OMG this is so true - I got the "hey you left something in my car" phone call excuse - turned out to be a pair of his mother's sunglasses, not mine - ha ha. I was funny and sweet the day I came to "claim" the glasses I wished him well as he was leaving on a job trip. A week later, he then called to video chat with me at 11pm - because he was thinking of me. I was nice said that's sweet but I am very tired and kept the chat below 5 minutes. Self Control is extremely important, realize that you both need time to reassess the whole relationship. Including the dumped realizing that the dumper did not fully appreciate who they were and are willing to risk losing you. Stand your ground - yes they do think of you.
My love of 5 years cheated on me, i do miss her but definitely not going to accept her if she comes back. I also did all begging and pleading when it was all her fault. She definitely doesn’t deserve a loyal guy like me
The break up that got me watching these videos really broke me at first. 3 weeks of failed attempts of reconnection and then I became wiser and gave her the space she needed. It's mindblowing how at first all I thought about the break up is how it broke me, but I ignored all the lessons it taught me. Now I really think I've won more than I've lost.

Been more than one month and I listen to your videos everyday. Initially I did no contact because I wanted my ex back. I never thought I would be okay not talking to him I was dying for like weeks. And then as time flies I'm getting stronger emotionally, now I'm moving forward and just enjoying my single life. I wish I had found this channel before I went on my needy , spinning meltdown. Because I couldn’t eat or sleep for a couple days. I was so shattered. I needed a calm voice of reason. I needed this reverse psychology.
Do the things this man tells us all to do. Focus on yourself! Work on yourself and use the pain of your breakup as fuel to become the better version of yourself. I've quit my crappy job, started working out and looking better, met some new people... I can tell you have all of this within you, don't do any of these things for your ex or anyone besides yourself! Become better because you are better! You have a bright future whether it's with your ex or not.
The hardest part of all this is the first few days. You are grieving the end of the relationship and going through the so-called bargaining phase. You've got it wrong, I miss you, let's try again. Aarrgh. Yes, I made all these mistakes. I feel like I have lost the one person in this world whom I wanted to be with until the day I die. Everything is horrible. Yet this video, this advice does make sense. They left for a reason and you can't make someone love you. There is no magic sequence of words which will make them come back It's so hard, but all we can do is carry on, and in time when the dust settles, be grateful for what we had . I remember when a guy dumped me because he wanted to pursue another girl. I was a bit sad and let him know but I accepted it and wished him well and walked away. He said thanks for being so cool about it. I guess he was used to messy breakups. Sure enough, months later after we had not spoken, he contacted me again wanting to get together after his other option did not work out. I was already seeing someone new and way over him by then. I think the fact that I gave him the breakup and walked away with dignity made him remember how cool of a chick I was. So true when relationship experts suggest it: Don’t beg and plead when you’re dumped. It’s not attractive at all.
Hopefully sharing my story helps someone! I'm still on the road to becoming the best version of myself. After almost a year my ex reached out, organised an activity - had fun. One week later sent a message to set another date and she did not reply. Back to no-contact, it will be definitely harder this time around, it feels like the beginning of the breakup again. The concept of no contact seems logical but is scary at the same time. He left me because he didn’t have enough feelings left to continue the relationship. We never had any serious issues, he just left out of the blue because I wasn’t interesting enough anymore. It’s hard to believe that he could ever change his mind, but there’s nothing I can do but focus on myself now
The fact that they announced to you that it’s over (as opposed to ghosting you) may be that they want you cry and plea, and rage and blame, etc. Say “OK” and walk away.

I wished I had found your channel sooner, like a year ago, after having the worst break-up of my life. Had been seeing a counselor during that time, she’s great and a strong advocate of self-care and working on youself. But I guess I was missing someone telling me the points you have on this vid. And the reasoning around not contacting an ex. But on the brightside, at least, I would know how to deal with a break-up much better in the future with the help of your contents.
I’m not trying to give anybody here false hope, I’m just trying to tell you not to completely doom yourself. I was with an avoidant ex and I promise I never thought I would hear from him because he was so cold to me when he broke up with me. I left him alone. He texted me twice and was asking how I was, how I was feeling all that. I got over him so I didn’t care as much, but just telling you, don’t doom yourself. I never thought I’d get over this person either but I did with lots of time and space :)
Get your ex back technique is exactly right as long as you're in the moment and serious about your stand as and when it happens. If they pull away be ready to equally distance yourself. You can allow yourself a couple of minor chase moments, but no more than that. You automatically go to backup otherwise. Don't become too attached too soon. Fall in love but all means but be balanced.

