- I'm at Red Bull Hardline in Wales, the gnarliest and most insane MTB downhill race in the world. The riders are at the end of the UCI World Cup mountain bike calendar, which means that this is the final event of the year. And the course is absolutely crazy and so dangerous. I have brought my enduro bike because I don't have a downhill bike. So this is going to be a massive test for me, my bike and I'm super nervous about the road gap and the huge final jumps. Let's do this course walk and course preview.

There is a documentary about Red Bull and the deaths of several in a year. Its mostly the wingsuit divers who go for more risk then usual because of the money and the pressure of Red Bull. It is a hard and unforgiving Business and not the great fun what it seems to be. Red Bull tries to create their own perfect Adrenaline-driven World with no comments about the countless deaths so far... look it up, Red Bull sucks m8
@@saschaschmitt592 but nobody forces you to take part in extreme sports.
It takes a very special type of person to do this at a competitive level and these people would not want anything else.
They would probably die faster in an office job because of depression, than in their wingsuits.
I’m an amateur Mountainbiker who goes riding 3-5 times a week on trails and occasionally hit Dirtjumps.
That’s enough for me and I’m pretty happy with having my daily job as an engineer.
But these people would just feel caged with a schedule like this.
They can’t handle not having absolut freedom.
Of course I dreamed of being a pro Mountainbiker in the days of my youth but at the age of twenty or so I realized that I’m far better of doing it as a hobby instead of a main job.
I realized I don’t have the dedication to give it all, that these people definitely have!
I do not want all these injuries they suffer regularly (even I as a hobbyist had some crashes and not so nice injuries which I really don’t want to risk again) so I gave up that dream.
There are days at work where I wish that I could just leave and go into the forest on my bike, but who doesn’t want this from time to time.
So I think Red Bull is not the pushing factor behind these risks.
The pushing factor are the guys and girls themselves, that want to one up each other.
Red Bull is just there to give them the opportunity do to this for a living and earn so much money with it, that after 15 years of extreme sports, they are good for the rest of their lives.
No more working is needed, just the occasional marketing gigs etc.
So I’d say No! Red Bull is not pushing them to death, Red Bull is giving them the opportunity of their lives, to do what they love and get more money for it in a few years than most people make in a lifetime, working their regular jobs.

I don’t drink any energy drinks because I dislike the taste.
But I do like that they invest heavily in extreme sports which makes these sports progress the way the did over the last 20-30 years!
I won’t say they are saints or anything, of course they are just a normal company that lives from making profits.
But when profit comes with supporting the things I love, I can live with that - even without being one of their customers

I don't if I possessed more skills than all The Atherton's & Bernard Kerr combined. I just don't see myself ever having the (pardon my choice of word) balls to even sincerely consider sending that road gap. It's absolutely terrifying just seeing it on video which means I probably can't even come up with a word to justify how it must look in person.
