Arigato, Pete and Lee! Some superb playing as always.
Cheers Boss People!! Great job on the ME-90 👏👏👏
Thank you BOSS, for being the giant you are in music history, thank you Lee, for this awesome channel, thank you Pete for your brilliant playing and for being such a great entertainer.
Hi! Was just wondering if you can have multiple reverbs on? And can you change the order of the effects for example reverb before distortion etc. I havent found any of these ”cheaper” multi fx that can actually do that?
/Your neighbourhood Shoegazer😊
I’m a simple man. I see BOSS, and I know it’s a quality product.
If I didn’t have access to the BOSS Tone Studio for my Katana, this would be a unit I’d seriously consider. Goes to show how great the Katana line is.
Arigatto
Gotta say, with all the touch-screens and multi-million sub-menus that most units have now a days, its refreshing to see such an "analog" unit. Love it
Old concept, new itteration. Me-50 has been out since 2006
but yeah, pretty cool to see them bring the concept back up
I was going to say the opposite. Looks right out of 1985. If it’s a digital unit I’d rather have a nice large touch screen.
It’s nice to have the choice of either or analog with knobs or digital touchscreen, At affordable low prices and sound great professional (if you know what you’re doing when editing parameters and not overdoing everything so it’s a messy wash of noise and doesn’t sound natural), less is more in my experience. As guitarists and recording musicians/producers nowadays we have a huge variety of excellent sounding affordable gear at our fingertips , and the choice to go whatever route that suits everyones individual preference.
@@pizzaisgood4877but thats exactly my point. If you need all the digitalness of it, just connect it to your phone or computer and you have all the power you could possibly want from the tone central app thing. But, after everything is setup the way you like, its refreshing to just have normal knobs to turn and make adjustments on the go, thats what i like about this unit so much
The down side is that once you create a few presets and change between them, the knobs will no longer reflect your settings.
When I was starting out playing guitar my guitar teacher had an ME-50. I remember him showing me all the cool effects on it. It was so cool. One year for Xmas, I asked my parents for an Eipihone G400 Faded and my dad being the absolute legend that he is, wanted to go the extra mile and asked the guy in the store for something cool that would be useful and he recommend the ME-50 so my dad did a deal on the G400 and ME-50. I was completely unaware of this at the time. Come Xmas, I knew the G400 was there, but I didn't expect an extra box and couldn't believe he got me an ME-50. I'd never even mentioned one before, it was complete coincidence. 15 or so years later, I still have that G400 and I still have the ME-50 and while my rig consists of a Marshall Plexi, one boost pedal and whatever guitar I plug into it, I still plug in the ME-50 sometimes and have a play with it. I've also used it to plug into two amps at once a few times. Still to this day, it comes in useful and is fun to mess around with.
Way to go, dad!
Sounds like your instructor had a word with your dad.👍
I still use my ME 50 on occasion
Me50 myself..rock on🎉
Still use my ME 70…in fact I’m thinking of using it Tomorrow, going direct into direct box into FOH/Stage Wedges, instead of the shitty sounding Fender Mustang which is the back line stage amp.
Thank you for all of the amazing guitar content over the years. I really rely on these videos after work to relax and get inspired. Thank you so much - Lonely Guitarist in California
Why? And why are you lonely? Didn't you play/practise your guitar?
Don't be lonely brother, guitar is a broad church! Even DJenters are welcome!
Don't be lonely mate, we all who play guitar are a band of brothers.
Drummers too, singers and bas... Well.. drummers and singers anyway.
Me too my man.
I’m an partly disabled I used guitar to keep my hands going I have found everyone talks to me not the wheel chair since I found guitar
Solid state amps and digital effects sure have come a looooong way sonce the 90's and Boss is absolutely killing it on both fromts
It's fantastic how on every video I've seen. You describe everything so well so we all know how to use something or what something sounds like or does. Thank you so much guys we all really appreciate it and all your hard work you put into your videos. 😊 thank you all again 🙏 for all your hard work.
Pete in a "chuggernaut" mode with P90's is priceless. Great video as always.
I could listen to Pete play all day long, such a great player.
Thank you 🙏🙏
I was very impressed with all the effects on this FX machine. If I didn't already have so many pedals I would buy one in a heartbeat. The dollar value is insane for what you get. I think this is another Boss home run.
I used the ME-5 for years! Awesome unit!
Guys, thank you so much for this vid. I've just taken delivery of the ME-90. Just watching your demo has blown me away - and I didn't even plug it in yet! You rock!
