Acceleration using a central black hole of galaxy IC 1101 - Space Engine

In this video i'm showing how black hole can be useful for acceleration to very high speed. What i did was setting the ship to orbit the black hole with very high eccentricity. Then as the ship is nearing to the black hole, watch the Physical velocity number. The number is increasing rapidly until the ship kisses the event horizon of the black hole when it's passing it. Then when the ship is starting to move away from the black hole again, the physical velocity of the ship is 0.71c, which is almost speed of light. Then i started the warp drive. And since the warp drive works as a multiplier of the physical velocity, from 0.71c, the warp drive creates insane speed. The black hole is the central one of galaxy IC 1101, which is the largest one we know. It has 6 million light years in diameter and it took about 5 minutes to leave the galaxy completely with this speed. and i wasn't using the time machine from the warp flight from the black hole point. If it was Milky Way, it would take just few seconds to leave it like that.
The central black hole of IC 1101 is total monster. You can see its lensing from pretty far away.
I hope you'll enjoy the video. Next video i will make more relaxing again :) This one i understand is... a but scary :D

@@viktorzeman7571 What would have happened ifyou have engaged warp drive at 11:30 with efficiency 1% and speed 0.73 c?
@@kirill9064 I guess it wouldn't work. I don't remember exactly.
This is a amazing concept, using a black hole to speed up to near light speeds. But, this would be incredibly challenging AFTER using it. Yes, you could get to far away galaxy's using this method, but what happens when you get there? You have to slow down and burn off that 71% light speed velocity when you get there... thats what. The only efficient way to do this would be by another black hole, with a sufficient enough mass. The process would probably take many years, unless you scraped right by the event horizon, which I wouldn't recommend... because the time dilation would take you possibly thousands of years into the future, since this process of slowing down would probably take a few days, to a few months.
Now this would make for an amazing Interstellar 2 plot :)
Sinable Time dilation isn’t that extreme in reality, it’s only when you get to speeds like 0,999999c that time dilation starts to account for years, but you’re totally right about having to slow down. Slowing down from 0,71c would take a long damn time.
Or you could just slow down and burn off the 71% light speed throughout the whole trip...
@@eiebsrebla time dilation is not only due to speed but also gravity field, which is extreme around a black hole.
@@eiebsrebla on the official space engine website flight manual there is the method where you use a black hole as slingshot maneuver to get to different galaxy and when you reach the galaxy you use another black hole to decrease your velocity again!!
@@KleszczuPK It's still not as extreme in reality. Black hole or speed, regardless, you won't be sent thousands of years into the future.

wow very good job! If space engine tought me something, its that the speed of light is like a snail in a universe. USS Enterprise max speed was cca 9x speed of light. And that again, is basicaly nothing. I dont remember exactly, but to really feel like you moving thru the galaxy, we talking lightyears per second. And to really move between galaxies, it 1000s of light years per second. Ofc you can travel slower and give it some hours, day, weeks, months, years or decades, depends on how much time u really have..... Btw, I made it to the end of universe... its nothing hard, you just fly as fast as u can for some 5-10 minutes maybe. I found mega huge galaxy there. When you enter it and go to centre, you cant see outer space, just light from all the stars. If Earth was somewhere in such a galaxy, we would have not known outer universe exists beyond that galaxy... its insane. Universe is insane! :)
Well IIRC Star Trek got around that problem by implying that "warp factors" are not actually linear... so Warp 9 may be 50 or 500 times the speed of light depending on plot requirements ;-)
The thing that space engine can't simulate is time dilation. When you approach the speed of light, your clock runs slower and slower, so that for you, it could take minutes to cross the galaxy. but for the outside observer, it would seem like an eternity.
Warp 5.2 (Which was the Nx-01’s top speed) is 140c
Universe is insane. And thats why i like it
@@xxGLhrMxx imagine that feature. They keep track of your time dilation and put you in a jail cell to pay it off.

