Glad to find this video. Already fried one esc when I first did it without searching up a video on how to do it for the first time when setting it up. Appreciate the great work that has been done in making the video.
Thank you...I have this controller for my 30cc buggy....I actually didn't realise it had so many adjustments....what an excellent tutorial ...great vid ...
Hi Corey, You are welcome, and thanks for your feedback; I made a lot of effort to make this tutorial as informative and practical as I could. I don't work for the company. I bought this radio-control for my R/C car, learned its functionality and liked it. Then I decided to pass on this knowledge, so it would be easier for others to use it.
This Is got to be one of the best hi tec controller on the planet .. It works well with any scale cars and it looks awesome with very good price .. My baja runs great with this and I love all the features as well as easy trim control .. Very fast response as well
I went through multiple Futaba systems, and paid "Through the nose, for long distance. " (About 1000 feet), and although cool. IT wasn't worth it. I was able to fine tune 4 models, with mixed results. I ended up paying $75.00 for a new receiver, after it got water logged. (FUTABA does not offer a water proof receiver. ) WHY? . If running boats; that's a must . Bottom line. FUTABA is a total rip off, and you're paying for the name, and a lot of stuff, you don 't need. NOW, that same 4 channel receiver, is selling for $119? THAT'S nothing short of theft. BUT, to the point. I have own 3 of the Fly SKY GT3B systems, and all have preformed flawlessly, and have massive range, and WATERPROOF Receivers , by Default, and depending on source, can be purchased for as low as $5. SO, what are the big names (Spektrum , and Futaba doing, to justify the extra cost? NOW on my second radio, I have had the inexpensive radio, linked to four boats, and a Dune Buggy. I don't understand , why people think, they have spend a fortune on a "Cadillac R.C system," when they can buy, a "Mini Cooper," that does the exact same thing? THE look on people's faces, is priceless, or almost shocking. (Can't believe it) ...... Anyways. I am going to recommend FLY SKY over any of the BIG Name systems.
If only everyone culd get a point across like this. For some reason i struggle to understand more people every day. As if they are all turning in to the same robot or something. They open there mouth and out spills the nonsense. Surrounded by idiots i always say 😅
Hi Angel, The radio-controller has 10 model numbers to choose from (Each model number lets you adjust the settings of each property and then save those settings to that model) . You can reset the values of all the properties of a specific model number by: 1. Turn on the radio-controller 2. Choose the model number whose values you which to reset 3. Turn the steering wheel right, and while doing so, press the back button. You should hear a high pitch sound (I had this sound).
Thank you. The video is concise and very helpful. It helped to fix a problem I created by misprogramming ABS. ABS is very hard on the drive train for my electric cars, maybe is more useful on gas engines. For my electric car, I turned OFF. Excellent video !
A real ABS system has sensors on each wheel to get rotational speed feedback. With that feedback it regulates the braking system of that wheel accordingly. I am not sure this remote control - receiver is that versatile. You need that ability in the RC car as well. As I understand, this abs function is simply pulsating the brakes with an option of 3 modes - slow, normal or fast pulsating.
Thank you so much. I found this video very helpful for adjusting the end points. The manual is as clear as mud. I was having issues with forward speed with my newly built RC boat, which was due to the end point being set too low. I had no idea how that happened, but after watching this video I was able to max out the forward throttle end point. My boat now is very zippy. Thank you.
You don't need the AA battery box, it was just easier for me to show the binding process with it. The receiver that came with the remote-control is already binded. If you need for some reason to bind it, follow these steps: 1. install the receiver - channel 1 to steering wheel, channel 2 to the ESC 2. Follow the binding steps in the video, with the exception: instead of connecting the AA battery box to channel 2, connect the ESC to channel 2. Everything else is the same.