Oh man this is so exciting. The ME-80 was my first Big Boy pedalboard, but it's definitely showing its age in terms of capabilities and sounds. This new one sounds awesome and retains all the awesome stuff I loved about my ME-80. I have since moved on to the Helix, but part of me wants to buy one of these to fool around with.
Boss keeps doing their thing. I bought the ME-5 back in the 80-ties and the GP-8 and GP-16, and so on as well as RSP and what not. Boss/Roland just knows their effects and pedals.
This is mint. I briefly owned the Headrush MX-5 for a 'chuck in a bag' effects pedal, but chinned it off pretty quickly as really wanted to be able to lean down and quickly tweak a tone mid-jam/gig. This would have been the much more ideal solution!
I love my ME-70, and that was two generations ago. This seems even better.
I love boss stuff. Had the me50 years ago. Then the me70 and finally had the gt1000. The gtk is an absolutely incredible pedal. I use a quad cortex now, but the feel of the gtk cannot be beat. Great product and a great company.
Love all the videos guys.
So nice to hear and see everything with your entertaining ways.
I've used the me80 on and off for a long time, but when I bought the orange pedal baby 100 it totally changed for me. I now use the me80 all the time and hardly ever go back to my board anymore. Because the pedal baby only gives you that flat amped sound it makes the me80 really shine. This me90 looks and sounds great, if I didn't already have the me80 I would buy the new me90 for sure.
Sounds tremendous - I had an ME-70 about 15 years ago and loved it. Went over to the ME-25 as I was travelling and it was fine, but this seems to be top drawer in this price range. Great video, thanks!
I grew up on an ME-50, man that direct accessibility is what I've been chasing ever since.
Aaaaah ME series.. never failed.. i played since 90's.. straight success.. with no problem.. thank you guys you are awesome 😊👍
Never owned the ME-80. But nice to see them keep building on this awesome platform. I have been preaching the Boss ME-50 since it came out. I have all kinds of awesome pedals. But I always run them with my ME-50. It never lets me down.
I have a BOSS ME 70 for 13 years and it's intact, perfect like a new one ! This series "ME" from BOSS is perfect !
Another awesome Anderton’s video! Love how you are genuinely having fun! I’ve been using the 80 for years - def gonna get the 90, albeit almost a year after it came out - Thanks very much! 👍😎❤️
Oh the memories I had an ME-5 in 1989 a year after they came out right until 2011 and it still worked fine. But then I also had a Tascam Porta 1 four track machine both served me well as more of a song writer not a great guitarist lol. Never realized what an outstanding guitarist Pete is so melodic with perfect phrasing! Great unit that ME-90! 👍
I've been rocking my ME-80 so long. Happy to see an upgrade released.
I’ve been collecting pedals since the 90’s. This unit with a couple of rare personal favorites in the effects loop would be most convenient for gigs if you like BOSS sounds. Light weight and like having a multi switcher with the pedals built in. Put a real wah in front.
I really dig modelling and multi effects but I find most these units have too many options. I’d rather have 11 decent amps than 111 and I’m the kind of person who is happy with a knob the just says ‘reverb’. I don’t want to worry about parameters like ‘distant reflection hi cut’, or wherever. Well done Boss, you’ve won me over. Now I’d better start saving up for one!
I'm with you. 10 great of each amp/cab/effects is just great and good enough for most folks. I would like the ability to run two parallel rigs stereo and/or a w/d/w mode.
From laptop speakers sounds fantastic! Modern pedalboard + interface = good job, Boss! Thanks Andertons!:)
Holy .....! What a great and beautiful sound....Boss is the Boss !! I am a Helix user but my first pedalboard was the ME-80 and now I would love to try this ME-90. I think it'd great for those players who are stucked in the analog world and want more versatility...and start in the new digital world but still using a real amp or a real cab...
I just the ME-90 and it was little intimidating in the beginning but your video was so clear and concise. Thanks so much !!!!
You guys are cool. Thank you for the consistent content!
Dad has an ME-80 and it’s great. Boss has made quality, affordable products for years now.
This thing sounds great, and at that price I don’t see myself saying away from buying it. Lol
Great content as always, lads!
I had an ME-33 back in the day. It was pretty good. My travel needs would be well met by a board like this.
I love the ME series. i had the ME33, and then ME50 in the past. They sound great!
Was looking at picking up an ME80 this week for fun. So glad this is out as it looks like a better version of exactly what I need.
great demo as always, thank you! I also like the demo from Alex Hutchings, he's an amazing player!
I’ve had an ME50 then (when that died) an ME70, which I’m still using. These units are bulletproof, and so intuitive to use. What more could you want indeed!
