This game helped to build me as a medievalist. I played my first time with 8 years old, first game in my first PC. Today I am finishing my PhD thesis on annals and chronicles of Early Medieval Britain and Ireland. Thank you, Stronghold!
Stronghold music always gets me in the mood to work. Maybe it's ingrained in me after seeing the villagers mine, hunt, chop wood--I end up feeling connected to them, as if I'm a part of their world, too. This music never gets old for me.
I play classic games like this once a year, every year. I'm glad others out there can appreciate it like I do and have our slice of nostalgia and better times. Rest here travelers. Calm your minds and learn to smile again.
i play this game with my grandfathe, he have 82 years old, he play now too , this game gift me the best time with my grandfather, beacuse this game is from the another era, when games still made with love.

This game (Stronghold1 and Crusader1) is related to the best feelings of my life. I've been playing it since it came out until this day. Unfortunately, I have never felt such peace, as when I play this game in the dark of my room, surrounded by some food. It was like a portal to the better world.
I dont know how to explain it, but its like the song has emotions and a soul, its just so beautiful and everytime i here any osts i get on pc and play the game for hours.

Best castle building game ever created. Despite all the fancy 3d base building games today! The later Stronghold games were rubbish too - no one since has managed to create a decent castle building game were you can use variable wall heights and build staircases in between for stepped walls on slopes - or build castles on rocks with stairs connecting them etc etc etc :) I wish someone would manage to create a decent castle building game that is not guided by Non-Eurocentral missguided understanding of how castles looked! To be honest even Stronghold was a bit too heavy oriented on Edward III castle types. But you had the ability to build however you wanted :)
Ahhhhhhh What beautiful memories, I was listening to it while my father was playing Stronghold, I think in 2001. A big greeting to the makers of this game from the land of the Arabian Peninsula ❤
i love how in one of the first missions, they want you to prepare for the knights that the wolf is sending, they act like its gonna be the hardest shit u ever faced and you only have bowmen, and after panicing for like 20 minutes there is the guy screaming something like: THE WOLFS KNIGHTS ARE ATTACKING, WE ARE LOST!!! And there are like 2-4 knights coming xD
I first played Stronghold when I was like 5 or 6 and didn't understand a word of English, back in early 00's. I got my girlfriend into the game just last week and she's hooked. It's really amazing how well this game aged.
