- Updated video about how to flash your Flysky GT3B, GT3C, GTX3 with the hacked custom firmware by PSX. A few things have changed since the last video I did a few years ago. I'll try to go over the common issues that pop up as well as show you how to calibrate it when done.

When doing this on Windows 10 make sure you get the latest version of ST tools. I downloaded and installed a previous version not knowing any better and it did not work. Also, reboot before running the STVP. You can program this with the batteries in and the controller turned on. This eliminates the annoying beeping caused by the low voltage alarm.

I am very late in the game. I have owned my GT3B since 2015. Put my RC stuff away since then. Since this COVID thing i brought the stuff out and was wondering around youtube about this transmitter and i ran into this Hack. Followed step by step and everything worked well. Your vid was very helpful and appreciate what your doing.
Hi my wires are red,brown,black and then white,please can you advise me which one goes to the tx board and the flash st link v2?
It looks like ST have changed the listings on their site. I can't find the "STVP-STM8" software. It only lists "ST-LINK/V2" and "STLINK-V3SET" now. Any idea what is the right way to go?

Update: I have done the hack to a GT3C using this video and the pin out for the GT3C in the description. Works great! Just have to follow it closely.
I still don't understand the purpose of this. I'm here to try & figure out 2 axle steering and winch functions.

tin your wires before you place them through the board. It keeps any strands from shorting to any other trace or solder point and it allows them to bond better to the solder points.
Error : Cannot communicate with the device !
Check the SWIM cable connection and check all the needed pin connections on the SWIM connector.
If the application code uses Swim Disable and Reset pin as Output or has disabled SWIM Clock Divider:
Try Now to SWITCH OFF and ON the application Power Supply while NRST Reset pin is forced low.
Error : < PROGRAM MEMORY reading failed.

Hi have you found away to hack this using windows 10 as I’m not sure how to run windows 7 on my pc any info would be great
Its been a while, but you dont need to use windows 7 for this. Just make the software run windows 7 compatibility mode and it works like normal! Just right click the shortcut/app, go to properties, click on the compatibility tab, under compatibility mode - check the box and change it to windows 7. It works great! (Works for windows 8 and up)
I'm not very good at this kind of stuff, Could I pay to have this done and send you my remote.
Why not just solder to top just make sure u do it right reset not obstructed just not labled. just tack em on top as there only temporary connections be easy to remove after u flash it
I followed to the letter, proper soldering. I get an error message that says cannot communicate with the tool,wrong tool selection or check tool power supply or check that a previous session is closed.
All wires correct, did this before turning on ST link.
I’m using the same programmer as you. Any ideas? I’ve used 10, 8,7,XP, same message, yes It does power up and beep lo voltage
EDITED UPDATE !!!
ISSUE was caused by using extension USB cable...the ST link wasn't seen, BUT powered the radio. went direct to the USB and all worked perfect! BIG THANKS!

i had a same problem here ..error message cannot communicate with the tool ..i've tried using direct usb but still the same ..any solution ??

Nice informative video thanks, I’ve just done the hack no problem on windows 10. However I wanted this for the extra subtrim which works fine but now my channel 3 doesn’t work how I want it to? Is there a way of getting it to work as it does when it comes out the box? Thanks!

Regarding the low voltage alarm, I can't set it higher than 10.5v for 3S batteries. Is this correct or have I missed something? Thanks

I have the Turnigy gtx3 with one original receiver and about 10 of the HobbyKing gt2b if I hack the firmware will it still buying and to my original receiver and the HobbyKing receiver or will I have to buy the fly sky receivers
Any idea how to wire up the pot swap on ch3 button? I've been looking for the information outside the few lines in the readme for 0.6.1 on how to wire it but I cannot find anything. Any help would be appreciated.
I know this is old but I found it and used it to flash my gt3b. So thanks. But also wanted to add that I got the could not communicate warning but was due to having r link and not ST link selected in tools. Just in case someone has that problem also check
I modded my gt3b yesterday, set up my model, played with it for oer an hour. No problems.
Tried it today and it powered on for about 10 secs then DIED. If I leave it sitting for a while, long while, it will power on again for about 10 seconds.
WTF? It worked great yesterday.. I set the voltage on calibration to 10v, because that's what my multimeter read.. I run 8 nimh's.
I set the low voltage to 8.8v.. I did mess with the LOCK feature where you have to hold down the enter button for a few seconds to get the butons to work, but once you hold the enter, it doesnt lock again unless you go into the firmware setting and set it to lock again.'

Hmm. Maybe try different batteries. Make sure nothing is shorting inside the gt3b when you soldered the wires. That's all I can think of. Something isn't right for sure.

Not a hacked firmware, Semerad states that he wrote the whole bit from scratch.
Will this also work with the FlySky FS-BS6 Receiver ?
Do you have any info on where to find a wiring diagram to connect extra inputs for each channel (like potentiometers, switches, etc)? Ive seen a few listing around for "customized gt3's" but no schematics or diagrams. I have the datasheet for the IC chips but dont know which pins to connect to.
Look up Dasmikro kits. They allow adding more switches to the gt3b if you have the psx firmware.