Day 3 no contact. I’m dying. We have been split up for about a month and we have had to be in touch in order to sort moving out of our apartment. At the start I felt like I had the upper hand in that I kept it together. She was shocked and called me really upset one day and I played it cool. A week down the line we had a really messy argument and I poured my heart out and acted desperately. I am so annoyed. Today was the last day of us needing contact which is actually a relief because I think she needs the gift of missing me. I hope the space will make her realise that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. So annoying because I know I'd be dealing with this better if we weren't in a lockdown. Too much time to think and ruminate.
Rory, I really love your vids and agree with everything you teach...with one exception: the no reach out when there is a death in our ex's family. I cannot imagine that our ex would EVER consider coming back to someone who was so cold and unsympathetic. I know I wouldn't. A dignified and sympathetic condolence card or message seems in order, no matter what.
Hi Bonnie, I completely understand how you feel. the reason I suggest this is because many of us are not in our right minds and we believe that any form of contact with our ex that isnt negative must mean they want us back. That's certainly rang true for me. I don't condone reaching out to specifically your EX - reaching out to their family with a card or some flowers is absolutely fine. Hope that clears my stance up a bit!
@@TheLoveChat Yes, Rory, I can see your point. I certainly do not want to encourage anyone to use such a sad situation to try and advance their own agenda of reuniting with their ex. While it seems obvious to me, it may not be apparent to others that a condolence card or flowers should NOT be an attempt to reconcile with our ex at such a time, and a polite and appreciative response from our ex should not been taken as an invitation back into their life. Send the card / flowers to the grieving family and then get right back into no contact. Let your brief and appropriate kindness and sympathy be a point of light for your ex to consider as time goes on during no contact. Keep up the wonderful work, Rory. You are greatly appreciated. :)
I feel like I made a huge mistake not reaching out on the anniversary of her dad’s death in October. I haven’t heard from her since & I think I’m being punished. Did NC fail me that day? I know she doesn’t deserve my love but she must think I’m horrible now.

The only way I would have him back is if he does some healthy self development work on his avoidant attachment. He'll never do it. I ended it and told him that he needed to keep away from me so I could heal because he's a wrecking ball of emotional pain swinging through people's lives with his victim mentality. Can't noone do anything about that.
Isabellnecessary have more faith in people! I dated a guy for 2 months and left for the same reason and because he reminded me of my ex. After a month I sat down with him and the break up gave him a huge wake up call. We just had our 6th year anniversary and are expecting our second daughter in a month. Sometimes people do change!

My ex and I work on the same place and it just so happen we have the same lunch break. We saw each other and we had a good interaction laughing and giggling ang joking and I ended up inviting my ex for a coffee date via email. It took time for my ex to reply and agreed and set up a date. We will meet this Saturday and I am really anxiously waiting for this moment and to finally talk to my ex formally after a couple of months since we broke up. Hey Rory!! I hope that after all my hard work, that I will feel indifference on whether we get back together or not. What I don't understand is why would you want your ex back if they cheated on you. I can see if you did something to push them away, but what if you were a good partner to them. Not saying that people don't cheat but what are the chances that they won't do it again. Is that showing love for yourself if you're wanting someone back that's flaky. It's not easy but it's necessary. Look at it this way. If he broke up with you for a downgrade, why would you want a person like that? Give it time and space, like Rory has said. Work on yourself and get better as a person. The best revenge is success and self improvement. It gets better I promise. Stay strong and stay in no initial contact.
D Bond broke up oct 1st. I would text him to talk about the relationship. He never initiated texts, but would respond immediately. He wouldn’t give me a “ yes” or “ no” answer about getting back together so I stopped texting him

What about if they left clothes at your house? And vice versa. I’m not reaching out to her to get them back. On the other side, what she left here I know for a fact she will want. He's clearly trying to reconcile with you. Be careful. You don't know if it's out of boredom or if it's genuine. He has to win you back. Make him work for it and take things slow. If you get him what he wants and allow him back into your life easy, he knows he can come and go as he pleases.

