- Pull Cord Stuck on Your 2 Cycle Engine? Could be a number of issues. In this video I will walk you through the step-by-step process I took to diagnose and repair this problem.
If you own a weed trimmer, blower, hedge trimmer, snow blower, blower or other equipment with a 2 stroke engine you need to take care to use fuel with the proper 2 cycle oil mix, store your equipment in a dry location, run the fuel out of the gas tank and carburetor.
A stuck or froze piston is a bad thing to happen to your 2 cycle engine... but it may not be the end of your tool.
In this video I will show you why this pull cord got stuck, how to prevent it from happening and if it does happen... how to make the repair.

When You dumped the gas mix I figured it was motor oil in the mix
As soon as we could see in the motor I knew it was motor oil in the mix
I have seen that in many a 4 stroke with bad rings, Bad news with a 2 stroke 😒
Regular Motor oil will do it every time
Fantastic demo!! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge🙏💁
Glad it was helpful!
We need more videos like this , thank you Sr. Awesome job!
thanks for your feedback
I. Learned several things FYI sometimes I get away with bouncing the mower up and down pretty harshly to get float in stuck
You did a good thorough job on that leaf blower. Well done. Thank you for a great video.
Thanks for the visit
Bless you 1000x over & thank you on behalf of those of us who've never had anyone to teach us mechanics. Although I think I may need counseling after watching your video. I don't know if my system can take the shock of "wow that's how that works, hey I can fix this thing". Usually I come away feeling overwhelmed, unsure & the dread of "if I can't take apart, fix, put back together I'm going to have another piece of mechanical yard art". *Seriously, thanks.
Thanks for your visit and glad I could help!
You have the greatest video on TH-cam thank you 🙏
Watched your video yesterday, pulled my blower apart today. You were right on the money. A screw under the plastic fan (wheel) had popped up preventing full rotation. Video instructions were awesome, allowing me to take blower apart and put back together with little effort. Thanks again.
way to go!
Thanks for sharing the knowledge God gave you.
I like working with small engines, but I don't know how and I always start removing parts, and end up leaving it like that, that frustrated me a lot.
I feel capable of doing it but sadly I have no direction where to start and where to go.
Why didnt yoube didnt show this video earlier? Ive searched through so many vids, i should of tried your method first before replacing everything!
Very helpful video !
Thank you sir 😄👍
Very good video. Thank you for sharing 👍
Thank you too
I've got a Chinese clone of that, thanks for the carburetor adjustment plug tip.
And generally it was fun to watch.
God bless.
Thanks for the visit and God bless you also!
I watched your video and I like your presentation. I would like to know if you can solve my problem with my troy bilt tb20cs. I disassemble it completely and couldn't find anything wrong. When I assembled it a went to pull the pull cord, the started binding. So I removed the spark plug and the trimmer turns fine however , if I reinstall the plug, it starts to bind where the engine won't turn, Could you advise?
Hard to say without looking at it.
Is the engine completely frozen when you put the spark plug in or just real hard to pull? Do you have the correct spark plug in your string trimmer? If you put too long a plug in there your piston could hit the plug and not allow the engine to turn over.
When you pull the cord without the plug in does it pull real real easy or do you feel resistance?
Nice job LOL HAHAHA you put the old cylinder gasket back and there were some gasket remains stuck on the crankcase. Also you should never reuse the same piston pin circlips ! You play with the needle to adjust the carburetor but the engine is idling and this needle is to adjust the hi speed LOL
It ran like a charm didn't it! I'll watch your how to video next.
Excellent "Pull Cord Stuck" troubleshooting/repair video. Thank you!!! SUBSCRIBED!
Thanks for the sub!
Thank you!! This was very educational and helpful!!
Good to hear
I've got the same problem, I didn't mix it with oil and just used fuel. I should have mix fuel ⛽️ with 2 stroke engine oil at 40:1 ratio
You made it look very easy. I have a similar problem today with me new brush cutter, I am looking to send it back to company for replacement. After seeing your video, I think I can fix it. Thank you.
Had a similar issue. I put gas directly in the carburetor, and I was back in business.
Great job, I enjoy watching your videos. Thanks
Thank you
Great video and diagnostics. Gave me info for the future. Tks

Fantastic!
Way to go!
Saved the day. Went out to pump Maple sap at daybreak, small engine pump cylinder was stuck, got it freed.
Way to go
Do my echo blower does not turn when I remove spark plug it turns installed different plug but still stuck when I pull cord ?
When the plug is removed does your starter cord pull Super Easy or do you feel a little resistance?
If you feel some resistance with the plug out you may have a scored piston and cylinder wall. If that is the case...when you put the plug in it may make it very hard or non movable.
Thanks for your advice and suggestions nice work🇬🇺👩✈️🖐
No problem 👍
Yo bro I owe you I fix my blower off this video, everybody trying charge crazy prize.ty
Glad I could help
Awesome video with explanations. Cheers bud!
Glad it helped!
So when I remove spark plug it is easy to pull no resistance
If you ran the correct fuel mix in it and not straight gas… And the cylinder and cylinder wall are not scored… Do you have the proper spark plug installed? If the spark plug is too long it can’t hit the piston
I have the same problem. Bought the spark plug from a very trusted small engine shop. I’m thinking we compared it to the “OEM” china one.
Good video very helpful. Thank you very much.
