Thank you Ashfaq,I appreciate your work.I respect what you do,takes great skill/patience,most shops here in USA would just say you need a new motherboard it can't be fixed!
Its not professional and risky. You should use wick tape to remove old solder and kapton tape for protecting everything around. To pull-up chip You shoulde use vacuum pencil. Its not expensive tools, but very usefull. Greetings from Poland.
Yeah I have been working with repair company, most of it was motherboard for laptop, power supply and etc. But the way he remove very unprofessional, beside he should show to other the way we can identify the chip problem. One we could do to check was, if the chip was overheated. By touching it, since he already know what the problem then just put a word that he already identified 1st. If me was working with him, for sure I'll let's him know by using a blade isn't a proper way for it.
Great Job Ashfaq... Tell them that this is actually how repairs are done 99% of the times in 90% of the repair shops around the world, Unless someone is ready to pay more than the phone price for the repair. Forget what is written in books, this is real life.
And you got _very_ lucky that you didn't damage the pads on the board with your methods. BGA components in that pitch are _very_ delicate and can be easily be bodged in a way that's not apparent before later when temperature changes create strains in the solder joints. They have to be almost perfect to be able to withstand stresses over time.
The S3 is already outdated. As much as I would enjoy things done in a professional standard, the phone isn't going to be future proof for much longer. I'd give it probably 2 years tops from the date it was repaired, before it gets replaced and recycled.
It seems to me incredible that! The adhesive is much tougher than she looks here!It takes a lot of heat must be added to the panel to come down to the chip! This purification method is almost impossible not to come up with a soldering point either!
Now there's a chip install bound to fail. No board preheating when removing and installing the new chip makes for a very poor soldering job. Especially on something that takes as much repeated shock as a cell phone.
Hi, j want to know what kind of product do you use when you shoot over the EMMC please? Do you use liquid glue when you shoot over on the EMMC when you change it? or is it other product?? What product do you use above the contacts to clean???
dude you need to speak on the video tell us what you are doing so we can learn. watching you work is not learning. if you are going to teach do it right.
What are the tools you used to do this job?. Other then the solder and heat gun. What was the dark orange adhesive? Or flux? Please I need to learn thanks! Great video.
Where do you learn this stuff? You make it look very easy. I wish I could fix phones and car audio ampliers... tons of money to be made doing this. I've searched online and nothing specific to these repairs. Anyone?
Max Ripgsm when i was heating up the chip my infrared machine was also heating the complete circuit board so whatever chip heated up made the phone work again.
nice Thanks for the video but why are you downloading the pewter and put another new pewter then? How exactly to put pewter on all the area that was a little misunderstood Thanks
So what is a good hot air gun for this type of repair? Don't want to spend alot but don't want to get a very cheap one. And where can you get a good small board vice like the one in the vid?
Mamma mia! Mai visto un maniscalco così in gamba all'opera.... Complimenti vivissimi. translation: oh my! Never seen a farrier so good work .... Congratulations.
Incline Thomas you just have to get close enough alignment, when the solder balls under the chip get heated and they melt, they align themselves to the pads below automatically, kinda get sucked into position, because of some physical properties like viscosity, surface tension and chemical properties of solder
If the issue is overheated chip that unsoldered a few BGA pins rather than end of life due to numerous write cycles, then a reflow soldering with rosin for surface mount could be enough. Would not need to buy an eMMC chip in that case.
Gilbert Desmarais If you know that you didn't write that much to your flash memory and you live in a very hot country, then reflow soldering with rosin might do the trick
+Max Ripgsm He is saying the old EMMC maybe is not broken. It could just be that the solder connection got too hot and is loose. Then you can just reheat the solder with reflow soldering.
+patenteux you cannot reflow the emmc chip because its sealed...you see he forced to remove the previous chip and then cleaned it and replaced..maybe a mild reheat can do..but reflow is impossible..
It worked ,great job, to all the ignorant people leaving rude comments I like to see you attempt to do this.... Shit half of you probably don't even know how to change your cars oil which a 13 yr old can do it correctly 25 minutes easily. 2019 people need to be more creative and intuitive rather than always being a sheep victim to all the ignorant evil people out there. Kudos amazing video.
Blahblox Gyuanox There are markers on the chips to show orientation, part that, line it up as close as you can to the original. To the maker of the video... for gods sake get some kapton tape or use tin foil... you're re-flowing everything on the board! And don't move a board for 10 minutes after heating it... You'll only be re-balling it again in a few months.
John Doe so that means will work if only the sd card is attached, what about if after it has booted successful, well can i take off the sd card without crashing.
Ishark Amir No idiot. The card is used only to write the files the first time. Like a jumpstart or like installing OS to your computer. You need the installation files to be put on your harddrive and then you can use it as much as you want.
Nice work, wonder if it would be a chip that is affecting my L710 rear camera causing a "camera failed". I cannot find very much on rear facing camera "fixes" other than clear the cache or pull the battery and reboot. Camera itself has already been replaced but that did not fix the problem.
same problem here with my i535 camera failed keeps showing, its been confirmed that this is a hardware issue. let me know if you come a cross a solution.
sorry to bother you but can you provide the list of liquids that u use like solder flux, and isoprophilic alchool ? if so thanks, and nice job, i buy a rework machine and the emmc for note 2 and its my first time, hope everything goes weel. btw can you give some tips for the newbies ;) Thanks a lot
Thank you, but I thought FLUX is used only (be)for(e) soldering!? It looks like he's cleaning the circuit board with this clean fluid after(!) soldering. Hmm, are you sure?

