  • This one is the first of four I will eventually get restored, and I do love both the Kenwood TS530S and TS830S series, every shack should have one of each for sure. It's been a fun afternoon restoring this old girl and supremely happy with its final results. Cheers brenton vk3cm jdw229 pls subscribe and also feel free to join us on Facebook at Aussie Radio Pickers or vk ham sales and service anytime....

    One of the best HF transceivers ever made, regardless of the vintage.

    God bless you for posting this video. I just bought one that’s a little old and rusty looking in the top panel and a tad on the front face but it works just fine and I picked up a D-104 mic to boot so I’m excited to work on it and restore it a tad, this video and knowledge is so very valuable, thanks for sharing!

    The older hybrid radios are just beautiful with character. I have a Trio TS 520 in as new condition. It is just so much fun to use. I run it with a Shure 555 mic and she sounds fantastic..
    PS... Regarding the large voltage caps. Years ago in my C B days I had a large Zetagi kilowatt amp and while I was messing about inside with a screw driver where I shouldn't have been I touched the leads of a cap!!!!!!
    Put it like this.. I'll never need to take viagra with the dig I got off it!!!!!

    Got one just like it, first rig, bought used in the early 80s. Sat in storage for years. Took her out a few months ago and worked fine for a while, full power. Then got a poof of smoke when tuning her up. Any ideas? I was thinking one of the capacitors in the finals? Haven’t used it since cause I read that if a capacitor goes, it can damage other things down the line. Love the old hybrids, so will get her fixed. Never seen a rig that sounded better in receive. Tx.

    Hello
    Would you be so kind as to give me some advice?
    I have a Kenwood TS 530s with the following symptoms:
    In RX:
    heater=off, Reception is correct.
    heater=on, Reception is lost.
    In TX:
    Selector in SSB:
    IP readings: reading 0 Even negative,
    ALC readings: reading 0 Even negative,
    All components of the final step plate are in good condition.
    Could it be a valve12BY7a problem? or the electronics of its periphery?
    Thank you.
