I recently found your channel. I ran my first marathon in 2023, and it was also a long journey for me. I originally wanted to run a fall marathon in 2020, but we all know what happened to that plan. I actually did something even crazier than you -- I ran Toronto Waterfront in October 2023, and then CIM only 7 weeks later. I was so glad to be done with marathon training after CIM, and deliberately decided not to run a spring marathon this year. But I'm back at it training for Chicago now :)
i run ultra distance trails *alone.* for me running is a personal, meditative state. i understand challenging yourself to your limits but i cant understand comparing yourself to everyone else. focusing on times leads to problems like overtraining and eating disorders. my goals are always be safe, have fun, and finish the run. im not too concerned about the times altho i chart them afterwards for fun. if you really want to challenge yourself, running a 4hr marathon is ok, but try doing it alone on a muddy, snowy hiking trail with 5k feet elevation gain and multiple creek crossings in the dark during a storm with 10 degree F and 30 mile wind. the point is it doesnt matter what time you run, you either finish or you dont
Great story, thanks for sharing!