Boss ought to be mighty impressed with the quality of this review...!!...Well done Lee and Pete...!!..😇😇
And this is what I am looking for!! No need for any touchscreen and such. Straight up and go!
Great video and demo! Awesome job!
I can't wait to get my me 90 should be here on Sunday,! Great demo guys!
Great video...just bought mine...be on my porch tomorrow...2 other vids convinced me of potential enuff to buy..yours was a huge leap to actually get to brass tacks of it..
Great chops and extemely versatile axe sir..😊
That guitar sounds absolutely beautiful
I loved the ME-80.I will definitely get one of these.
I won't be replacing mine anytime soon as I think it offers more for metal
@@romanbrandle319 Yes I have got to get this one.
Will get this . I have used the ME80 for 10 years. no problems. Have plugged in to PA direct or amps live .
Sounds absolutely great and simple to use !
I just picked up the me 80 4 weeks Go love it! Getting a great classic metal sound. I see an upgrade in a couple of years..
Made my day! I just sold my Headrush Gigboard to go back to my ME-70. It’s just so easy and sounds great in my amp. But it needed an update! Been holding off the ME-80, hoping for an FX loop.
Update: Got my ME-90. The Modulation, Delays and tracking blow the ME-70 out of the water. The hidden Auto-Wah is top notch and AC Sim are top notch as well. The latter is one of the best I’ve used.
Live, I’ll use an EQ and Compressor before the unit to open up the Comp section.
I loved my ME-8B... the synth stuff was excellent.
Finally an update from Boss 😭it’s so beautiful 🥰
My buddy works in LA, and in their studio BOSS had sent one of these to John Mayer last week and he was using it- IN STUDIO.
Like many players, I'm old-school. I gave up on all the digital menus/submenus deep diving years ago. I LOVE that BOSS still offers a pile of knobs. SOLD!
I have the me-50. Great unit. Played many gigs with it. But I have to say, God I have this one! Great demo guys. I loved the freeze effect.
Great demo chaps! Thank you.
I have a Boss GT-10. Have always found it just way too complicated to programme. Need to retire it I think.
Had an ME-10 years ago - the ME-90 looks like the perfect evolution.
I much prefer a muti-effect unit to multiple individual pedals - it eliminates the need to tap dance when you're playing live!
Will get my pre-order in for the ME-90!
Bought an ME50 about 15 years ago. Done 100s of gigs and all that’s ‘gone wrong’ is I’ve lost a couple of knobs. Love how well they build the ME series.
Awesome review! Thanks! 👍
That is honestly incredible!
I'm certainly not surprised with how good this is. Boss is great. I'm impressed.
I still got my old Boss ME70 and it works fine. Great Pedal !
I bought a ME-5 in 1989 and man, I was so happy. I could make patches for every song on stage and it sounded really good. it was expensive at the time, but worth every penny!
The ME-90 is absolutely versatile, but they really should have made the display bigger, so you can actually name each patch!
I ran a GT-10 for a few years. The other guitarist in my band had an ME-80 for a bit too. Great, utilitarian products and built to withstand a direct missile strike too.
I just ordered mines on Sweetwater I can't wait to get it
I have the Me50 and gigged all over the world with it, amazing quality. Im sure this is the same
Me likes this " direct access knobs" approach to a multi-FX ... great sounds at a reasonable price too 👍👍👍
Nice stuff again from Boss. I still love my ME-50 & B. I think this would have been sublime had it 2 Expression pedal inputs and Footswitch jack for extra functionality, like selecting pedal mode types & FX2 change. Great sounds & demo guys! 🙂👍
I use my ME-50B regularly. It's fantastic
Great review, thanks guys...
EVERY SINGLE TH-cam creator got these but .... Boss is boss hands down and you two went thru that demo EXACTLY like i would have at the shop/booth
This sounds absolutely beyond amazing. Thanks for the demo.
It looks a bit complicated for me though. Buttons, knobs, dials and flashing lights galore.
I still think that is easier to use than something with a screen and a million menus. It seems pretty organized and to the point, like having the different types of effects grouped together with their control knobs.
That's only what a regular pedalboard would look like. In fact, it would look even more intimidating.
Not to mention the alternatives (the multi fx with screens) look even more confusing/intimidating, at least to me.
Looks like a great grab and go to the Pub solution. Small enough to fit in a carry on.
ME 50 user here. I've used its line out for rehearsals through a PA. It contains a Fender Twin sim. Have always hankered after a full on preamp section for more amp tones, although all the effects work great direct with the cab sim, and I've occasionally used it as a life saver.
Wow great review makes me want one of this unit!
