    Thank you Ashfaq,I appreciate your work.I respect what you do,takes great skill/patience,most shops here in USA would just say you need a new motherboard it can't be fixed!

    Its not professional and risky. You should use wick tape to remove old solder and kapton tape for protecting everything around. To pull-up chip You shoulde use vacuum pencil. Its not expensive tools, but very usefull. Greetings from Poland.

      Yeah I have been working with repair company, most of it was motherboard for laptop, power supply and etc. But the way he remove very unprofessional, beside he should show to other the way we can identify the chip problem. One we could do to check was, if the chip was overheated. By touching it, since he already know what the problem then just put a word that he already identified 1st. If me was working with him, for sure I'll let's him know by using a blade isn't a proper way for it.

    Great Job Ashfaq... Tell them that this is actually how repairs are done 99% of the times in 90% of the repair shops around the world, Unless someone is ready to pay more than the phone price for the repair.
    Forget what is written in books, this is real life.

    No ESD protective mat or wrist strap on a synthetic table top material... sure way to create problems later on the line.

    • @Mtaalas
      @Mtaalas 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And you got _very_ lucky that you didn't damage the pads on the board with your methods. BGA components in that pitch are _very_ delicate and can be easily be bodged in a way that's not apparent before later when temperature changes create strains in the solder joints.
      They have to be almost perfect to be able to withstand stresses over time.

      The S3 is already outdated. As much as I would enjoy things done in a professional standard, the phone isn't going to be future proof for much longer. I'd give it probably 2 years tops from the date it was repaired, before it gets replaced and recycled.

  • @laszlohorvath3272

    It seems to me incredible that! The adhesive is much tougher than she looks here!It takes a lot of heat must be added to the panel to come down to the chip!This purification method is almost impossible not to come up with a soldering point either!

    Is there any procedure how to check, before replacing eMMC ,that it is really eMMC problem and CPU problem ?

  • @mikesradiorepair
    @mikesradiorepair 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Now there's a chip install bound to fail. No board preheating when removing and installing the new chip makes for a very poor soldering job. Especially on something that takes as much repeated shock as a cell phone.

      i was wondering myself

    • @iwantitpaintedblack
      @iwantitpaintedblack 10 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Incline Thomas you just have to get close enough alignment, when the solder balls under the chip get heated and they melt, they align themselves to the pads below automatically,kinda get sucked into position, because of some physical properties like viscosity, surface tension and chemical properties of solder

    • @du6waj757
      @du6waj757 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the solder when heated realigns the balls in its place its like surface tenshion

  • @gilbertdesmarais5718
    @gilbertdesmarais5718 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If the issue is overheated chip that unsoldered a few BGA pins rather than end of life due to numerous write cycles, then a reflow soldering with rosin for surface mount could be enough. Would not need to buy an eMMC chip in that case.

    • @gilbertdesmarais5718
      @gilbertdesmarais5718 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gilbert Desmarais If you know that you didn't write that much to your flash memory and you live in a very hot country, then reflow soldering with rosin might do the trick

    • @ImminentDingo
      @ImminentDingo 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Max Ripgsm He is saying the old EMMC maybe is not broken. It could just be that the solder connection got too hot and is loose. Then you can just reheat the solder with reflow soldering.

    • @patenteux
      @patenteux 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Phony English.

    • @patenteux
      @patenteux 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't even need to remove the chip for that. No reballing required. But you need to use rosin to avoid oxydation from air when reflowing.

    • @josephflorante4918
      @josephflorante4918 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +patenteux you cannot reflow the emmc chip because its sealed...you see he forced to remove the previous chip and then cleaned it and replaced..maybe a mild reheat can do..but reflow is impossible..

    • @TigerLeadFont5
      @TigerLeadFont5 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Blahblox Gyuanox There are markers on the chips to show orientation, part that, line it up as close as you can to the original.
      To the maker of the video... for gods sake get some kapton tape or use tin foil... you're re-flowing everything on the board!
      And don't move a board for 10 minutes after heating it... You'll only be re-balling it again in a few months.