This was really awesome especially when you got that close to the event horizon.
I kinda was behind the event horizon for a while actually. Thanks.
Santiqus also you should check out the central black hole of the Phoenix cluster it's in space engine. I'd be surprised if it wasn't.
I don't think Space Engine has galaxy clusters. It found only Phoenix dwarf galaxy. I was also searching for Perseus galaxy cluster before, but it found nothing as well. So i was searching for galaxy NGC 1275, which is central galaxy of Perseus cluster. It did find the galaxy, but it was just the galaxy alone. No whole galaxy cluster around. Galaxy clusters are extremely massive. It would probably take time to make such things in Space Engine. Well, i'm sure the author of the program is planning to add galaxy clusters, as he said he wants to make the universe as realistic as possible. It needs time.

Great video. I really like the serenity of your Space Engine videos.
But, holy... The size of that galaxy man
biggest galaxy we've found so far
Raphael Lee Somehow, i forgot to say thanks for very nice comment :) And yes, as braddds said, this is the biggest galaxy we've found so far. It has 6 millions light years in diameter, compered to Milky Way, which has 100k light years in diameter.
Viktor Zeman Yes, I really like your videos. and I already search the galaxy IC 1101 after watching this video, and it blew my mind. Diameter of 600m light years is no joke.
and thanks for highlighting. digging for good videos even if the creator does not update often.
+Viktor Zeman It is so big, that Space Engine cannot even randomly generate all the stars for it, like it can other galaxies. It'd cause the game to crash, or your computer to crash. So what it does, is just generate a bunch of gas that puts off light to look like stars, but it is really not. IC 1101 in real life, doesn't have a lot of gas, or dark matter because it is an elliptical galaxy that is reaching the end of its life. Without a lot of hydrogen gas, it cannot produce new stars. While it is not entirely void of new young stars, there is still pockets of star formation, and hydrogen gas, in order for it to survive for several more million, or billions of years, it has to continue to collide with other nearby galaxies, and get bigger.
Our only hope if we ever want to travel the stars is to develop teleportation technology. We could never go to the nearest star system, much less leave to Milky Way for the Magellanic Clouds, or closer satellite galaxies. Much less others in the local group like Andromeda, and even much less, IC 1101 that is outside of our local group.
Holy shit this is one of the best space videos that ive ever seen!!
interstellar 2
Details of what the video is about are in description. Here i wanna let you know of some issues.
There is a visual glitch from about 2:47 to 3:16. The ship in this moment looks like it's behing the accration disk of the black hole. Don't know why that happens. I tried many times and it was always the same. But only with this black hole i think.
Also, there was a recommendation before for how to improve my next video. For example not showing HUD. Well, Space Engine has its own recording feature and it enables recording without HUD. It would be awesome feature if it wasn't recording in AVI only and if i wasn't getting like 5 FPS while recording. So sadly, i can't use it. If someone knows how to make it workd better, please tell me. I can also hide HUD normally, which i'm doing sometime just for enjoiment. But many times i need the HUD for controlling. And now this video was also about showing numbers, not just pretty picture :) So i don't know how to get around with it and not using/record the HUD. But i would really like to.
Also, i thought i could use gamepad for rotating the camera smoother. With mouse it's very shaky. But i can't rotate camera with gamepad while controling ship sadly. It would rotate the ship as well.
So if anyone has some tips on how to solve these problems, i'd be happy if you tell me :)
awesome video... U r the best space engine youtuber ever!!!!
Golden Bros VK Wow, thank you :)
Santiqus i shared the video in 600 People & channels (including) Twitter
Santiqus are you planning for more?
Yes, i wanna keep doing Space Engine videos. But to prepare the scenario for SE video is harder than anything else i have on my channel, so it takes longer to do next video. Plus recording my spaceship flight when flying to planet in other galaxy or flying aroung black hole and stuff like that and hoping that nothing goes wrong (i don't wanna make cuts) is kinda challenging. Need to do many tests first. Hell, it almost feels like i'm preparing real life spaceship flight. Thank you for patient and for sharing my videos. I am preparing another right now :)
You pop out.. in a utopian future...
Yesterday I did something similar. I thought "hey, let's check out a black hole" so I searched one and let the autopilot warp there. Bad decision. The autopilot stopped too late and I knew I was fucked when I saw the gravity acceleration going up like crazy. I could see it getting closer very fast, so I tried to shut off the warp drive which was still going, but ZOOM I already passed the black hole. I'm pretty sure I flew through the event horizon, resulting in a physical speed of 1c (full light speed) Neither of which should have been possible, as far as I know x)
