While we can certainly run, we're not built to do a lot of running. Over time, the body will breakdown.. Distance runners typically suffer various spine, leg, and feet problems. To avoid this, it's better to cross train such that the body doesn't keep doing the same repetitive motion every day.
Endorphin highs are addicting. Beating personal best times is addicting. Freeing your mind is addicting. Feeling better is addicting. First we build our habits, then they build us. Every human with a relatively functioning body can get stronger and better through running. Period.
@hope full I was also shy and uncomfortable with showing myself running in public because of my body, so started running very early in the morning when noone else was awake... That also helped, just like fasting. Meditating is something that I still have on my list
Yeah, just a shame he said "he was glad the 30 days was over" as soon as he said that he was done :(.. He should have said "I made 30 days, feel great.. sometimes i have off days but you know what? in everything in my life has gotten better, i smile more and attract smiling faces back, i see other people running and i get hello`s back, i radiate happiness, there are so many positives, not only in my life but in other sports if i decide to take them up, why? Because i know my cardio is at peak form now and i won`t be some slob out of shape and out of breath, which would be a good reason i might give up on something new. I am also guessing in those clips those are the rocky steps? That in it`s self should be inspiration to keep going. As Stallone keeps saying "Keep punching" or in this case.. Keep running
I'll genuinely never forget my first runners high. I felt like i could run a marathon without being out of breath. I felt so happy and I couldn't stop smiling. I waved hi at random strangers, ran backwards, waved at random incoming cars. I was genuinely so happy to just exist. I don't think anything will ever come close to the happiness I felt from a runners high
I felt that so much. When I was running for the first few weeks I vomited, but after I got adjusted and now running is just the best part of my day. I feel so powerful, and at peace.
For beginner runners; most runners are just glad to see you out there doing it. People get so caught up in what others think of their pace when the majority are just happy that people are discovering the joys of running. So don’t worry about your pace. Don’t feel embarrassed if your slower than others. Just keep getting out there and doing it. Your body, mind, and soul will thank you. For the most part, the running community are some of the nicest people I have come across!
For real, though! When I’m on my runs, I’m watching runners pass and I’m thinking “You go dude!” and “Go get ‘em!” Maybe because it was because I was in cross country, or something xD, but man, I love when people are running because they’re helping themselves in the long term.
Most of the time when I am running I am not even thinking about other people. I’m more concerned about the bikers and them passing (I run with my RayCons turned way up) without me getting hit. So I am constantly checking my shoulders which makes me look like I am checking on where the person is behind me. Be selfish when you run and don’t care what people think because most of the time they are excited to see you out there or are more focused on their own run to be concerned with you! Running has been the best thing for me and helps me enjoy the summers more!
Not all of them. This guy I used to see every morning running hated my guts. Probably because I was faster and younger. He always had this look on his face of envy.
It's not other runners who criticize me for running slowly. Ironically, it's strangers loitering about on the street. Maybe it's because I'm thin and young so they "expect" me to be a better runner, but lots of people have no fun making fun of my speed for some reason. It's so annoying and frustrating because it usually just stuns me into silence and then all the time alone with my thoughts during my run really lets it get to me!
I was 120 kgs in 2020. I started running and I used to feel dead for running only 200 meters but I didn’t give up I ran I ran I kept running and after two years now my weight is 74. Today I run 10kms without stopping and I recently finished my first 10km marathon in 56 minutes. I NEVER THOUGHT I COULD DO SOMETHING WHICH SEEMED IMPOSSIBLE BUT I DID IT. The key is consistency and discipline, you’ll never know what your body can do unless until you start pushing yourse
I used to run 10km everyday cuz it was a battle between me and myself taking only sundays off. These days I’m unable to run like before due to work but I still try to get 10km twice in a week and do strength training at home
I’m 4 weeks into running. I used to be a runner in my mid 20s and I felt so great! Post 2 kids and major weight gain has made it hard! Everything hurts and breathing is hard but I won’t quit! Thank you for this video. Let’s do this!
Good luck! My name is des too! & I’ve had two boys back to back I’m 28 and just stated I think today will be about a week of running , and I’m happier and love the feeling. !
Running in the morning makes you ready for whatever is coming next throughout the day and doing it daily provides a little sense of achievement. When you're having a shitty day but you know you still had that run in your bag already, and then the day seems not so bad. So kudos to all the runners!!
