- Today was my final day in Kharkiv and before I left, Patrick and I decided to have one final meal at our favorite cafe near the park. Here's what the high speed inter-city train looks and feels like to take from Kharkiv back to Kyiv.
Thank you for watching my entire Kharkiv series this season, if you enjoyed it and want to buy me a coffee, pizza or a beer, to support my work, you can do so here: www.buymeacoff...

Hey Johnny. Just a correction: I was the guy who rented the Kharkiv apartment from August last year through the first of 2024. I’m an American medical volunteer and did volunteer work in Kharkiv and am now living and working in Konotop, Sumy Oblast.
Thank you! 🙏❤
Thank you Sir!!!🙏💙💛❤💪
Thank you for helping people there
Thank you Walter!
I was born in Ukraine, under the Soviet control. In the last 30 years I have been to Ukraine once on a business trip. I detest that place. They exposed themselves when we were leaving the country. The locals openly wished us ill and misfortune.
I think what your videos also show Johnny is ordinary people doing everyday things and it is a reminder that what is happening in Ukraine could happen anywhere to any of us and why it is important to be in solidarity with Ukraine. The news reports are much more impersonal about what is going on, your videos make it very real. Thanks Johnny!
100% agreed, thank you!
ESP THE TEARFUL GOODBYES bec the funerals are that final sobs or shrieks that i attended
Thanks for the post! Thank you for your support!
I'm from Kharkiv. Thank for supporting urkanian people!
That music they played when you stepped out of the train gave me goose bumps. Kyiv is such an amazing place
I love it as well and felt the same!
20:58 The music that plays at the station when the trains arrive is the anthem of Kyiv, "How not to love you, my Kyiv" («Як тебе не любити, Києве мій»)
Great song!!
Johnny. God bless you for your humanity and spirit to help. Seriously, that’s rarer and rarer these days. Can’t wait to get back to Ukraine. You probably recall I met you in the street about a year ago while I was there in my first volunteer stint. When I came back again in May this year I think you were still traveling. But it was just about right when the orcs renewed their concentration on Kharkiv.
You have to love and respect how Ukraine has been been pushing back … and hard! As much as I’d love this to be over, how sweet it would be to take back all the land stolen from Ukraine!
I’m between Armenia and Georgia right now wearing my FCK PTN shirt, NATO shirt, Ukraine flag color watch band and my field cap from Ukraine. Had some “interesting” reactions from Russians here.
I want to thank you again for telling it like it is. Just the other day “Breaking Point” the disinformation network in the U.S. was spewing so many lies and altered truths it was hard to respond to all their crap in online comments. So though you are one of a few, I want you to know my personal appreciation for your work in this.
Click click pull.
Great to have met you and thanks for your support of Ukraine! I'm glad you got yourself some reaction swag to remind Russians not to get too comfortable in Georgia.
Kharkiv is just beautiful and it shows how more advanced the Ukraine is in everyday life compared to the average Russian, that food looked amazing WOW that burger🤤..train station in kharkiv WOW baroque loved kharkiv ❤️🏴🏴🏴....
Couldn't agree more!
This is another great video showing Kharkiv before going back to
Kyiv I really liked the train ride back take care and thanks Johnny.
👋🇺🇦
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you, Johnny, that you visited again my native wonderful city Kharkiv! 🙏🇺🇦🇺🇲 Thank you for supporting Ukraine! It's very important for us. Glory to Ukraine! God bless America!
It is both wierd and nice to see that Kharkiv is living a "normal" life even though not far from them there is essentialy a World War going on. I hope normal life returns to Ukraine really soon!
Thanks Johnny for sharing your adventures in Kharkiv! It's such a beautiful city & it's incredible to see the people's resilience & determination to carry on with some normalcy of life.
What will Patrick do there? Is he volunteering for an NGO?
He can take care of himself by his stature. Hopefully you & he remain safe & in contact with each other.
Thanks for your content & continued support for Ukraine. 🇺🇦
Not sure about American news - but here England Ukraine is on the news daily. Especially at present with Ukraine taking Russian towns.
It's back in the news cycle now because of the offensive thankfully, but prior to that it's been silent since Oct 7th, 2023.
Takk!