What an excellent product and such a reasonable price too
Absolutely great and engaging video. Awesome phrasing and runs. I accidentally watched the whole video!!👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 I own the ME 80
The analog effects with digital were amazing.ME-10
THEY PUT IN A EFFECTS LOOP ❤️
This is a really great review, attention to detail!
The ME-90 sure is fun. Thanks for the review.
Waou!!! incredibly good sounding, intend to change my GT 100 for that beast!!all the effects seem incredible and particularly the overdrives and distortions!!!and the fact it remains intuitive!!! cheers capt and danish pete!!
I have two ME-70's. I found them on the used market for $70 to $100. Perfect for my amature guitar playing.
Very nice video👏It's really interesting. Thanks for sharing it. I wish you have a wonderful day. Take care and keep it up! 👍
Love my ME-80 , it will soon have ME-90 brother.
Great thorough review
Another level by boss...its like I’m craving for ME80 and now here come th ME90....❤❤❤❤❤
Blimey, what great noises. Excellent tool. I would need to do a lot of prep before using it in anger, but you don't need anything else really effects-wise. Great choice of guitar to demo it with too.
I saw Vieux Farke Toure two months ago and he was using a ME-80 into a JC120 and nothing else. He sounded fantastic.
Still use an ME70. Works flawlessly .Does everything I need.
Im really excited to get this. Roland is crushing it.
STILL use my Boss ME-50....will keep this in mind if the old blue one ever goes out....I have it paired with a TONEX now...great combo with KNOBS galore! For us old schoolers (or menu resistant) ;). Thanks for the great review!
Can't forget how refreshing it feels to hear Pete play
Thank you for every video🫶🏻
The one thing that is a bit underwhelming is the reverb, The delay block is like a DD8 but the reverb is just one knob.
I have the Headrush Gig Board, and the BossMe80. Now I want this one.
I have one. None of the patches are perfect but all are good to pretty damn good. The number of possibilities is practically endless. I play in alot of cramped orchestra pits. I need a big pallette and also economy of space. Couldn't ask for a better tool.
I also teach. For intermediate students who are still exploring, multi/FX like this can be an economical alternative to buying lots of pedals and managing that mess of cable and boxes until they know what they want.
In my own band the only pedal I use is a flanger set deep and slow...barely there.
Geez, what great playeng!
Great review too.
Cheers!
This FX is really for me... I'm an old school tweaker haha... I get confused to the modern fx available these days.. this thing is a straight forward fx. Love it! ❤❤❤ Boss is really the BOSS!
Pretty good board for the money. I had a GT5 back in the day which was awesome and way ahead of its time.
I have had this unit for a couple of months now, gigged with it for about 10 shows. The preamp settings are not my favourite - feels a little too compressed, therefore, I use the 4-cable method to the clean channel on my Fender Super Sonic 22. This works amazing and very compact cuz stage room can be a challenge. I use bluetooth on my phone to bring up the proper bank unless you can remember where everything is...I can't. This is great unit for all the cover songs we perform from the 70's to 90's.
I’d been thinking about grabbing a Line 6 Pod Go as a backup/fly rig, but this may just tick all those boxes without the menu diving. There’s something comforting about the old school Boss multi effects.
I agree, I just got back into playing six months ago. Played for three months when I was 16 back in 1996. My brothers friend sold me his squire and Marshall DSL15 (I think 15? It had the same amount of dials as the new DSL20's) for $300 all in cables included. The first pedal I bought was a Boss FX69 Grunge pedal (gen-1) for like $140 brand new. Of course everyone was chasing that Nirvana tone. But, picking up the guitar recently again and I'm playing an olympic pearl Fender player plus SSS Strat and a Yamaha THR10II. I'm thinking of getting a Marshall DSL tube amp again because started playing in a 3/pc 90's punk-grunge jam band and I need to be able to cut through the drummer and this pedal makes sense to me. I'm sure the newer more expensive Multi/FX pedals can do more but for where I'm at this makes more sense, especially for around $350 and you don't need to be a computer sound engineer to shape a tone. I do love the THRII though.... I'm glad I bought it but also having a looper would be huge for me at this price
I’m thinking of doing the same! This thing sounds great
Best of luck whichever way you go but my experience with the pod go was a lot of fiddling, knob turning, auditioning IR’s, menu diving, and never quite getting it where I wanted.
My final decision before I buy, watching you guys!
In the beginning of '90s I had a Boss BE-5 multieffect pedal board, the only thing that made my old Marshall Lead 30 sounds pretty decently... 🙂
This pedalboard has the same philosophy, simple and direct, and the great quality of Boss effects.
Still have my BE-5 👍
