I like how "Walking Away" is more brassy, more "military" sounding, because it takes place back when the Spartan-IIs were still at their peak, before the heavy losses they took at the start of the war reduced them to a few here and there by the time of Halo CE, while the iterations from the original trilogy have more of a choral feel.
We took a walk in the woods. We saw Lions, Tigers and Bears, and even a Heretic Hero. He was a Zealous Champion. We decided to take another walk, and as we were walking away, we went through the trees

I cannot physically listen to this without humming
indeed
Were it so easy
If there's one thing I'm not worried about for infinite it's the soundtrack
Or the sound design
And hopefully because it got delayed so far they will have even more time to polish the music if the composer wanted to add or remix stuff
And the weapon design looks good.
Let's just hope Mastercheif wakes up and halo 4 and 5 were just his lucid dreams
@@VampireFiend616 or wet dreams, thicc cortana in 4, who knows
"halo 5: back for more"
“A Walk in the Woods” is my favorite halo soundtrack ever. It’s really cool to see its evolutions over the years. No matter the game, they all sound good.
All this walking is making my feet hurt, lemme just chill behind this tree and listen to this.
I keep coming back
There was never a reason to go into that hall way after taking a banshee from the bridge... except this one.
@ i literally played that level today just to listen to the music while kicking covenant ass
Which level? Cortana from halo 3?
Growing up in the 90's to a single mother, she would always listen to Phil Collins and Seal. When I played halo CE for the first time this track instantly reminded me of their styles and instantly grew nostalgic over it. Now in my 30's and coming back its the exact same feeling.
My friend group always wondered why I like this song so much. It always gave me a vibe of the 80s. The calm songs type. Though I don't know much about phil collins or seal, it did it hit a note with Hall and Oates' you make my dreams come (true). Somehow it reminds me of those types of songs
Regardless of where you grew up, where you've been, what you've done, who you've met...
Halo, it's soundtracks, the community (although toxic at times lol) has kept us united.
I hope we all get to relive our childhoods when infinite launches, I hope y'all bring your children along, your old friends, new friends. New memories, under a familiar tune.
See you soon people!
Wonderfully said, thank you for spreading positivity!😊
Amazing comment. You have a beautiful day my friend.
some dude named General Heed listened to Heretic, Hero and said: yoooooooooooooooo perfect for my halo vids!
😂🤦♂️
LOL That's right XD
GAH WHICH IS THE CORRECT WAY GENERAL KIDD (way its spelt in the channel name) OR GENERAL HEED (the way the man himself says it) I guess some questions will.nevrr be answered
Halo ce one always gives the most nostalgia. Got it on my xbox 360 around when I first got the xbox 360 around probably 2011 or 2012. I miss those times playing halo ce 2 and 3 with all my friends back then. I like halo 2’s the most out of them all though
So that was CE Anniversary on the 360, unless you're confusing the original with it.
@@skyraider87 the original version of ce is on the Xbox marketplace you know that right?
@@Sing_LoveWRS no I didn't, actually. Interesting. I don't really use the marketplace, so I wouldn't have knowm
@@skyraider87 oh noice and also it costs like 5$ less than cea
2 is more action packed
Halo 2 anniversary would hands down be the best version if they brought back the hitting-an-anvil sound from the original halo 2 version.
The halo infinite one sounds like a well mix of CE, halo 2, halo 3, and a little bit of both halo 4 and 5
yeah can hear the bit of halo 5 in the beginning
@Mc Trucker the music sounds like 343 music style
That’s how stories woek
I'm hearing CE (original, not CEA thank God) and Wars 1. With just a hint of Osiris's theme/Atonement's second movement
@Mc Trucker chill bro, it’s just my general opinion that the infinite has a well mix of all halos, if you really gonna get mad over someone’s opinion then leave
Halo Infinite is finally going to bring us back to what everyone of us fell in love with. Back to basics, but fresh and new, exciting our minds but capturing our hearts. Come on 343, Bring it home.
dude, it's a fucking video game. please get some actual hobbies and form relationships with human beings before you die. there's so much more to life than consuming entertainment products.

“I don’t have to take this. I’m going for a walk”
NOOOOO
"They've always been faster."
this puts me in the feels. played ce anniversary with a friend somewhere in 2014ish and then bought odst to play with him. miss those days
The unsung hero of Halo music. It'd been carrying me through the whole time, and I never noticed.
You never get that feeling like you did playing CE for the first time again after you had played all of it it's irreplaceable
Nothin beat the feeling when under cover of night played while you carried that sniper along the cliffs
Halo 2 and 3 slap wit dis
"Walking Away" is so appropriately named because not only was Reach Bungies last halo game but it was also the last time they'd be remixing "A Walk In The Woods".
God it sounds so good though. Makes me wanna give my life for a faction that doesn't even exist yet.
Edit: the song, not the name. But the name too🤷♂️
@@nakeysnakey6220 i would not give my life for the UNSC