Have a cup of coffee on me Johnny, it has been a rough couple of weeks, to say the least. Loved your trip to Kharkiv. 😊
Thank you!!
@@JohnnyFD I'm a bit embarrased that it's so little i contribute, but i guess if a lot of people wanted to contribute a little it will make a difference anyway. You do honest work, you deserve the to get paid so you can travel and create.
20 nok buys my daily cup of coffee while I read comments. It's appreciated!
@@JohnnyFD In Norway you would get a cappuccino for 5 dollars. Dead expensive
This train station in Kharkiv is just wow !!
Харьков мой родной город. Прожил здесь 26 лет...
Вынужден теперь жить в одной из Европейских стран . Очень по нему скучаю . Спасибо за видео . Смотрел его на одном дыхании .
I hope you can safely return soon!
Johnny, Ukrainian trains are nice. Took train from Kyiv to Ternopil. Then from Ternopil to Lviv. 1st class seats both times. No complaints from me.
Thank you Johnny! Be safe! 🙏❤
These Historical Documents are Topnotch. Much Love to you dear Johnny.
Ukrainian colors everywhere in Kharkiv. Heroyam Slava💙💛💪🤛🙏
I thought he was going to walk right into the wall at the beginning..😂😂😂😂
Great video. Thank you for showing us every day life in Ukraine
Glad you enjoyed it!
Have you ever thought about visiting a barber shop my guy ? All that TH-cam money and you still can’t get a beardcut my guy.
Thank you for the video Johnny, take care. 🇺🇦
Thank you Johnny for the images of Kharkiv. I follow multiple local Ukrainians who film from Kharkiv, but your images were some of the best.
Thank you!!
Thanks for the tours Johnny. Seems like a nice place.
😎 JOHNNY I'M GLAD THAT YOU ARE DOiNG WELL, I REMEMBER THE LAST TiME YOU WERE AT THAT SAME TRAiN STATiON OVER A YEAR AGO. GOD BLESS BROTHER 💛
Johnny Thank you for sharing this with all of us. As your right .We truly never know what is real in the main stream news. So keeping us informed, helps us share the truth of current events. This world is not a very stable place right now. We all want to get to a world of peace. Much love and respect to you Johnny from Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 🙏🏼 🌹🌎
Thank you Johnny, havin nice video again.
We control now 82 settlements in Kursk Oblast and 1100 square kilometers.
Thanks for video! Take care Johnny!
Well, the food looks great, no matter the price. I'm always thinking of Ukraine, too.
Lovely trainstation😊
It really is!
@@JohnnyFD Now you definitely have to make a trip to Dnipro. (Apparently a similar high speed service runs to there). Their train station is nice too, at least externally :-)
I don't ever feel you should be anywhere else but Ukraine. I don't even know you, but I feel sad when you talk about travelling, although it's your job. You fit so well into life there.
That's why I keep coming back, despite the war.
I spent a lot of time in Kharkiv. It's a great city!
Jake Broe rocks
1:59 A *Daewoo Lanos!* Those things are long, long gone from American roads.
Those were produced in Zaporizhzha, Ukraine until 2017.
They weren't worth repairing in the US as labor is expensive. Boy has Korean cars come a long way since then.
I also dont like sitting backwards in a vehicle. But there is actually a benefit, it is much saver in case of a accident. It is even saver than sitting forward with a seatbelt on.
That is true, but I'd rather take the small risk. =)
Thank you fore sharing Kharkiv Johnny. Leave it to post soviet countries to know how to make train travel a thing competitive with airlines, or at least make it a suitable alternative.
what a cute lil Dining Car!
another great video, the efforts and support payed off, Khrarkiv stands, significant loss of life prevented, well, maybe except for terroruzzians, but then again, no one asked them to keep their invasion and terror campaign
I’m glad your Kharkiv videos didn’t gain much traction. Rip Lordy. You lost many loyal fans.
Yes, good thing more people don't see what Russia has done to destroy homes and lives in Ukraine, right?
I will never watch his videos again. Heartless dumping of a good dog!
We have one man running for US president who has actively been against Ukraine since BEFORE this war. He wouldn't care if the entire country was destroyed so his buddy can take the land for himself. I truly hope he doesn't win.
Yes, unfortunately Trump hates Ukraine and loves Dictators like Putin.
Sleepy Creepy and his sidekick love Xi
@@JohnnyFDNot true AT ALL
Ukraine, super!!
I was a bit surprised that there are high-speed trains in Ukraine, looks more to me like 160 km/h that is a normal speed for classic inter city services.
20:52 that's music is actually the anthem of Kyiv "Yak tebe ne liubyty, Kyieve mii!"