When I started running I was in my late 30s, could hardly run to the end of the street. Felt like i was going to be sick every run, heart was pounding, gasping for air and I was literally only jog walking.. I smoked, drank way too much alcohol, other vices too and my diet was terrible. I was absolutely determined to get fit enough to just run once around the block without stopping, then once around 2 blocks, then my whole neighbourhood, then my whole town.. Its been around 6 or 7 years since that first run and now I run 25km almost every single day and it's easy.. If you want to get fit never give up, it's absolutely horrid for the first few months but gradually your body will adapt and it will become normal and very very enjoyable. I gave up all my bad habits due to running, I took up some hobbies I probably wouldnt have without running.. Realistically running changed my life completely for the better, it's now the thing I love most and every day i cannot wait to get out and run
@el SM I prefer morning running, but evenings are nice too. Just be mindful of what you eat and how much energy you have, you might be worn out by evening. Regarding embarrassment, maybe try wearing a hoodie or put in ear buds and distract yourself so you're not self conscious. It will get better as you run more, as well.
@el SM Hey, when i started running I was so unfit and self conscious I would only run in the dark, and wearing jogging bottoms and a hoodie. Once I was able to run around the block (maybe about a mile and a half) I started wearing a T shirt and then shorts and now its pretty much running vest and running shorts.. Whatever you do don't give up, your fitness will definitely come and so will your confidence. As far as running in the evening, I personally prefer evening runs although on a Saturday and Sunday I usually do a morning one but whatever suits you is fine. If you are going to run in the evening try to give yourself around 3 hours since your last food or drink otherwise you will possible get a stitch.. Other than that just go for it and if you don't give up you will start noticing fitness gains pretty quickly although be prepared for the first couple or more months to be horrible. Just remembered another thing, you don't have to run fast to get fit, so slow and steady, try not to run as fast as you can all the time cos thats a sure way to get injured
I am 28. Low libido. Equal to No sexual desire & i am near to obesity with 29 BMI. Obese person have BMI of 30 ! I want to know whether running improves erectile functions or libido? I am waiting for your reply
My first run was brought on by an anxiety attack. It stopped the attack so I kept going. Then other runner's would wave or high five me and other's. I would say, I'm not a real runner. Then guy said yes you are stop saying that to yourself. Right before covid I broke my left ankle and couldn't run and still haven't run in a year. I start again this week. Thought I'd share my story for no reason. Congrats to you!
I recently kept waking up with high anxiety that just would not stop. The last two days I started running and it's been a lot better. It's so crazy how just working out changes your brain.
Maybe that's his "normal" body physique/type when in a sedentary state, I guess that's what he meant. He looks good but gets tired easily, doesn't have a lot of flexibility, can't run a lot, etc. When I didn't do exercises my body was at it's worse but looked fine, so I guess he meant that with "worst".
We have become so fat and out of shape as a society that an "average body" becomes extraordinary. He's only 26 years old...his look should be the norm not the exception.
I live in Philadelphia too and started during the pandemic to come out of depression. Nothing can ever beat the runners high to take you out of the ditch. I could relate so much with your story!
Started running recently. It’s incredible how much it improves my mood fora few hours after or the rest of the day. No other exercise seems to do it as much.
@@Invictus4318 I know! But he looked very well build and fit. I think he meant endurance, which is def different from having strong and visible biceps.
Cardiovascular fitness feels so much harder than building muscle, I think. Maybe that’s why most people hate cardio 😂 I do cardio three days a week now so I can go on walks without damn near passing out anymore lol
Great video, I started running 8 years ago at age 33. Couldn’t run for more than 30 seconds at the start without stopping and feeling like I was having a heart attack! Ive now run 5 Marathons and multiple half marathons. Running is the best thing I’ve ever started for myself.
For anyone starting out running, don’t worry about time. Find and choose a distance you know you can do (I recommend at least 2 miles ) 5-7 days a week. Run as much of it as you can and walk the rest. When I first started running I tried killing myself to beat times and distance but realized I was only fatiguing my body more than what it was ready for and would skip days. So just stay consistent and remember, train don’t strain
You people have such good locations to run mannnn... Such clean and well planned cities! Like half of the energy is boosted just by seeing the morning atmosphere and scenic views!!
I live in the country, just cows, farmers and beautiful crop fields. If I go more than 3 miles I even pass a sunflower field this time of year. I quit using my headphones because it was relaxing.
This is so motivating. I started running at age 40. I remember the excitement of getting more endurance, running 15 min without stopping to being able to run 2 hours nonstop. Running 2 miles to being able to run 13 miles nonstop. I ran consistently for 8 years, 4-5 days/ week, then menopause slowed me down and had to deal with other health issues relating to aging. I enjoy going for walks but I am still curious to see if I can build endurance back now at age 51, maybe I won’t be fast or run long distance but I miss the “runner’s high”, I want to feel it again. I can’t wait to recover from Covid and go out for a walk. Thank for this great video.
