Well I'd say Revelations is what started it all, if you remember that was the game where Ezio's counters and finishers became God tier, man became beyond brutal there

Black Flag was the series at its peak. Beautiful to look at, actually fun to explore, fantastic gameplay, great characters and story. Just a fantastic experience.

Hard to learn easy to master is what I whould describe you could go for years not knowing it but once you figure out it’s existence and how to trigger them then it’s easy
@@shapsugh1864 it’s similar to how you trigger the execution combos but instead of tapping square/x on controller you hold triangle/y on controller after you kill one guy and point the movement stick to another guy and if there’s 2 people in the fight it should trigger the double gadget attack move
15:36 it's so weird that Edward has so many sword animations, it's almost like Edward was at first only going to have one sword and then unlock the other one (maybe upgrading it like the pistol handles). But then they stayed with the classic "two swords from the beginning". Personally I like that idea since i really like to fight with just one sword, makes me go around with my bare hands, disarming people to get the takedowns that way
A lot of the single sword animations are taken from AC3 (but I like to think of it as being a badass just runs in Kenway DNA and Connor inherits it as well.)
Facts I just finished the story again a few months ago since I last played it in 2014 and now I'm trying to 100% the game. I love the game so much and love the fact that we're still getting content on it. Edward is great, the setting is beyond beautiful and the things you can do are endless. Imagine if this game was built on Unity's engine it would've been insane

I just love that the wall finishers, even though you're unarmed are instant deaths instead of knockouts but breaking your opponent's neck after an unarmed combo isn't.
The older games were so immersive in terms of animations fluidity, variety and their quality. Taunting enemies, throwing sands, disarming, picking weapons, multi kills, using tools in combat. All gone now.
This brings me back. These animations are a huge part in what made the game so great, you really FELT like a pirate. Just masterful. So lacking in recent games. I miss the double counters. Shame.

15:08 putting a working gun between the handle and blade of a sword is stupidly badass. you can't miss someone who's impaled on the weapon you're shooting with. this is probably why there's little knives on the end of some muskets. it really is a pro strat
Pistol swords werent that practical to use, although they looked cool. For one youncoulsnr sheath them downward as the ammo would fall out, and they were short, misbalanced and heavy. Along with being fragile Adding a second functionality tona weapon decreases its effectiveness overall. Cool tho
Ubi messed up on 2 of the musket kill (single) animations. They have a dupe animation of another 2 animations but the sound effects are right. If anybody wants to see the actual kills just watch the ACIII finishers and takedowns vid
What I found is the chain kills that he usually does with his swords and guns. Those are probably the most brutal. The one where he puts the gun in the redcoats mouth and then lined up the shot To shoot his pistol through the guys head to hit the other red coat. That’s brutal as hell. Plus Definitely matched his fighting style with his personality. There’s A certain confidence that uses out of Kenway when he fights. Not to mention he doesn’t think like most assassins. He’s a fucking pirate,a criminal. He won’t hesitate to fight dirty, or use underhanded tricks to get to his target. Not to mention as you can see is absolutely stupid to attack him head on. No matter how many enemies coming at him. He just proved right here that he can cut them down all the same. At least 100 or more raids under his belt fighting officers captains pirates assassins Templars. you name it he’s found it and came out on top every time. So if you wanna fight Edward Conway get ready to have a fight of your life. Or what five seconds you have left of said life if you are. Either bold or stupid enough to challenge him.
Thanks. Yes, took me a month to find and record all animations. They had to be at the right time of day so the footage isn't dark and has contrast, with a nice background, and right camera angles (these change randomly for each finisher), and avoiding other enemies being in the middle of the animation or shooting at me. Had over 3.5k recordings at the end, and had to choose the best looking, and edit the vid accordingly so the categories make some sense and is easy to navigate and find what you want.
I caught myself a while ago thinking about how I was playing this game, 3 and Rogue for so long, to the point of completing everything that was present in the maps. Because of this video I understand why the gameplay was so addictive.
The attacks, finishes and moves in the Kenway saga (and Shay too), remind me a bit of combat scenes from action movies. I really like this type of combat!! Kenway finishing off a bunch of guys in a row is always cool to see, using pistols, muskets the axes of the Brute guys, and my second favorite style of combat on this game, the unarmed combat, is so cool and a kind of realistic example, edward kick the balls of the guy to continue the combo or to finishing the guy, pushing and lifting the guy up to throw out of the building, make a sequence of punches and end with a elbow strike, and last, kick the kneecap of the guy to make a jumping knee strike on the face.
This what made yhe combat in the older Assassin's Creed games so fun and satisfying. Sure it's too easy, but hey, there is such a huge variety of different takedowns animations which just make you feel like an untouchable, skilled warrior/assassin! If only they made all of them 60 FPS compatible on PS5 and Xbox Series S and X.
Honestly THIS is how you do brutal in games, not the stupidly over the top 16 hits to kill one guy we get in some of the newer AC games. These finishers are brutal, fast, and efficient, and the max hit's I counted was 6, and that was when it was 2 guys at once.

I hate that he has a 2 swords and there is barely any new animations for them. All the cool animations are for the hidden blades or the 1 handed sword

I don't know why, but when I first played it, I remembered only having one sword. Only after purchasing the sword in Havana then only you get two.