Hello, I bought this receiver new along with the radio, the only thing is that it makes a strange noise as if there are some internal parts moving inside the receiver if shake it. Of course, without power, almost like something mechanical is oscillating inside.Does it do this also in yours. thank you!!
ok, so installed this reciever in my slash, confused about binding...i dont have a little power box with AA batteries...do I plug a nimh w traxxas connector directly into channel 2 to bind? excuse my ignorance
Eyal C, do u work 4 the company? Because this is a very very good and informative tutorial!!!!! you did a very good job teaching me about this car... thanx alot man!!!
To add to this, if you position your throttle trigger while pressing the set button, the failsafe will set the throttle to where you are holding it with the trigger. I have no reverse so I pressed the set button while holding the brake on. Now the brake comes on if I turn off the transmitter or lose the signal.
Heyy.... great video!!! It's really hard to find people who explain this well. I know I'm a bit late but- I'm making an electric go-cart as a project and was wondering if I could connect this receiver to something that powerful (500w-1000w). The usual throttles that are used to control the go-cart take a similar input of 6v so I thought this could work. They also have one negative, one positive and one control wire and output ~1v to ~4 v (no throttle to full throttle). Can you measure the voltage output range of the receiver? connect the negative pin of the receiver to the negative of a multimeter and the control pin to the positive of the multimeter and test the voltage range with no throttle and full throttle. This would help me out a lottttt!!!! Hope you read this.
Full Throttle RC, did you switch the ESC / Motor when you upgraded the radio? It sounds like the motor is running backwards, but Channel 1 is also reversed, so "forwards" still goes forwards but braking is messed up. You need to reverse Channel 1 and switch the motor direction. Braking is handled in the speed control, not the transmitter.
I am helping a friend who has upgraded his radio. When the throttle on the transmitter is in the neutral position the motor turns. Throttle trim does not go far enough to cancel the motor. How do I calibrate the ESC to the radio so the motor will stop when the trigger is released? thanks in advance Allen
Hi eyal i have a issue with my controller. When i got it the steering is backwards. I turn right and it goes left. Im new to this and was wondering if you would mind making a short video showing how to reverse it on the controller. A lot of people tell how online but when your new and don't know everything its still real confusing, thanks a lot.
Hi afallenstar4u, I assume you have the FlySky remote controller ? If so, look at "Reverse 1:19" chapter in this video. This chapter demonstrate how to reverse direction on the throttle channel which is channel 2. The same idea applies to the steering wheel channel which is channel 1.
I finally got around to setting up a second vehicle on this transmitter. I think I may have gotten duplicate receivers, or maybe it's supposed to work like this. I can control both vehicles with either profile. I assumed that switching from one profile to another would disconnect the transmitter from the previous vehicle. I purchased two extra receivers when I bought the Transmitter. Is it normal to be paired to two receivers on the same profile. It's not much of an issue since I would never be trying to drive both vehicles at the same time, but it can be an annoyance if I forget to turn the first vehicle off after the battery runs down, and then it recovers enough to respond to the transmitter when I switch to the second vehicle.
Hi Larry, I would assume the same thing as you regarding switching from one profile to another, but different companies have different ways of doing staff, so you can never know for sure (unless they give that info). If you keep the following habit you won't have any trouble: ALWAYS TURN OFF OTHER RC CARS BEFORE TURNING ON ANOTHER. Just make it a habit :)
hey Eyal, I have a question 4 u... I noticed that my blue LED backlight on the receiver is not functioning, is there a setting that can be adjusted? I have contacted FlySky and it's been over a week and no response
I just started using RC cars and I cannot bind my flysky. I have the exact same set up as you do in your video. I can bind it but when I remove the battery from the receiver and turn off and back on the controller, I lose the binding and receiver starts flashing again.. please help me understand what could be wrong...
