i have a power washer that locked up months ago, the pull rope refused to pull. I was thinking at first I was going to have to have the engine overhauled. but what I ended up doing was taking off the sparkplug, and trying to pull the starter, thinking maybe the motor was just hydrolocked. Still no go. Then squirted some WD-40 into the sparkplug hole, then undid the starter assembly which was held on by just 3 bolts. didn't have to take anything else off fortunately. once I got that off and determined the starter was ok, I used a 3/4 in socket to attempt to turn over the motor. Success. Put everything back together, and in 3 tries of the now free starter pull rope, it fired up. You could have heard me whoop and holler a mile away.

this weekend I pulled off the valve cover on my Honda motor for my pressure washer. Lots of oil came out. I pulled off the spark plug and the pullstarter, and noticed that the motor now turned over easily when turned with a wrench. Replaced the valve cover, drained the oil, replaced the oil with fresh 4 cycle oil. Then pulled off the carb, found that the insides were all gunked up with some kind of yellow gunk. Cleaned out the fuel bowl and float, sprayed WD40 on the movable parts. Put everything back together. after a few pulls, the motor caught and ran! Problem is now I found that the motor runs as long as the choke is in choke position, as soon as I put it into run, it quits. I checked the linkages and everything works correctly. I also tried running the pressure washer but it has no pressure. What besides replacing the pressure impeller could fix this?

I never run one with out water
I just pull pump and fix engine & install pump
Then connect water