i'm really happy i stumbled across this. i am a track athlete, and i'm so happy to see another person get into it! and especially in the RIGHT way. so many people i see go hard all day every day but you learned to take it easy and build a base. running is not fun generally, but when youre in shape, it feels like you own the world when you run :)
**cking inspiring stuff!! I’ve been an avid runner for about 9 years now (I’m 35), it changed my life and how I look at self discipline.. consistency is key, but like you mentioned, you don’t have to kill your self during your runs.. you’re competing against yourself.. often times, the unecessary pressure we place on ourselves is exactly what holds us back from accomplishing our goals! Stay up, runners!!
I’ve really appreciated this video! I started running regularly (avid powerlifter) and two weeks ago, and yesterday was my first breakthrough day. I finished the run and just felt amazing with the progress in my mindset, as well as my time and level of exhaustion. Until this point I was feeling very negative towards the process and self-conscious about myself, but something changed on that five mile trek that I can’t completely put into words.
As someone who has been running for years, my life is still sometimes a mess and I feel really depressed often. But despite haven given up on everything, my goals, dreams, and others, I am not able to give up running. And after all these years, I still find myself learning so much more consistently in regards to running, having many "aha!" moments. Running is great.
Great job brother!!! That’s exactly how I started, “slow and steady wins the race” my drill sergeant used to say. I was the worst runner in basic training because that was literally the first time I ran in my life. I went from completing 2 miles in 26 minutes, to running a 5k in 16 minutes because I did what you did, I applied discipline and embraced the suck, now, I run 5:32 minute miles, have ran several half marathons and am currently training for a iron man in September. Stick with it, I’d love to continue to see your progress!!!
Today is my Day 31, and I just found your video. I can say that my experience has been very much the same. I remember getting out of high school and being glad I "wouldn't have to" practice and run for sports anymore, but I'm now 31 y/o and I'm excited about running and having a blast so far. Seeing progress is amazing. I will add that for 18 months before I started running, I did absolutely nothing. I sat at a computer. I experienced muscle atrophy and felt like I'd been living on the ISS.
Running is a sport for your inner self. I have been running for almost 10 years and it help me a lot battle my insecurities, stress and keep my mental health good
There’s something so endearing and genuine about your enthusiasm. I set a humble goal of 365 miles in 365 days and seeing this video is making me way to pump up those rookie numbers!
When you told the story about having butterflies spreading all over your body that it made you raise your hands in the air without even noticing it yesssss that’s definitely one of the best feelings
I'm not sure if you hear this often (not only the author of this video, but every single one of you that tried this - if you did), but I am fricking proud of you. Running is the thing that built me the most. The sad part is you don't realize how important it is and what power it has until you try it. :( This is why most of people don't have this blessing in their life even if we are trying to get them moving all the time.
Very inspiring video ! I started running as a 53 year old during the pandemic. Used to play soccer from young age to late 30's but always hated running. But I needed to get in way better shape and what is cheaper and easier than just putting on some old shoes and go at it ? It is awesome ! I will obviously never set any records, but when I set my own I feel like a world champion. I knew I would be in better physical shape when running but the miracles it does for the mind can simply not be overrated ! You will feel better, smile more, work better, better patience, more creative. I am not even kidding ! START TODAY !
Inspiring! I started running 3 times per week 2 weeks ago, it felt like i was gonna die. Last run I ran for 25minutes at 6:50 per km, today I ran 65min at this pace, I never thought I could do it, it inspires me so much!
To all the comments about his biceps and chest etc: Being fit & looking fit are two completely different things. I know people who look great in the gym but can’t run a mile around the block without gasping for air.
I felt that when you said you ran for the first time, I remember I could only do 15s then a week later I could do 1-2 minutes then a month later 5-8 minutes and just last month I actually blew by my 5-8 minutes into a full 15 minute run, it also helps that running is my favorite activity.
Started running during summer 2020. Could barely do a quarter mile. Kept with it and now doing 15 to 20 miles a week. Still getting hurt here and there being 39 years old but in the best shape of my life.
Started running in May 2020 when gyms closed due to Covid. Fell in love with it and haven't looked back since. What a difference a progress makes. Keep going.
i never really enjoyed running, I've tried it a couple of times but I've never been consistent. This was SO inspiring and I'm going to try and run now.
I never used to exercise or run. But then I just started, the best advice that I have been given is to start slow. You don't want to be so sore that you can't run the next day. Within a week, your body won't be sore and you can run as much as you want to. The key is consistency.
Smiled so hard when you started talking about the runner’s high! I probably look like a psycho, too 😂 saw someone in the zone yesterday when I was out for a walk and it made me so happy!