so i tried doing no contact after begging but i made the mistake of texting her sister to ask for advice as i wanted to do the right thing....back fired, now ive been blocked and been told if i text her before the new year i will be blocked there as well, as my number is the only thing she hasn't blocked. Harry my wife left me 10 November. She told me on 12 Dec that it was over. In between that I messaged her pleading for another chance, I sent her a letter telling her how I felt. I did everything anyone would do in your position. On Christmas I hoped she'd message but I had to initiate contact. I explained I struggled as to whether to contact her or not as I wasn't sure how she felt when she seen my name on her phone. She replied and whilst it seems she hasn't changed her feelings towards me, at least there's open communication and a chance for me to win her back. Whilst your ex is with someone he may just be another distraction for her and if anything she will be comparing any future partners to you. Stay strong and talk to a friend or a stranger about your feelings. If she reaches out you need to be respectful, confident and over time you'll be able to hopefully talk, laugh and flirt with her. Have been friends with my ex for a year since our breakup and watched him dating other girls. :( We've met a few weeks ago, and we hooked up. Hey Rory, could you make a video about a gf breaking up with me because i did things like looking for external validation and liking other girls pics in the beginning of our relationship. i brushed them off like things that weren’t a big deal. I eventually went to therapy and tried to look for the root of my issue and everything came down to insecurities in me. Hey Rory ex reached out about and week and a half ago after I went no contact for about 3 months she texted hey I found some of your things and 1 of your credit cards ( it was only sweat pants and pjs, the card I canceled) she also said I’m sure I left things over at your place. Yes, it does. Stay in no contact. That means complete no contact. No story watching, no liking posts, no stalking, no talking to mutual friends about your ex, nothing. Work on yourself. Get in the gym or go for a walk/run every day. Run, preferably. When your heart rate gets up to 180 for extended periods all of the stress seems to leave your body. Do this and stay in no initial contact.

OMG this is so true - I got the "hey you left something in my car" phone call excuse - turned out to be a pair of his mother's sunglasses, not mine - ha ha. I was funny and sweet the day I came to "claim" the glasses I wished him well as he was leaving on a job trip. A week later, he then called to video chat with me at 11pm - because he was thinking of me. I was nice said that's sweet but I am very tired and kept the chat below 5 minutes.
Self Control is extremely important, realize that you both need time to reassess the whole relationship. Including the dumped realizing that the dumper did not fully appreciate who they were and are willing to risk losing you. Stand your ground - yes they do think of you.

The break up that got me watching these videos really broke me at first. 3 weeks of failed attempts of reconnection and then I became wiser and gave her the space she needed. It's mindblowing how at first all I thought about the break up is how it broke me, but I ignored all the lessons it taught me. Now I really think I've won more than I've lost.

Been more than one month and I listen to your videos everyday. Initially I did no contact because I wanted my ex back. I never thought I would be okay not talking to him I was dying for like weeks. And then as time flies I'm getting stronger emotionally, now I'm moving forward and just enjoying my single life. I remember when a guy dumped me because he wanted to pursue another girl. I was a bit sad and let him know but I accepted it and wished him well and walked away. He said thanks for being so cool about it. I guess he was used to messy breakups. I think the fact that I gave him the breakup and walked away with dignity made him remember how cool of a chick I was. Hopefully sharing my story helps someone! I'm still on the road to becoming the best version of myself. After almost a year my ex reached out, organised an activity - had fun. One week later sent a message to set another date and she did not reply. Back to no-contact, it will be definitely harder this time around, it feels like the beginning of the breakup again. The concept of no contact seems logical but is scary at the same time. He left me because he didn’t have enough feelings left to continue the relationship. I’m not trying to give anybody here false hope, I’m just trying to tell you not to completely doom yourself. I was with an avoidant ex and I promise I never thought I would hear from him because he was so cold to me when he broke up with me. I left him alone. He texted me twice and was asking how I was, how I was feeling all that. I got over him so I didn’t care as much, but just telling you, don’t doom yourself. I never thought I’d get over this person either but I did with lots of time and space :)
Get your ex back technique is exactly right as long as you're in the moment and serious about your stand as and when it happens. If they pull away be ready to equally distance yourself. You can allow yourself a couple of minor chase moments, but no more than that. You automatically go to backup otherwise. Don't become too attached too soon. Fall in love but all means but be balanced.

