    Fractal waited until the very end to release the best case of the year and drop the mic. Coming from a proud Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX owner.

      @onTopOfYoMutha 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, not the best IMO. I really don't like the fact that there is not enough space\clearance for push-pull configs. If this case had extra clearance on the top, this case would be just perfect. A lot of other mid sized cases have better clearance on top, so why did Fractal not go this route as well?

    • @MatsNorway
      @MatsNorway 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Push pull is stupid. Glad they did not make it even bigger.

    One of the nicest custom water cooled designs I have seen. You didn't go overboard on the twists and turns. Sometimes functional form is better looking than flashy form for the sake of it. Well done. This is inspiring.

    The "wall" that can be removed to fit deep radiators can actually be fitted flush with the motherboard tray. Something this builder, and many others, seem to be unaware of.

    This case in the gunmetal color is so clean, the TG side panel blends bezel blends in nicely with the sides of the case, along with the blackout internals and white LED power button.
    I wish I could still buy this instead of the Define 7 as I don't like the design changes they made with the new angular feet, more logo's killing the clean look, the cutout patterns and it seems many share the same sentiment. Keep the experimental designs in your other cases like the Meshify and Torrent series.
    Hopefully FD strikes a balance between the classic look with the updated features in the future with the Define 8 to hopefully replace my 2014 Define R5.

    continues , or a mountable section to make it continue for reservoir mounting . Just my vision

    just needs a spot at the bottom for two hdd if you decide to take the wall out. A tray like most have in the basement but with a way to attach a pump to the top of it would make it look pretty nice.

    Very slick build. Though I would have liked to see you guys use the GPU Riser Cable for a vertical mount here, as a custom liquid loop is the best scenario to ever use it. Would have been a very nice showcase :).
    I'm shopping for a new case, really wanted to get the Define S until you guys released this. Now I'm wondering if the Define S will get a refresh. There's so many drive cages in the R6 and other features like the door and moveable 'wall' that I won't use. (Most will only 'move' the wall once, into the default position of the Define S.)
    The R6 was a great update. Now I'm eagerly awaiting news for an S2.

    • @qwormuli77

      Yup, nobody should almost ever use the vertical mount on an open air card, but it's good for loops.

    was gonna upgrade to the meshify C and buy a fan hub, but since this just dropped in everyone's faces i now have to wait till this is available. will be switching from a thermaltake chaser mk-1. I seen Alot of reviews for the case, and the only thing that I would've changed would be how the vertical gpu mounts, best case scenario for it is to get a third-party 7 slot to dual or quad vertical adapter mount (requires some light modification but doesn't choke gpu as much) but i dont plan on vertically mounting my gpu so its fine foe me but those who want to may want to make sure you have a blower style cooler on it as the other cooler designs will suffer.

    Hi guys,
    Just to confirm, I have successfully mounted an 140MM EKWB CE in the back, 360MM EKWB PE in the TOP, and an 280MM EKWB CE in the front.
    Everything just fits, the screws of the 360MM are almost touching the 280MM rad because EKWB uses ball shaped screw heads.
    But it does work, and it works great!
    From what I can tell you can even fit another 120MM PE in the bottom, but I didnt do this, so try at your own risk. Looks like plenty of space though.
    As a PSU I am using a Corsair RM750x, so that PSU and a 120MM would work!
    Enjoy builing in this awesome case!

    Thanks for a great vid. Yes, great case, about as close to perfect we may get - possibly the best in it's class currently. I just hope the next version (R7) has a REMOVABLE PSU shroud. It is REALLY ticking me off that it is not removable. If I'm paying $300+ here in Australia for a Seasonic Titanium Or AXi Corsair PSU WHY oh WHY would Fractal force me to cover it up with that damn shroud when the gorgeous glass window affords such a great view of a magnificent high end PSU. It is a modular PSU so making the cables look neat is easy! No need for a shroud - OR, make it removable! Couldn't have been rocket science difficult to make it removable, surely Fractal?!! Oh, and they need to make the top twin piece roof easier to separate. Does anyone, including the reviewer, know when the R7 is due please? If these two things are fixed I will be insisting they take my money !

    fractal should consider using silicone grommets for the HDD trays instead of hard rubber grommets which don’t dampen HDD noise. I have a Define R4 and my backup drive is a 1TB Samsung HDD. When the drive spins up I can hear it hum and it’s annoying. I had a case before it with Silicone grommets and I never heard the HDDs I had in there. There was three HDDs in the case. Two in raid 0.

    Did they do a push/pull setup in front? I'm probably getting this case when it finally releases and am trying to figure out rad sizes and why they went with a slim rad up top. I could see in this specific build, if they used the same rad up top it would block off access to the ports of the from rad. But I wonder if you took away the push pull in front and did just pull that you'd be able to fit a 45mm rad up top as well.

    What size of reservoir are you using in this build. Is it a 150 or 200. Hard to tell sometimes, thanks for any feedback. Much appreciated. I have this case myself on the way to do a build for my son. Want to do a custom loop and not buy a res that’s too tall. We want to easily be able to remove the top of the res if need be. Going with 45-60 mm rad in front 360, and a 240 on top, he wants to maintain a optical drive for recording bootleg CDs.

      @HeadHunterDV81 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A. proAkdag you can but it prevents you from mounting a 360mm rad up top and thats my plan for the case, 360 in the front, 360 up top, res to fill the space and nickel plated copper tube hardline

  • @LeoDavidson

    As well as the USB type-C stuff discussed in other comments, I wish Fractal would stop putting the power/reset buttons on top of the case, or cover them in some way. Do you not have cats? :) They like to stand on top of cases and power down PCs if the buttons are up there. (Even if you disable the power button, a paw standing on it for 10 seconds will power down the PC via the BIOS.) Aside from the power buttons and type-C shenanigans, I really love the Define line. The R5 is the best case I've worked with, and I loved the R4 until the R5 raised the bar. Having the PSU filter come out the front (as on the R5 and R6) is still fairly unique, and any case where it comes out the back (as on the R4 and still most current cases from other people) is a deal breaker to me now.

    Can anyone tell me why is the cooling route like this

  • @Valfaun
    @Valfaun 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    so, they put a dedicated opening for a fill port at the top, a pretty unique and convenient feature, and then they don't even use it in this promotional build, unless i missed it. neither did they incorporate that panel that would hide HDDs if there were any, another special feature here. or the less unique, but still provided slot for a vertical graphics card mount.
    it's a nice build, sure, but i feel like this could've been done just as well in any other case of similar size and would've looked just as good. i get it, it's about "look at all the cool stuff you can put in here", but... it just doesn't make use of any standout features the case offers, is what i'm saying

    • @iiNNeX

    Were those extension cables or just braided cables that plug directly into the PSU? I have a semi modular power supply and I’m not sure what the best option for using braided cables is.

    How thick is that front rad? I'm looking to install a 60mm EKWB EX 360 and D5 pump in the front of the define R6 I have on order.