After that I turned the warp drive back on to get the fuck out of there, leaving the milky way in a matter of seconds. At first it was pretty awesome to be this fast, but now the problem is: How do I ever stop ...? I have since then turned the ship around, boosting in the opposite direction at full engine power. In about 1 day I have managed to go from 1c to 0.94c so I guess this is going to take a while :P
For breaking from such a speed, accelerate time. Just don't be in some star system to not crush into something.
I mean you could do a burn for 2 and a half weeks but you can just bonk into a planet instead since currenntly ships dont have damage and it stops you completely XD.
Great video! You are basically using the black hole as a slingshot. A civilization that is near a black hole could use it to accelerate to relativistic speeds, however they need to make sure they don't get to close to the event horizon, otherwise time dilation will cause them to travel forward in time and they may end up in a dead universe: where the last star has burnt out. Btw i don't think the black hole has a diameter of 6 million light years.
The galaxy has 6 million light years, not the black hole.
Mute the video and play "No Time For Caution" at 8:28
Imagine the g forces in the ship
This little maneuver's gonna cost us 51 years!!
That's awesome! Almost thought it wouldn't work 😂
Hi guys, i jut wanna let you know that i have another channel where i upload speed paintings. You know, those videos in which you can see the process of painting/drawing picture in fast speed. Here it is: th-cam.com/channels/lLel7UZ4iyGOTkjbU4jslQ.html Maybe some of you would like to watch such videos.
I don't know if i will make another video on this channel. I have to battle the TH-cam's ID content system, which keeps claiming my videos because of the music which i simple want to have in my videos, period. Otherwise, it would be boring for me creating the videos. And the royalty free music is boring. Maybe sometime i will make another, but i can't promise anything. I am sorry.
don't play with black holes they say it'll spaghetti you and your ship they say OH YEAH? I'LL SHOW YOU SPAGHETTI
It’s all awesome & fast until you realize that you have to burn backwards for literal decades to go any direction other than your heading
Awesome!
Awesome video man
Thanks :)
Awsome video!!! awsome :DDD beautiful, I like to watch your videos
Thanks, i'm glad you like it :)
It's great, but how will you slow down?
By starting slowing down with time accelerated. Well, at least in Space Engine. In real life, it would be a problem. It would just take forever. Or you could use another black hole for breaking and pray.
Well, if only so.
The ultimate question
Incredibly precisely aim for another black hole prior to launching yourself.
Need a mod that shows how many stars you hit or how many stars you flew too close to fry during the warp.))
Realistically none
What is the accelerational gravity of this black hole ? Why we cant reach 0.99c speed from acceleration by gravity force of this blackhole ?
theorically you can, just go closer and closer from the event horizon, but the closer from the event horizon, the riskier is to fall
That guy was kissing the event horizon already, one little fail at angle or acceleration and its game over, and this would become more and more dangerous the closer you are from C
"acceleration using a central black hole"
casually pulls out an alcubierre drive
smh my head
Warp momentis so cinematic
How did you manage to get out of this alive, if you went past the event horizon?
Okay, how are you going to stop the ship now? :P
Didn't dip down beneth the event horizon, it surfed right on the edge of it. You would not have survived anyways, if you look at the amount of g forces that ship experienced it would not have been very likely. It was many times the amount you would experienced in a fighter jet going at max speed....
I know about this and he did pass the event horizon.
Malkovith1 Yes, i did pass the event horizon. Space Engine isn't so perfect yet, so my ship survived it. However, if you take only the escape velocity in consideration and not the g force, i was able to get out, because when i started warp drive, the ship started moving many times faster than light. And stopping is possible even from 99% light speed. It would just take long time to break. Or you can use another body. Preferably black hole again for such speed.
Oh he actually did... Never mind then.
Whats the name of IC1101's Super Massive Blackhole??
It probably doesn't have name. We are happy to actually know that there is IC 1101 galaxy at all. So, naming any object inside the galaxy is kinda pointless.
the speed is 12.50 kly/s which makes 18000 kly/d which is 0.0055188 gigaparsec a day, if we accept the distence to the edge of the universe is 14.26 gigaparsecs it would still take 7 years to reach the edge of the observeble universe
how to make the HUD look like this?
How do you dismiss camera when controling spacecraft? sorry for my english
If you mean turning off HUD, it's Ctrl+; (the key right under Esc key). Otherwise, i don't know what you mean by dismiss camera.