We have been split up for about a month and we have had to be in touch in order to sort moving out of our apartment. At the start I felt like I had the upper hand in that I kept it together. She was shocked and called me really upset one day and I played it cool. A week down the line we had a really messy argument and I poured my heart out and acted desperately. I am so annoyed. Today was the last day of us needing contact which is actually a relief because I think she needs the gift of missing me. I hope the space will make her realise that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. So annoying because I know I'd be dealing with this better if we weren't in a lockdown. Rory, I really love your vids and agree with everything you teach...with one exception: the no reach out when there is a death in our ex's family. I cannot imagine that our ex would EVER consider coming back to someone who was so cold and unsympathetic. I know I wouldn't. A dignified and sympathetic condolence card or message seems in order, no matter what.
Hi Bonnie, I completely understand how you feel. the reason I suggest this is because many of us are not in our right minds and we believe that any form of contact with our ex that isnt negative must mean they want us back. That's certainly rang true for me.
I don't condone reaching out to specifically your EX - reaching out to their family with a card or some flowers is absolutely fine. Hope that clears my stance up a bit!
@@TheLoveChat Yes, Rory, I can see your point. I certainly do not want to encourage anyone to use such a sad situation to try and advance their own agenda of reuniting with their ex. While it seems obvious to me, it may not be apparent to others that a condolence card or flowers should NOT be an attempt to reconcile with our ex at such a time, and a polite and appreciative response from our ex should not been taken as an invitation back into their life. Send the card / flowers to the grieving family and then get right back into no contact. Let your brief and appropriate kindness and sympathy be a point of light for your ex to consider as time goes on during no contact.

The only way I would have him back is if he does some healthy self development work on his avoidant attachment. He'll never do it. I ended it and told him that he needed to keep away from me so I could heal because he's a wrecking ball of emotional pain swinging through people's lives with his victim mentality. My ex and I work on the same place and it just so happen we have the same lunch break. We saw each other and we had a good interaction laughing and giggling ang joking and I ended up inviting my ex for a coffee date via email. I can see if you did something to push them away, but what if you were a good partner to them. Not saying that people don't cheat but what are the chances that they won't do it again. It's not easy but it's necessary. Look at it this way. If he broke up with you for a downgrade, why would you want a person like that? Give it time and space, like Rory has said. Work on yourself and get better as a person. The best revenge is success and self improvement.

He's clearly trying to reconcile with you. Be careful. You don't know if it's out of boredom or if it's genuine. He has to win you back. Make him work for it and take things slow. If you get him what he wants and allow him back into your life easy, he knows he can come and go as he pleases.

so i tried doing no contact after begging but i made the mistake of texting her sister to ask for advice as i wanted to do the right thing....back fired, now ive been blocked and been told if i text her before the new year i will be blocked there as well, as my number is the only thing she hasn't blocked. Harry my wife left me 10 November. She told me on 12 Dec that it was over. In between that I messaged her pleading for another chance, I sent her a letter telling her how I felt. I did everything anyone would do in your position. On Christmas I hoped she'd message but I had to initiate contact. I explained I struggled as to whether to contact her or not as I wasn't sure how she felt when she seen my name on her phone. She replied and whilst it seems she hasn't changed her feelings towards me, at least there's open communication and a chance for me to win her back. Whilst your ex is with someone he may just be another distraction for her and if anything she will be comparing any future partners to you. Hey Rory, could you make a video about a gf breaking up with me because i did things like looking for external validation and liking other girls pics in the beginning of our relationship. i brushed them off like things that weren’t a big deal. I eventually went to therapy and tried to look for the root of my issue and everything came down to insecurities in me. I wouldn't worry much about it, my exes have been cold to me and i've never went back with any but my last one treated me much better now i've begged and pleaded once a week for 2 months, and he still says he cares about me more than any other and wants to talk to me everyday.

My ex and I broke up 3.5 months ago, for the first month we were in frequent communication because he wanted to think about getting back together; we ultimately did not. After this, there was drama for a few days which escalated into an argument. We haven't had real communication since, I have tried reaching out and I get ignored or I am met with generic, but friendly responses. We do not follow each other on social media but he often looks at what I post. We broke up because he was concerned about us moving too quickly, even though he asked me to make major commitments to him and when I did he got scared and left. I do not want to be with anyone else besides him. However, I am lost as to what to do. I have no reason to contact him, other than the fact that he still has some of my things, but I am also worried that he is beginning to move on and see other people. Do you have any advice for me?
Literally in the same situation! We broke up 2 weeks ago, but we stayed of as friends since we were already before the dating happened. I didn't beg or pleaded(surprisingly I took it well idk how-). I also do not want to be with anyone else beside them, bc they made me really happy during the 2 months of our relationship. For now, I'm on NC since I have holidays and I wanna spend them with my friends and family before school starts again. I want to focus on myself for now and try to get them back with the help of Rory's advices because I truly and dearly love them and it's hard for me to move on and let them go. Get in the gym or go for a walk/run every day. Run, preferably. When your heart rate gets up to 180 for extended periods all of the stress seems to leave your body. Do this and stay in no initial contact.