Hi, first let's make sure things are done in the right order. Binding wire is inserted to channel 3. The receiver must get power in order to do the binding. This can be done by the proper external battery (if you have such) inserted to the Vcc socket OR the power can be given by the ESC connected to channel 2. You must not use both. BE CAREFUL when binding if you choose to use the ESC connected, because the car throttle can run unexpectedly, so be sure to hold the car safely. The directions in the video worked for me, but let's make a change (According to page 9 instruction F from the manual). Follow the instruction in the video with the following change - remove the Binding wire BEFORE you remove the battery (or ESC) from the receiver. Only then remove the battery from the receiver. Tell me if that solved the problem. The manual can be found here: fccid.io/N4ZFLYSKYGT3B/User-Manual/User-Manual-1769993
The remote controller in the photo is the same remote controller: www.kingmotorrc.com/buggy/ksrc-001-baja-buggy-26cc-4-bolt-wild-grey/ and the receiver should be similiar, the binding should be the same. Since this is a gas RC which I am not experienced with, I am not sure how the controller interprets the signals from the receiver regarding the failsafe and other settings. You can try to adjust the settings like in the video of this postings and see how it affects the car, but it might be dangerous and affect the car in a wrong way. If you decide to do it on your own risk, I would advise that you CAREFULLY place the car on a stand in a stable position firmly so the driving wheels cannot touch the floor and excidentaly move the car. Then you can experiment and find some answers. BUT, BE CAREFULL. VERY CAREFULL. Gas cars can have a lot of power. If you are not sure what you are doing, then don't do it. The first thing I would set is the fail-safe function. If that is good, the rest would be much safer. Good luck
Excellent video. I am new to R/C. I am experiencing a small delay in the transition from reverse to forward. Is this an ESC or transmitter setting issue?
First, please specify your ESC and Reciever/Transmitter models. If you have the exact same specification as presented in this video then it might be remote controller settings. What you describe seems like you have the EPA limited at the forward speed (unless your motor is reverse wired and then you would have EPA limited at the reverse speed). For checking, I would suggest you change the EPA for both directions to its maximum (100%) and see if it helps, but be carefull because the speeds can get fast. If it helps then this is your problem. I beleive this problem I described arise from the receiver+remote control which handle the braking syste according the EPA. Please let me know your findings.
Eyal C I have the Castle Creations Mamba Max Pro ESC and my transmitter is the same one in your video. I THINK the EPA is set to 100% in both directions, but I will confirm that when I get home from work. Thanks for your help!
Steven Cruz Also check the ABS settings in the remote controller. If that doesn't help then it might be an ESC issue. I found this post about ESC lag. Maybe it can be of help: www.rctech.net/forum/electric-off-road/280957-mamba-max-pro-146.html
The manual says you can, but I did not see any transformer specifications. I personally charge the batteries through a dedicated charger XTAR VC4. I believe dedicated chargers protect the battery overcharge better.
+JDMbyBlood I have just checked it with the remote control and yes you can. I haven't tried to connect a servo to the receiver on the 3rd channel, but I don't think there should be a problem.
hey, i have the exactly same receiver with yours. When i plug in a servo in channel 3 (for other purpose), the original servo that plugged on channel 1 not working anymore. when i trim it, it still can move, but i can't steer it. How should i solve this problem? Can i actually plug anything into channel 3?
Hi,I haven't used the 3rd channel, but it seems strange to me that 3rd channel would affect the 1st channel. Regarding its usability, you can plug a servo or use it as a switch, but you might need some other accessories to apply it. Search for some videos regarding it. I found some mentions about people using a modified firmware to enable more capabilities including 3rd channel capabilities: www.rccrawler.com/forum/electronics/376715-flysky-gt3b-servo-winch.html Hope it helps.
Hi, There are 2 things to understand. 1 - the remote controller has a unique ID. The binding process lets the receiver identify that ID number of the remote controller (make sure you buy the correct receiver model that can communicate with that remote control)- . This means that for every receiver you want to bind, the binding process is the same. 2 - Since you have multiple cars (each car with its corresponding receiver) you would probably want to customize the settings for each car. You do that by saving the settings in the remote control (see "Model Naming 0:43"). That way, after you bound both receivers, you simply switch to the corresponding model in the remote control whenever you want to control a car.
