeated use on tarmac.
Any chance the fuselage loses strength and flight stability due to being too thin? You think a fuselage this light for a legal eagle XL should be for a more seasoned ultralight pilot? Always enjoy your videos Les. Thanks for sharing.
I would love to see an update video Les. Haven’t seen but a glimpse since the ground loop. I am very interested in your thoughts and suggestions.

Very interesting. All looks good and sounds good. Thank you Les for the video and the information. Stay safe.
Real nice job Les. Thanks for the look.
Looks great. You should build and sell these for people.
Looking good Les.
You da Man !!!
I too, would love to see an update. very interested in this lighter setup?
My Kolb had round aluminum struts encased in streamlined PVC... pretty light.
Jack where did you get the stream line pvc
Your the man Les! Can’t wait for the test flight!
Thanks Les
Nice plane, No Oshkosh :-(
Wow, that's a lot of good information.

Hope you have enough stability and control authority with the shortened tail moment AND smaller surfaces.
curious if you gas welded the fuselage or tig welded it?
Are you putting linseed oil inside the tubs?
I'd try that lite tubing for tge elevater and rudder. Aluminum tube on the the tail feathers seems under kill.
👍👍👍 ✊🛩️
nice touches. did you reduce length or cord of wing? by how much? do you loan your jigs? im in Turlock.
Les mighty tail wheel idea.
I have ordered the plans from Leonard this week would you be able to build me one just like this one
I only am involved in building parts for the Legal Eagle thru Legaleagleparts.com
Any interest in selling any of your Eagles?