Johnny, thought you were going to do some Olympic break dancing in front of the train station there! 🤣🤣 Maybe next time! Seems like it is getting closer for you to move back to Kharkiv. Maybe by Winter!
The cover of linger in the restaurant made me miss Ukraine so much... Just about every place I went to had covers of songs in English playing. Guessing the right to play the original songs are too expensive so you get these odd, sometimes cool, cover singers.
Slava Ukraine! ❤
Are you guys a couple?
are you jealous ?? 🤣🤣🤣
🤦♂️
my city. Still looks good and free
Джонни мне хочется чтобы ещё долго поддерживали Украину. Проверьте что у вас со здоровьем у вас очень часто одышка слышна, это может быть признаком того что у вас с сердцем не всё в порядке
Interesting walking Darvina to Skovorody Streets
Thanks for your video, Greetings from Germany, Berlin
What does your friend, Patrick, do there in Ukraine?
Details, some wonderfull details. Flowers everywhere.....
Does Patrick have a page we can follow?
No sorry.
Does Patrick have a channel?
Nope.
Nice video JD!
You reminded me of Kung Fu Panda with that kick! 😅

Love your videos! 🇺🇦
Unless someone can correct me, there are no "high-speed" trains operating in Ukraine. Some of the “Tarpan” trains can theoretically reach 200kph, but the track (even pre-war) limits running to 160 kph, which is a shave under 100mph.
It's certainly no bullet train, but it's our version of the high speed intercity train, and is plenty fast.
@@JohnnyFDHSR ("High-speed rail") is a rather specific definition in public transport enthusiast circles. And that's over 200 kph (125 mph). Going at 100mph is just a normal train operating speed pretty much anywhere in Europe. It doesn't have to be (the even higher) bullet train operating speed as such, as there is no agreed single standard anyway, but there is a definite difference in most European countries that have HSR between the "regular" 100mph speeds found mainly on regional rail and the higher speeds experienced on both upgraded intercity lines (125mph max) and routes especially built to take the even higher speeds (155mph to 200mph+)... even to the point where there is an EU Directive (96/48/EC, Annex 1) to define it.
I recall some proposals for Warsaw to link up with the Ukranian border via a genuine HSR service once the war is done you see, but since much (but not all, to be fair) of Ukraine's national network is a wide, non-standard, gauge, it will probably aim to shift to standard gauge for any newly built internal HSR routes as well in order to connect up places like Kyiv and Kharkiv properly and without border interruption with existing intercontinental networks to the west. But that will cost a heck of a lot of money of course, and will only speed up (as it were) as a genuine possibility once it is granted EU membership well after this horrible war ends.
And that's not to say what Ukrzaliznytsia has managed to achieve since February 2022 in terms of keeping the network running in general is nothing short of remarkable.

How is this one not getting drafted?
Not a citizen
@@loverofhumanity so he just loves mouthing off about how much he loves ukraine and want to live his life here. got it.
@@antlbvc5445 agree...im tired of this crap. Telling other men to fight and die, supporting the war effort, yet not putting your own self on the line. I truly think he's getting paid by the ukrainian govt or being controlled and told to say these things.
And though you may disagree my opinion is this: It's a disgusting world we live in. Absolutely disgusting. Our young men die for a few men to get their resources and money while we have no say.
Thank you very much for your regular videos, Johnny.
Why you breathing so heavily?
He is unhealthy and obese and the stress hormones from life being ruined by the war.
because Johnny is not a little boy, and his heart and lungs need to work hard to supply his body with everything it needs. Joni either needs to go on a diet (which is very difficult because of the delicious Ukrainian food) or do Cardio training.
@ManagerAccount2 Oh, I see you are not at all familiar with Ukrainian food and products) This is very difficult to do, almost impossible. I’ve been trying to do this for over 10 years) The only thing that helps is physical activity, you need to burn more calories)
🚄Why this Russian and Ukraine train system has the weird sitting position and even has a table in between that's uncomfortable travelling while looking at each other strangers lol
I once heard that this was made specifically for people who have problems with motion sickness, but I don’t know if this is true.
because this train doesn't turn around to go back to Kyiv, that means that all seats look forward in one direction will look back in another
@@artemsheshunov4175 the theory is good, but you probably didn’t understand that some of the seats are in one direction and some in the other, the same system is in buses, trams, etc....
But buses and trams don’t drive backwards)
I want 1 of those T shirts Johnny lol

Zelenskyy needs to be thrown in jail. 100x worse than Putin.
another indian "expert' in European geo-politic
Well, he was lying about the Gazprom pipeline. But Putin is doing the same with Ukraine! Don't forget it's a war! And Zelensky didn't start this war!!!!!!!
@@eugene8524Indians should probably focus on the skyrocketing ræpësThat are happening in their country amongst their women by their own than fighting Putin’s online flame wars.
the 100X times? is that verified? seems so scientific, you must be a real expert, what a clown
Zelenskyyy was born Jewish but converted out of Judaism severing his ties to anything Jewish but for the locals he is still a Jew. Rest assured the Ukrainians will blame him, "a Jew", for all their misfortunes and misery. They will also blame him for distancing them from their Russian brothers. Just wait and see! That accusation is coming.
Just as Putin is dangerous, the USA is also dangerous. It is better if everyone stays within their own country and does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. There are many examples such as Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Libya.
Should the US and GB not have intervened in WW2?
@@thisisme-u9j The things I stated have nothing to do with World War II. I am talking about the damage that the USA caused to people and countries in the name of peace and democracy in the 1990s and beyond.
Yeah, the USA is really dangerous. They have saved the Russians from starvation several times throughout the XX century. Last time it was in the early 1990s. Should have left them on their own instead...