I loved watching this - I've had a similar introduction to running and am now at the point where I crave it and it's quite hard to resist the temptation to overdo it!
Very inspiring story Zach! Thanks for sharing! I started running in my mid 40s pretty late, but it's ok, never too late to start something new. My first run I could not run 120 seconds... without stopping. Not even two freaking minutes, that was my starting point. Also I got this notion in my head my entire life that I am not a runner. It's just not who I am. No idea where this came from, just making excuses I guess. Sticking with it is the trick, especially at the beginning. My progress was a lot slower then yours, but after 6 months I did a 5K. Now I am running 5K and 10K trails runs in national parks and film them for youtube, I look forward to every run I film or just do for myself. Great way to just clear out your mind too. Cheers and keep on running!
Looking at the shape he was in at the start, I don't believe he was as unfit or out of shape as he claimed - the guy's chest, shoulders and arms have definitely seen a gym. The guy was running over five miles within a few days - he wasn't in bad condition.
There's a difference though. While he wasn't fat/overweiight, you've gotta understand that weight training (anaerobic exercise) doesn't make you better at aerobic exercise.
@@KENTOSI very true but I think he was running 5+ miles after just a few runs. That's way above what I'd expect a total non-runner to be able to achieve. I just feel this has been overstated for the sake of being able to make some content.
@@54321djg Yeah I can't argue there that's a valid point. If youtube is his primary source of income then he would likely embellish the truth to get more likes. And I can't fault him for it.
Been running for 4 days now after seeing your video. Its really difficult for me. I'm running at a slow pace but still feel out of breath. I'll keep updated!
Don’t be afraid to go slow. I could never go over a mile because I ran at a pace that was too fast for my fitness level. My breakthrough was learning to start really slow and pick up the pace when it feels right. I’m still a beginner but making progress.
Had to laugh at you saying people said not to run in the rain, where I live if I didn't run in the rain I'd never run hahah! Also YES, Coach Bennett is an absolute legend! This is such a good video, super motivating!
I'm in high school and last summer I scarcely went out the park and was not active at all. I thought I had to make some changes so I decided to join cross country, the season of which started before the school year did. My experience was similar to his where it was hell for the first few weeks, but as my body became acclimated to it and I got stronger, I felt amazing. The season just ended and my first 2 mile was a 17:35, now my PR for 2 mile is 14:47. I'm really proud of my progress and I can't wait to run for many years to come!
@@ZachHighley, I too have trouble with letting people know of what I'm doing if I didn't get to a desired level and I might know where you're coming from with that comment, so my advice to you is: don't let that pride get you, man. Nobody does anything perfect from the beginning. Letting others see the process of getting somewhere is being real and it shows courage worthy of appreciation. I do believe that building humbleness like that is crucial for one's own development. I mean no bad intent and I hope you receive this comment well and give it a thought.
I loved how he changed his goals half way through because he realized he could make it more adaptable to his life. Huge plus is making a life style change and not a “video”for TH-cam!
You don’t need to run long distance. Marathon runners end up putting to much stress in their heart and end up with an enlarged heart. I walk three miles and I feel good. I injured my right knee a few months ago and just yesterday I went for a run. I ran only 1 mile. It felt awesome!!!!!!! You’ve motivated me to wake up at 5am and start running in the morning. Thank you!!!!
I have been doing 75 hard and started to try running and trail running and i started to enjoy it too! I can’t believe it. Glad I found this video. You’re so inspiring!!!
the one thing that kept me going throughout this year of lockdown running is that I never want to feel like I'm dying by just trying to move my body faster than usual, meaning, if I can't even run for the bus, I've failed my body.
I hope you're still keeping it up man! If you see this(which I doubt you or anyone else will) I would recommend running with someone. It helps you push each other and for whatever reason when you talk you can actually breathe easier.
Miles are miles! Your body has to adjust to running, specifically. Your bones and ligaments and muscles and brain and lungs will benefit from walking and running alike. Eventually you can hit that 3 consecutive mile mark, and I promise it happens a lot sooner than you’d think! Run long, run slow, and you’ll find that running can be a really peaceful and meditative experience.
I was this way and could literally not hit a mile. Within a month of consistent running I’m at 3 miles and could probably do more but I’m scared lol It’s crazy, I never thought I could do it 🥺
well a lot of people that work out cannot run! That’s because they’re afraid that running will eat their gains. Don’t be afraid to run here and there, running and working out are two different things.
After countless of these kinds of videos ("running changed my life") over the entirety of quarantine, I'm ready to just take control and get up and do it. I've been doing CrossFit, Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai -- running will help me in all of these other physical activities I love doing. To you, and all the other people I've watched, thanks for the continuous motivation. :)
