As you probably don't read Japanese, you probably didn't notice the "photography prohibited" (撮影禁止） sign posted in the left chapel next to the statue of Our Lady. We were just there in May and the photography prohibited sign is now also in English but a bus group of southeast Asian visitors chose to ignore it too and take sneaky photos. Seitaihoshikai (the name of the convent) is a poor Catholic nunnery that makes its money by selling pictures of the statue and other religious objects so I just hope people don't use their photos to make money themselves. For those that are interested, Rakuten Travel is a good place to find accommodation. However, unless you are familiar with Japan, I would stick to accommodation in Akita city as there is not much that would meet the needs of foreign visitors near the convent at Yuzawadai. We stayed at a hotel resort near Lake Tazawa and drove. The bukeyashiki in Kakunodate makes for a nice day too.
We were alone during our stay in the monastery. The nun who was there saw that we were taking pictures and making films. She didn't say anything. I want to mention that since the beginning of my TH-cam channel, I do not have monetization turned on and I do not earn anything. Thanks for the info, maybe someone will find it useful. Regards.