Hey Viktor Zeman, I’m pretty sure that your video about falling into Sag A* has gotten blocked in the USA. I can’t view it anymore, Copyright sucks...
Hi, thanks for letting me know, but i can't do anything about it. These copyright laws are the very reason why i stopped making Space Engine videos. I just want to have music that i like in my videos, otherwise it would be boring for me creating it. And royalty free music is boring.
I know, TH-cam is destroying everyone who has any copyrighted music in their videos. There are even some occasions of being copyright-striked when using their own music! Best to migrate over to Twitch or Vimeo or something. The more you like any piece of music the more likely you can’t use it in youtube.
Story about being claimed by using your own music 😔 th-cam.com/video/6f-db7tE-L4/w-d-xo.html
@@vehicleboi5598 I don't blame exactly TH-cam. I mean, their system probably has some flaws and wrongly claims some videos that didn't use anything copyrighted. I mostly blame the greedy copyright owners. They claim your video even if you use just few seconds of it. Yea, i am using copyrighted music in the whole video, but i'm not trying to sell the music. I was working hard on my video and just wanna use the music to make it better. I'm not claiming the music as my creation. If i could credit the copyright owner and make free advertisement for them, i would do that gladly. But it's not enough. They just claim the video and then the whole video is theirs. In description.
Plase can anyone tell me what is Huge Wild Rising To Slowdown-23697 - Alan Paul Ett, BMI|Alexander Khaskin, SOCAN? A company called Music Et Al, BMI (Spirit Production Music - Audio Horizons) just claimed this video, because according to them song or sound of which name i stated above is playing in my video in time 8:51 - 10:00. I am 200% sure that it's not the name of that song. No such thing is playing in my video. I could not even google that name.
See, this is the reason why it takes so much time for me to upload anything. Because i'm tired of crap like this. I wanna upload video with music i like. I have to test the music many times by uploading it to youtube to see if this stupid system won't find it and the owner company (notice how i say company and not the actual creator of the music) wouldn't cry because they are afraid that singe dollar is running away from them since they probably don't make enough money. I spend most of the editing time dealing with this crap before youtube gives me green so that i can actually use the music. I really don't enjoy that. Then some a*shole comes and click claim and think of some random song name to use for it, just to troll me. Yea and now he is monetizing my video. The whole video is the person's work, right? He spent two days creating it. Why should i keep making videos? This is extremely frustrating. If an actual owner of the music claimed the video, i would say they are greedy, but this is completely false claim.

If you could pass me a screenshot of the email I would appreciate.
I just sent you message with the screenshot. I already disputed the claim. Need to wait 30 days now. And thanks for the links. It's true that i wasn't searching for it so much. Because it made me angry so much that i really didn't bother since i knew very well what music i used and that the music they are saying is playing in my video is not that music at all. It's composed by someone else and its name is different.
And even if the true owner claimed it, you know, i am not trying to make money with the music. The name of the music is not tagged in the video. I just wanna use the music i like for making good atmosphere in the video. If i just uploaded the music with just a picture, that would be different story. And i cannot even provide any link to the company (or whatever) of the copyright owner. I would like to post link where people could buy the music, but it's simply not enough. They want all the money. Yea, it's their music, but i'm not stealing anything. I simply have no respect for these companies. It's never even the composer that would claim it, it's always the company that released the music. These laws are ridiculous.
There's not more information in the message that what you posted, so I guess it was useless.
I think the best now is just wait for the dispute and it's results, 'cause honestly, it's just a shitty music producer that no one ever even heard off trying to gain some money.
So, how did it go? I waited exactly 5 months.
