Four tankers and transports take to the skies over Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. The KC-135R Stratotanker from the 108th Wing, New Jersey Air National Guard, took to the skies first and took off from Runway 6. The KC-10 Extender, KC-46A Pegasus, and C-17 Globemaster, all operated by the 305th Air Mobility Wing, took off from Runway 24. Returning to show center, the C-17 linked up with the KC-10 for a simulated air refueling pass with the KC-46 in trail and the KC-135 a couple minutes behind. The KC-135 landed while the C-17, KC-46, and KC-10 made another pass down the show line before landing on Runway 24.
The 2023 JBMDL "Power in the Pines" Air Show is the last time the public will get to see the McGuire-based KC-10 Extender in flight and on static display, as the last two aircraft will have left the base by the end of June 2023. It was rather symbolic seeing the KC-10 leading the flight with the C-17 in the pre-contact position and the KC-46 not too far behind as the KC-46 is replacing the KC-10 at McGuire. One of the two remaining McGuire-tailed KC-10s was on static display with a second KC-10 on display, coming from Travis AFB, which will convert to the KC-46 in 2024 and close the chapter on the KC-10's service with the United States Air Force.

Howdy passed away suddenly on March 9, 2023, and his voice and contributions to the airshow industry should never be forgotten.

Therefore, the USAF requires any U.S. air show, civilian or military, hosting an Air Force aircraft performance which includes music secure the necessary music licenses for broadcast of pre-recorded copyrighted music over public address systems. For the 2023 airshow season, the International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) has negotiated a deal that will allow issuance of music licenses for ICAS member air shows for all three US music licensing organizations: ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC. Each ICAS member air show is eligible for a single package of the three music licenses for one air show at the cost of $875. The rate applies only to music broadcast over the public address system during the air show portion of the program and does not provide the show with the right to use prerecorded music at concerts or other non-air show special events held in conjunction with the air show.

Been to many an airshow at McGuire, starting way back in the 80's. Haven't gone in a long time though. Thanks for sharing.

My first was mid 2000’s as a kid. I still remember walking through the C5M. Got to again in 2016 and again this year!
Edit, we’ll not the C5 this year but the event. Missed that plane man
