Finally a video that gives you some sense of how accurately it can nail some classic distortion tones and not just some 80's poodle haired dude shredding the melodic minor scale. Thanks. This is actually helpful. I may just have to pick one of these up.

You people should be nice to Brian May. He played chords too. Any one with all that puufty mcgoofty hair of his deserves props for his pre-headbanger saugage tinged chops. And I really liked his guitar. Red's not my colour though, but I'm sure back then he would've used one. They are an annoyance to change patches but sent through a bright tube amp with old fashioned grown men's wattage 120 wts /2-12" beasties. Well......the young Turks aren't in such a hurry to take the stage. Technique beats 7 series ganged fuzz boxes any day. Carry On Sir

no, we didn't miss that, but we wanted to hear tones and he actually put the effort into constructing tones. he could play like the guitarist from The Seeds and with these tones we would appreciate that the pedal could take him most anywhere he wanted to go

Fantastic demo. I went out and bought the ME-80 and it is one of the coolest gadgets of all time. I am having so so much fun. The range of tones is off the charts. The ability to edit and save presets on the computer and download presets like Josh's here is killer. What Boss has done here in one box is totally amazing. Buy it. Love it. Share the music.

yeah, this is so far beyond any of the other demos/reviews, it is like they were using a different pedal, or couldn't be bothered to do a couple hours of prep prior to filming

i,ve been using an old Roland gp8 for years and was away to change to a ME 70 then i saw this !!, Boss distortions with the best delays imho then a whammy pedal and smart harmoniser aswell !! unreal for the price,,fantastic guitar playing Josh,cheers.

Still have my ME-70 from College back in 2008. If Boss came out with an updated version. I’d think of selling my Headrush. The Cho + Delay is still magical.
As-is, the ME-80 already made significant improvements by adding the FX2 section, Octave Fuzz, and Freeze.
PLEASE MAKE A BASS VERSION!!!! I will buy it the DAY it comes out!!

Awesome video Joshua! Thanks for sharing. What would you suggest: ME-80 or Boss GT-100? I'm a owner of a GT-8 since they've been out and I'm still using it. As I've been thinking upgrading, wich one would you suggest? Do both have the same quality of FX?

You are a great player forget the haters. Are those patches already on the unit or did you get them from boss central and if so what what name should I look for on boss central.
A lot of people have been slaying this fx pedal and I've just been pointing them to this vid - they admit they were wrong. Joshua you're a brilliant player and have a terrific ear for tone. Is there any chance youll make some more patches - I appreciate it's been a while but would love to see what other artists you can do!

I just bought it, and sounds really great. Nice playing and nice set up you got there!
So, I'm just worried with one thing. Whenever I change between saved patchs, one noise (which I believe have a spectrum close to a white noise with a HP filter) can be heard. Is it normal in this multi effect? Or should I request another one from the warranty? I heard a similar sound in your video at 1:27, but it is quite hard to tell if it is the same issue or just some drums from your playback...

Hi Josh, Im still a bit confused how best to use the boss me 80 with a guitar amplifier. Is it best to run it into the fx loop of the amp? If I use the fx loop what is the best way to create patches using the rec/ phones out which will accurately transfer to use with the amp? I hope this makes sense Cheers.

Hi Josh, great demo! I would like to know how to eliminate the great amount of noise when using the compressor in combination with a distortion for a single coil (Seymour Duncan SSL-4, Blackmore strat).

+Borislav Hristov Hi Borislav, ah the great issue, how to reduce noise when you are in essence bringing up the noise floor of any signal with a compressor. Since single coils are by their nature mostly noisey pickups this can be challenging. The best was would be to sun a Noise Suppressor after the Distortion Pedal and before the Compressor. So the signal would go - Guitar - Distortion Pedal - Noise Suppressor - Compressor. Josh.
The amp simulator is not working good if you use it on the input of any amp, its sounds small. So i used send return but its not quiet good also. Thats why i normally use the stomp effects of the ME80 rather than amp simulator on the input of the amp. Its ticker and fatter than amp simulation. I gig 6 days a week in different venues and different amps so i have no choice. I cannot use amp simulator every gig. So sad. I need to buy a powered speaker( it has a twiter) because it can give me the real sound of the ME80. And i need to bring it in different venue. Any thoughts? 😊😊😊😊😊

i have a line6 hd 400 and i rarely use it so much difficult to use i can't even use the wah sounds and the pitch shifter , would love to go back in time and buy this one instead, looks like a plug and rock type of multieffects

Have a Digitech Trio + running through a ME-80 to a Boss Katana set clean or PA. Best setup in almost forty years of playing.
I was just wondering whether a Digitec Trio + would work okay with this - and then saw your comment and that you also have a Katana! Assume you use the ME80 for all modelling over the Katana and the Digitec Trio + for laying down drum & base and looping over?

Robert Weaver Hi Robert, the recording for this medley was done direct (i.e. no amp). So this is how the ME-80 sounds direct to the PA. Josh.
Have been trying to recreate the classic U2 (Edge) guitar sound, i.e. With or Without You, Streets Have No Name. Can't seem to even get close. Achieved this quite well many years ago with a JMP-1 and Quadraverb. Anyone had success with this or is there a patch out there anywhere?? Any info greatly appreciated.

Do you have any GT-10 patches?
Not sure if Josh reads these but I have a question or two...
First, great sounding demo. I'm really impressed with the accuracy of the tones you're getting.
I'm seriously considering getting the ME-80 or the GT-100. I've heard your similar medley video for the GT-100 and while you did a great job, the ME-80 demo just sounds a lot better to me...which surprised me because I assumed both units were using the same basic modeling as their basis. In fact most of the ME-80 demo's I've heard sounded better than the same artists that also demo'd the GT-100. The only GT-100 demo I've heard that really wow'd me was Johnny Marr's.
1. Did you use different recording methods for each of them?
2. Any thoughts as to why the ME-80 demo sounds better?
3. Do you feel with a little more tweaking that the GT-100 is capable of sounding as good or better?
4. As a live performance unit, having played the two units, which would you prefer?
5. Is either or both unit(s) capable of seamless patch changes or delay/reverb spillover? Not when bypassing those effects but actually changing from one patch to the next?
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

***** Thanks Josh. I picked up an ME-80 over the weekend and I've been really impressed with it so far. I put it on a small board with a Robert Keeley modded Boss Blues Driver. I use that as my main dirt set for a moderate overdrive that is a smooth step up from my clean sound and I augment and shape it with the EQ and by cascading it with the digital distortions in the ME-80. It seems to work really well that way. It's not as full featured as my main pedalboard setup (which is a lot more complicated) but as a "grab and go" solution for sitting in with bands or for when I'm flying in to play a festival and using a backline, it's nice to get all the basics covered with sonic authority in a rig I can carry on and store in the overhead (I had to put my huge, expensive pedalboard in a large suitcase and check it for SXSW a couple of years ago...about $100 each way later and stressing about lost or damaged luggage, I vowed to never do that again).
I may still pick up a GT100 at some point based on your feedback and that Johnny Marr video I saw of him talking about it but I've got a GP10 on order and I suspect that will keep me busy for a while. ;)
I did a lot of research before pulling the trigger on the ME-80 and I have to say, your medley demo was the clincher for me. It was super helpful to hear classic tunes that I'm familiar with that were played well...made it much easier to judge how authentically the unit can pull off the real deal than just listening to endless 80's style soloing over a hair metal backing track. Boss should give you a raise.