The remote control can store 10 models - for each model you can give a name and different settings. I think you can only bind to one receiver, so it doesn't matter which model you choose when binding. BUT, I did not check if each model can be bound to specific receiver. It would be great if you can explore that and share your findings.
If you turn off the receiver while the car is using throttle it will not to back to idle. It will stay fixed. So I need a kill switch for the receiver. On the transmitter it goes to idle
I'm having issues with the steering. To turn my RC left I have to turn the controller dial clockwise and to go right I have to turn the dial on the controller counterclockwise??🤔
Thanks, channel 2 and channel 3 are sets to failsafe, i want to keep channel 2 failsafe and channel 3 unfilesafe, do you know how to do this? thanks shlomi
Hi, according to the manual, failsafe works on the throttle channel (channel 2). I have no idea about the other channels. But, why do you want to cancel the fail-safe on a specific channel ?
4. Turn off the radio-controller. Settings have been reset for that model number. 5. Test it - turn the radio-controller on and see if values have been reset for that model number. I have tried that on my own radio-controller and it worked. Please let me know if this information helped you solve your problem.
I look forward to mine arriving now i have this video to set it up perfectly 🎉🎉🎉 thanks bud

Maybe it can be of help:

There is hole charger behind it, can we charge the battery with it?
The manual says you can, but I did not see any transformer specifications. I personally charge the batteries through a dedicated charger XTAR VC4. I believe dedicated chargers protect the battery overcharge better.
thank you... it helps alot
i have a little issue with my flysky when i pull trigger get notheng but when ki push it frorword i the motor runns
but have a boat
Great video...... I do have a question. Can the end points be adjusted on the 3rd channel?
Thanks.....

I have just checked it with the remote control and yes you can. I haven't tried to connect a servo to the receiver on the 3rd channel, but I don't think there should be a problem.

Please let me know when you connect a server to the 3rd channel how did it go.
got it, tks again, its working!!
Hi good video, helped a lot! But why is my car reversing when I want it to go forwards and forwards when I press reverse? Help!?
Hi ,You might have reversed it accidentally. Look at the video at 1:19 (talks about reverse)
hey, i have the exactly same receiver with yours.
I found some mentions about people using a modified firmware to enable more capabilities including 3rd channel capabilities:

Hope it helps.
So if I want to use this with multiple vehicles, I buy extra receivers and bind each one on separate channels?
Hi,
There are 2 things to understand.
10-4, thanks.
How do I know which model to change to when binding? Thanks
The remote control can store 10 models - for each model you can give a name and different settings. I think you can only bind to one receiver, so it doesn't matter which model you choose when binding. BUT, I did not check if each model can be bound to specific receiver. It would be great if you can explore that and share your findings.
My car has no brakes it does when I go in reverse then drive but when I hit the brakes when I'm going forward it goes in to reverse??
mine does the same thing
If you turn off the receiver while the car is using throttle it will not to back to idle. It will stay fixed. So I need a kill switch for the receiver. On the transmitter it goes to idle
Helo.. how to connect winch and setup winch
I'm having issues with the steering. To turn my RC left I have to turn the controller dial clockwise and to go right I have to turn the dial on the controller counterclockwise??🤔
Hi,
That is easy to handle. Watch the video - Reverse 1:19. You are welcome to look at the content. Each section directs you to the right time.
Thanks, channel 2 and channel 3 are sets to failsafe, i want to keep channel 2 failsafe and channel 3 unfilesafe, do you know how to do this? thanks shlomi
Hi,
according to the manual, failsafe works on the throttle channel (channel 2). I have no idea about the other channels. But, why do you want to cancel the fail-safe on a specific channel ?
4. Turn off the radio-controller. Settings have been reset for that model
number.
5. Test it - turn the radio-controller on and see if values have been reset for
that model number.
I have tried that on my own radio-controller and it worked. Please let me know if this information helped you solve your problem.
Thanks alot
I am sorry Jose, i still don't follow. What do you mean by "putting the model and name on the controller" ? Do you refer to the title of the video ?