This was so inspiring! I just started running on Monday and I can totally relate to you. My legs are hurting, especially my calf muscles. But I want to keep it up, I’m having so much fun running - surprisingly 😁 I agree the Nike Run Club app is awesome. Listening to Coach Bennett is so motivating. Keep it up!
I'm just guna say, you clearly were not as unfit as you made it out at the beginning if in less than a month you were running 4 miles under a 9 minute pace.. That isnt like, race winning. But it's clearly well above the average couchto5k user
Man I stopped running to put on as much muscle as possible and now that I have done that I can’t wait to get back into it!!! Takes me to another zone and really takes your whole mental/physical 🤟🏼❤️
Well done you! Once you get started, the hardest part is literally not overdoing it. The first day we were allowed outdoor exercise out of complete lockdown I started a streak that would last me 206 days (and ended in a half marathon PR!) , but even after being a runner for almost a decade, I had to back down after a couple of months because I'd done too much. You did a good job navigating your efforts, not hurting yourself or getting bored with it. Honestly, the sucky runs are the contrast to the highs that we NEED! Running can be truly life-changing, glad you got a taste for it. Ps. Running in the rain is THE BEST! That's when I am almost guaranteed a high!
I injured my back a few years ago, and I used to run all the time and I learnt how to induce a runner's high at the beginning of a run. I now haven't been able to run for years but I absolutely love watching these kinds of videos especially the 360˚ videos, its the closes I've gotten to running since I had my injury. Man, these videos just rock and make me really nostalgic 🥺 Love it!!
It's really nice to see someone articulate what I have felt having started to consistently run for the past few months. I used to run because it was a requirement for the job. Now I run because it makes me better.
I ran a lot and was on the Track team in HS but barely ran after the 1st semester of college. This reminded me of joy of running, and motivated me to start again, today. Thank you 😊
I started running for 30 days at the end of December. I’m 52 and haven’t run properly for years. I found your post and half way through I realised I was smiling. Huge smile on my face because you’re describing exactly how it’s been for me. I’m loving it again and watching videos like this inspires me and makes me feel like I’m in a big club. I won’t stop after 30 days either x😊
I watched this last June, and it really inspired me. Now, I've started running and walking every day, and the results have been absolutely amazing! ty zach!
I've only seen two minutes of the video and I'm already motivated to try this. I've had been playing basketball for fifteen years and I quit when I was at my third year of university. Now I've been without doing sports for about two years and I feel really bad with my body. I'll definitely start to run this spring.
Whenever I find myself in a running rut, videos like this remind why I started to begin with. I've met the most amazing people through running. It's a great community and a great outlet. Thanks for sharing your journey!!
I don’t think he’s sponsored by them, I use the app too, it’s really great. The shoes he got weren’t even Nike I think so I doubt he’s trying to push their products.
@@MorganBF1 were they? Sorry idk then. But I doubt Nike would sponsor a single TH-camr like this, but it’s possible. Regardless, the app he used in this vid is so good lol so to me it doesn’t really matter what brand of clothing he’s wearing. I didn’t feel like he was pushing anything or any brand on me.
When I get the "high" I end up being like a manic pixie girl, blasting my music, and dancing (badly) around the house to get things done (dishes, laundry) until I'm gassed out and hit the shower. It is the most amazing feeling. I wish I could bottle it.
this motivated me to start jogging again and I'm making it to 30 days on in two days. I've never stuck to working out consistently before and this changed things so thank you! I'm still only at 4km but I've never been more proud!
The last part resonated with me - it’s true, the journey often sucks and I feel it every time during the run that it’s sucking big time. But after wards, it just feels so good that you were able to push through, even if you had to slow down, you finished it. And that’s something you can take to almost every other initiative in life
I started running in the beginning of 2020 when online school started and first i did 2-5km runs few times a week. It really sucked in the beginning but after that i just felt more healthy and overall better so i kept going. In 2020 autumn i stopped for a while but started really again in the end of year and i have been going for about 2 to 3 runs in a week which are usually 7km and the feeling after them is just so good that i think this will be something i will be doing for a long time. It's just incredible what the human body is cabable of and how you can get better if you just show up constantly and keep trying your best. Thaks for the great video!
This was such a fun video!! I initially subbed for your anki vids (starting med school next year/send help), but I've been a runner since middle school and it's so enjoyable to see others get to experience distance running. I've been running for so long that it's really easy for me to take it for granted and get lazy/annoyed with my runs, but this was a great reminder for me how it's such a gift to be able to get out on the roads and test the limits of your body & mind. Keep up the great work! (and good call on the Brook's) :)
I think it's the best exercise that doesn't cost a lot of money and you can take it for a lifetime. a much healthier life with more breath to do everything.