how much is samsung core 2 price in poland?
yeah we are risk takers bro
good morning como se puede hacer ese proceso y que liquido se debe colocar debajo del chip y ensima del chip
Not very neat repair. Here for what remains of tin scraping blade and a spatula big minus.

Great fingers man, great knowledge, great patience.
Thanks for the tutorial. Please demonstrate while repairing. It may be very helpful for youtubers. Thanks again
7:21 motherboard out of view of the camera. Might have done some exchange...
but am not doubting the great skills that man got
It worked .. but for how long? No controlled reflow profile or anything, and that cleanup method looked like a great way to lift pads.

Is there any procedure how to check, before replacing eMMC ,that it is really eMMC problem and CPU problem ?

Never seen a farrier so good work ....
Congratulations.
And where you got EMMC OK?
I just love leaded solder over lead free - un leaded needs roasting temperatures..
You did that without solder paste? I salute you!
emmc memory is BGA which means each pad is prepared with a tiny ball of solder
Fantastic job ! But how you know the right position during resold?
How the hell did he align the chip?
Exactely my question, there are marks but is it really that sufficient ?...
There is 2 marks on the board just align the chip
i was wondering myself
Incline Thomas you just have to get close enough alignment, when the solder balls under the chip get heated and they melt, they align themselves to the pads below automatically, kinda get sucked into position, because of some physical properties like viscosity, surface tension and chemical properties of solder
the solder when heated realigns the balls in its place its like surface tenshion
If the issue is overheated chip that unsoldered a few BGA pins rather than end of life due to numerous write cycles, then a reflow soldering with rosin for surface mount could be enough. Would not need to buy an eMMC chip in that case.

Phony English.
You don't even need to remove the chip for that. No reballing required. But you need to use rosin to avoid oxydation from air when reflowing.
+patenteux you cannot reflow the emmc chip because its sealed...you see he forced to remove the previous chip and then cleaned it and replaced..maybe a mild reheat can do..but reflow is impossible..
how or where can I get or make the SD card that can check/reinstall the binary? please respond

brilliant. can you please specify the removal time heat temprature? and later did you reball the board right?
Usually reball the chip
how many degrees?
Just brilliant workmanship! Wow. 😊
nice video !
but when you put the new EMMC how did you know that the balls are in the correct place and not shifted ??
there is a marker on the corners;)
Hasan Erdim Ateslier This is cant be true,to small pads for hand operations !.Also you add flux on all surface without cleaning ?.
Blahblox Gyuanox There are markers on the chips to show orientation, part that, line it up as close as you can to the original.

Is there a video for fixing the power ic on the galaxy s4? Which tools are needed?
Its fake probably booted from sd card, because the whole video never took off the sd card.Emmc is still dead.
No. The SD card was so he could rewrite the bootloader to the emmc card.
John Doe
so that means will work if only the sd card is attached, what about if after it has booted successful, well can i take off the sd card without crashing.

No idiot. The card is used only to write the files the first time. Like a jumpstart or like installing OS to your computer. You need the installation files to be put on your harddrive and then you can use it as much as you want.
Lol yeah. Besides it said copy binary to eMMC. Which wouldn't write that unless boot was successfully copied to eMMC

what's this fluid at 6:53?
It's flux, you can search it in Wikipedia for the entire description! If you have something to ask, reply here!
Thank you, but I thought FLUX is used only (be)for(e) soldering!?
It looks like he's cleaning the circuit board with this clean fluid after(!) soldering. Hmm, are you sure?
meinsenf oh sorry, yes it is. Where I work we use this fluid
Isopropyl Alcohol is the cleaning fluid. Removes flux residue and other contaminants from the PCB that may cause rot over time.
Pali May, Thank you, sir! :) Also thanks for the side-information: I ve never seen a rotten PCB before (I googled this right now, OMG).
Hello what is the name of that machine you used to heat?
Where do I get such an eMMC? The interface is normed, so anything pin-compatible should work, right?
your phone is dead or hang on startup logo and tell me power suplly information
Sir ye kse howa memory card laga k apko kse pata laga k emmc ka masla h?

May I ask at the temperature and what is the air flow speed you use to remove this chip? @Ashfaq rehman
how did you align the chip? just by the two corners that are on the board?
thanx in advance :)
hello, I tried to change but I was wrong and I see that you have hands of gold to work with small parts with the naked eye or magnifying glass?
Sir I have a question that when we heat that chip the data stored in the memory can be deleted r not