Hello! So after following the steps outilined in your GT3B Hack videos, I'm finally all done setting up my radio. My question is, do you know which 8 channel Flysky RX is compatible with this radio? I'm looking to use all 8 channels im my crawler. Thank you!
There are links in the description to some rx that are known to work with the gt3b.

Excellent info, thank you so much. I've just ordered two of these and already have the programmer for other stuff I've flashed. I think I'll try to solder pin headers onto each, so that I can just use jumper wires from the top side. Looks like it should fit in there with the buttons.

I hacked my gt3c which went great but messing around after I messed up my reverse. Forward works perfectly while reverse is jumping. No matter what position the throttle is it jumps. Any ideas on what I did so I can fix it in the controller.

Hi, I posted this on your other video but since this is an update, maybe I should post here instead. I installed the hacked firmware on my gt3c and it boots up fine when connected to the ST Link programmer but if I try connecting to the microUSB the screen flickers and the controller beeps. It's like it's in a reboot loop and I am not able to do anything in the menus as it cycles very quickly. Unfortunately, my battery is currently dead and I am waiting for a new one from China. Not sure if that has something to do with it but I was able to power the controller fine with a small usb battery bank and the micro USB port. Has anyone else seen this behavior? Also, the firmware seems to be flashed OK although my ST Link is now on the fritz and is not recognized by Windows ... otherwise I would try reflashing.
If you can power the gate via power bank than it seems to be an issue with the battery. Try to get another st programmer and reflash it. I haven't run into an issue like this but maybe the rcgroups or rccrawler forums will have someone who ran into the same problem.
@@KenVersus So I finally got the replacement battery from China. Plugged in the new battery and seems fine, even when connected to USB with battery installed.. If I take out the battery and plug in the USB, however, I get the flashing screen. I didn't have this with the stock firmware, it would run off USB without a battery installed. Regardless, seems to work with battery in so no issue.

What if you come to an issue where the remote will not turn back on? How can this be fixed?
Try flashing it again. If flashing was interrupted then it's toast.
Just curious if you or anyone you know has had a problem with the display freezing after hack sometimes it’ll work for a couple minutes then freeze if I shut it off it won’t turn back on for about a half hour after that it may stay on a couple minutes or only a couple seconds
Any help would be greatly appreciated beings it’s a new radio and can’t be used the way it is..... I have done multiple hacks with no issues but this one I can’t figure out.... do you have a file for the stock gt3b firmware I could get to try to reset it to factory mine didn’t save 😞
That's definitely strange. I don't have a copy of the original firmware anymore. If I find out more I'll reply with the info.

Just got a brand new fs gt3b ..my one is on the stock firmware.it freezes after sometime and then i can do nothing with the tx.it gets fixed when i restart the tx.any solution to prob?

Hey, buddy. I did everything as you said in the video. But in the end I came up with a mistake. And he wouldn't let me go on. and unplug the Acer transmitter you couldn't follow. And now he doesn't do anything. I did it with Windows 10. I can do master
Windows 10 always has issues. Try on win7.
@@KenVersus But the control doesn't turn on. Not with the batteries or anything. And I get an error mje in Windows that should terminate the session or something like that

I have a GT3C and most of the videos are for the 3B. How do I know where the wires are going to be soldered on the circuit board? I can't find any labels on mine. I appreciate any help

@@tihmgronemann7160 yes its the same firmware you just need to set your low power alarm as the gt3c uses a lower voltage.

Probably using Mac and VirtualBox and run windows 7 in the vm.
OK I have watched a few of this videos after ... never having watched one .... and I am cracking up for one reason - Why is everyone soldering with the wires put in from the bottom ??? - while that is the correction orientation for the pads, if you just pre-tin and flux a wire with a short exposed bit . .. you can just solder it with it inserted from the top. That way you don't have to remove the board at all ! So if you are new to soldering stuff like this that might not be the best idea but if you have some experience and some thinner wire ( remember PSX m0dchips ? ha ) it is an alternate way to do it. Thanks for the video update though ! Great explanation !
Thanks for this. I have a GT3C that I am going to be flashing in a week or so and this is very useful thus far. I will be sure to document things. Also, I notice on the GitHub, there is a 0.6.2 pre-release. Wondering if I should try it. Maybe I will dig in to it a bit more before I try it so I dont possibly brick a good controller.
I'd stick with 061. It's been out for years and we'll tested. I've loaded it onto a dozen gt3b over the years and never had a problem.

@@KenVersus thanks for answering. I'm going to see those forums. I upgraded to firmware 0.6.1 and the transmitter works fine but one of my servos savox jitter when I turn on the transmitter. Sorry for my English 😆
Probably not a firmware issue. Try another servo. Calibrate the transmitter.
@@KenVersus Finally I could solve the problem, I put a 2200uf 16v capacitor that works as a filter in the output of my ESC and the servo was perfect.