I have never gotten a runners high. I ran track in HS (the mile), ran competitive 5k's, and used to do tri's. Never got one.
@@dcamnc1my advice would be to just run at a nice easy pace that is not too difficult. You’ll get it.
I feel joy when I see people walking and those who are running I want to cheer them on. So yeah very true!
I’m 72, run 5 km every day, never time myself, don’t listen to music, very happy. Encourage you to for health, not statistic.
You've really inspired me to run, thank you!
Yes.
You're awesome
You are my inspiration
Do you heel strike ?
I was 120 kgs in 2020. I started running and I used to feel dead for running only 200 meters but I didn’t give up I ran I ran I kept running and after two years now my weight is 74. Today I run 10kms without stopping and I recently finished my first 10km marathon in 56 minutes. I NEVER THOUGHT I COULD DO SOMETHING WHICH SEEMED IMPOSSIBLE BUT I DID IT. The key is consistency and discipline, you’ll never know what your body can do unless until you start pushing yourse
That is amazing

How often do you run in a week? Thanks
I used to run 10km everyday cuz it was a battle between me and myself taking only sundays off. These days I’m unable to run like before due to work but I still try to get 10km twice in a week and do strength training at home
This was the last straw. I’m gonna start running tomorrow

Ok, feeling good already?😅
How's running going thus far Paul?
I’m 4 weeks into running. I used to be a runner in my mid 20s and I felt so great! Post 2 kids and major weight gain has made it hard! Everything hurts and breathing is hard but I won’t quit! Thank you for this video. Let’s do this!
How's it going bro? Any progress?
I recommend stretching and doing some workouts before running. I use Robert's gym
Your story is basically the same as mine! 4 years for me. Congrats man, cheers to losing those bad habits and changing your life.
@el SM Keep it up and you will get there. Slow and steady and never giving up is the key :)