Is no-one going to talk about how Reach's A Walk in the Woods is literally called "Walking Away"? How sad is that for their last game?
As the old saying goes "nothing beats the original" but Through the trees? It hits on a certain level of yes that i haven't felt since halo odst came out. Still dont have high hopes for Infinite just because of 343's track record, but damn am i still looking forward to this game.
Well we can certainly hope
This is definitely a good sign that the soundtrack is back to where it needed to be
343 can make a good story (Halo 4), and a game that flows well gameplay-wise (Halo 5). I just hope Infinite can combine the best of both and improve on it.
How're you feeling about the game after the E3 presentation and getting a lot more info on it?
@@devinbrooks3930 Keeping my expectations low, however I am impressed.
Some call it "a walk in the woods".
I call it a great journey. 20 years of Halo, ups and downs; but the journey waits for no one, brothers.
Just got my grandma to appreciate halo she used to not like it but I finally sat her down and started showing her the cutscenes and explaining the story and she really enjoys it especially the music, today's a good day
Man the Halo 3 one sounds soo damn tight
That crisp yet compressed percussion is on another level
@@cooperlittlehales6268 crisp? Nah. Its compressed a fuck ton tho like its in 60 when everything is in 200 to 320. Basically the sound of gravel. They should have put a more high quality version to give it the respect it deserve.
@@troudbalos That is literally how it sounds. The compression is there even in the highest possible quality of the song. It's a styalistic choice to have it so compressed.
I love the Halo 2 one! So much nostalgia, I still remember playing the last mission over and over again on OG Xbox because I didn't have Xbox Live
We took a Walk in the Woods. On the way, we saw Lions and Tigers as well as a hero, heretic, and a zealous champion. We then took Another Walk and then started Walking Away Through the Trees.
Nice. You put to words exactly what I was thinking.

I do like this soundtrack but its not favorite in halo series tho
Didn't expect reaches version to be such a banger, that stuff hits hard
Halo was a part of my life through all of elementary and middle school. I'm in high school and still playing it and loving it.
I remember playing Halo 3 with my then 10 years old nephew and I recognized all the songs in the game. It was so awesome
You’re awesome!
Decided to pick up MCC this year because a close friend of mine grew up with it and I wanted to see what the game was about.
My original opinion was "ugh dumb cover military shooter with no captivating plot"
And then THIS SONG came on and was like "nah mate, there's more to this game"
..And then I discovered the Flood and were like "No captivating plot, eh?"
"No captivating plot" *laughs in halo*
All the similar parts of each song.
Halo: Combat Evolved 0:38
CE Anniversary 2:07
Halo 2 4:53
Halo 2 Anniversary 7:27
Halo 3 9:45
Halo: Reach 11:17
Halo: Infinite 13:21
thanks man
I'd hope so, they are remixes of the same song
Infinite will drop, and with it your armour, your landscapes, your music tracks, your nostalgia but mostly the boys will be back. With that we can rebuild
Edit: when infinite drops and drop it will, my objective will be to refind the boys and hopefully we can all play together again.
I'm honestly pretty nervous, infinite doesn't look like it's gonna be all that great, but I'm hoping for the best.
@@spookyknife4645 we all are, but if it gets to the point where they're just clearly rinsing the franchise of nostalgia, I'm leaving Halo
Chips Dubbo had better make a return
God I love Bungie, and Halo, and the community. And I love The Master Chief may he never fade from history
Amen. 🙏
Everybody ignoring how funky that fucking bass is in Halo:Combat Evolved.
Reach's version is my all time favorite. Very military feel
I like how "Walking Away" is more brassy, more "military" sounding, because it takes place back when the Spartan-IIs were still at their peak, before the heavy losses they took at the start of the war reduced them to a few here and there by the time of Halo CE, while the iterations from the original trilogy have more of a choral feel.
the halo infinite sounds like the best so far its like halo 1, 2, and 3 combined. Cant wait for halo infinite to release.
I see what 343 did “A walk in the woods, through the trees.”
For me it's bopping my head

We took a walk in the woods. We saw Lions, Tigers and Bears, and even a Heretic Hero. He was a Zealous Champion. We decided to take another walk, and as we were walking away, we went through the trees
We have so many OST's for Halo but this one is seriously under rated, its a true masterpiece it gives true focus and confidence. ✨
I love how every version almost tells one big story, from humble beginnings, to the climax of the universe, down to the last objective: survive.
Thanks for compiling!! Listened to this numerous times as well as your "unforgotten" and "on a pale horse" compilations. So thank you!
CE - That bassline.
CEA - Updated synths and detail in each ear! But that male choir. No.
H2 - Darker, more anticipatory of impending action! But lost some of the bass from CE
H2A - Clean, crisp sounding percussion. But that male choir again.
H3 - Lighter, more atmospheric, at least an in tune choir sound !
Reach - Brass doesn't fit! Having said that, "from the vault" is a superb track from Reach.
Infinite - .....just....wow...
@Jacob hit with a comment from 2 years ago...these are mixtures of mystical, tribal, and futuristic ..plus sadness, optimism, rage, loss.... the whole series have masterpieces by all their respective composers....even Halo 4.
To be honest the reach one fitted the game atmosphere
It sounded a bit more NOBLE
You know what i'm sayin'?
Infinite one is amazing
But reach is also an amazing one
Cuz it captured my emotions in the credits

True
I was born a year before Halo Combat Evolved came out.
I was born a year before Halo CE. I only got into it just when MCC released on PC last year with Halo Reach. Even though I have no time investment from the years of launch, they still make me feel nostalgic somehow.
We’ve walked in the woods for 20 years & still have that wonderful feel like we’re in the game
Being a teenager during this time was an experience I would never give up. 💯 Halo has a soundtrack that is absolutely evocative.
So damn relaxing, yet so empowering. Been a fan of Halo since Halo 3, but love ALL Halo games. It’s a hell of a series.
i can already tell halo infinite is gonna have a sick ost
I think that the special thing about halo’s soundtrack is that it makes you feel like you’ve been transported to another world. A lot of games have an epic soundtrack but few can give you that feeling
Hale's soundtrack has always been a part of what made this franchise so very different from every other shooter to come, before or after. I'm anxious but excited for Infinite, whether I buy it or not I'll certainly look into it.

@@ryanbrown4053 yeah, and that's why the original still has it's own appeal. It sounds like it came from 2004. I understand what you mean though. Personally, the anniversary has too much emphasis on percussion. The snare is mixed to loudly for my tastes.