"I haven't exercised and my physique was at an all time low" meanwhile he puts his arms up and veins are sticking out and he had good biceps.
Yes exactly
Noticed that tooooo!
Maybe that's his "normal" body physique/type when in a sedentary state, I guess that's what he meant.
He looks good but gets tired easily, doesn't have a lot of flexibility, can't run a lot, etc.
When I didn't do exercises my body was at it's worse but looked fine, so I guess he meant that with "worst".
you can be in good shape and have terrible cardio.
Okay but this is a cinematic masterpiece
Thank you so much!

Haha exactly,i was searching for the comment that who else noticed🤝😁
Being fit and looking fit are two completely different things.
@@Invictus4318 I know! But he looked very well build and fit. I think he meant endurance, which is def different from having strong and visible biceps.
@@snikovsky Good point!

Good stuff bro!
no u
Great job brother!!! That’s exactly how I started, “slow and steady wins the race” my drill sergeant used to say. I was the worst runner in basic training because that was literally the first time I ran in my life. I went from completing 2 miles in 26 minutes, to running a 5k in 16 minutes because I did what you did, I applied discipline and embraced the suck, now, I run 5:32 minute miles, have ran several half marathons and am currently training for a iron man in September. Stick with it, I’d love to continue to see your progress!!!
5 MILES IN 16 MIN??!!!
Damn bro that's insane!!
Keep up the great work!
I think he meant 5km in 16minutes, it’s 3 miles, but still congrats!!!🎉🎉🎉
Today is my Day 31, and I just found your video. I can say that my experience has been very much the same. I remember getting out of high school and being glad I "wouldn't have to" practice and run for sports anymore, but I'm now 31 y/o and I'm excited about running and having a blast so far. Seeing progress is amazing. I will add that for 18 months before I started running, I did absolutely nothing. I sat at a computer. I experienced muscle atrophy and felt like I'd been living on the ISS.
You helped me start my running journey 6 months ago and now I can't imagine my life without it! Thank you!!!
Running is a sport for your inner self. I have been running for almost 10 years and it help me a lot battle my insecurities, stress and keep my mental health good
Amazing. Please tell me more about that

There’s something so endearing and genuine about your enthusiasm. I set a humble goal of 365 miles in 365 days and seeing this video is making me way to pump up those rookie numbers!
How’s your goal going?
How you doing?
Do you sometimes do two or three miles or just the one mile each day?
How did you do?
When you told the story about having butterflies spreading all over your body that it made you raise your hands in the air without even noticing it yesssss that’s definitely one of the best feelings
I'm not sure if you hear this often (not only the author of this video, but every single one of you that tried this - if you did), but I am fricking proud of you.
Running is the thing that built me the most. The sad part is you don't realize how important it is and what power it has until you try it. :(
This is why most of people don't have this blessing in their life even if we are trying to get them moving all the time.

Keep going.

Have you started running?
@@artursarajs723 not yet

Wow. This was so, so, motivating. I wanna push myself to do this too, at my own pace. Thank you for this and I can't wait for more!
I'm sure you will do great, see you on the starting line

You don’t need to run long distance. Marathon runners end up putting to much stress in their heart and end up with an enlarged heart. I walk three miles and I feel good. the one thing that kept me going throughout this year of lockdown running is that I never want to feel like I'm dying by just trying to move my body faster than usual, meaning, if I can't even run for the bus, I've failed my body.
I hope you're still keeping it up man! If you see this(which I doubt you or anyone else will) I would recommend running with someone. It helps you push each other and for whatever reason when you talk you can actually breathe easier.

“I’m so out of shape” *runs 3 miles in the first 10 days* lol I workout almost every day and can still barely run a mile
Running and working out are 2 VERY different things
@Nandin I can run 4+ miles running
Im getting into running also! I ran a full mile without stopping in 9 minutes after not running one for years lol
After countless of these kinds of videos ("running changed my life") over the entirety of quarantine, I'm ready to just take control and get up and do it. I've been doing CrossFit, Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai -- running will help me in all of these other physical activities I love doing. I agree the Nike Run Club app is awesome.
I can‘t think about a life without running.. I think it‘s the best thing you can do and yeah the runners high, it is an awesome feeling!!

this motivated me to start jogging again and I'm making it to 30 days on in two days. I've never stuck to working out consistently before and this changed things so thank you! I'm still only at 4km but I've never been more proud!
update?
The last part resonated with me - it’s true, the journey often sucks and I feel it every time during the run that it’s sucking big time. But after wards, it just feels so good that you were able to push through, even if you had to slow down, you finished it. And that’s something you can take to almost every other initiative in life
I love every word in this video!!
Had the same experience and the level of my understanding 😭😭
So proud that there are people like you
The content is great. Definitely feel like this channel will take off.
Appreciate it!
This is one of the most inspiring videos I've seen... started running this morning and this video motivated me to keep going!!
I hope this guy watches David Goggins, it would give him so much motivation.
Stay hard
The view of you sitting on that bench looks amazing!
I'm sure you are going to do great in med school!
Last two sentences are great things to keep in mind, I love it.
I think it's the best exercise that doesn't cost a lot of money and you can take it for a lifetime. a much healthier life with more breath to do everything.
just yourself and a shoes not like cycling pricey but I have a roadbike but for me running is the best!
This video has honestly kept me accountable as I go through a pedometer challenge my friend suggested I take part in. You're an inspiration, Zach!
This isn’t inspiring.
This guy was already athletic from the beginning.
2 miles in 10 minutes is really good for the average American.
This is what inspiration looks like! Thank you for documenting your journey!! I so relate!
