I was touched by his tender heart for the Lord. His humility and love for Jesus brought me to tears several times during this interview. I have been walking with the Lord for almost 30 years, and I still feel this joy deeply.

I'm reformed and use "delivered" "deliverance" all the time, because that is what God does. Us stuffy five point Calvinists need to get Biblical about the dark spiritual forces bearing down upon us in our private moments, causing us to feel like we are disintegrating, and driving us to Christ (for deliverance). Richard's emphasis on Satan as the destroyer is appropriate especially when we are bombarded constantly by a world visibly under the judgment of God. May God provide sound discipleship for Richard and use him mightily.

I can agree but we also have to be so careful of the insidiousness of the New Apostolic Reformation and the dangerous ways they twist these phrases and use them to build the case for some of their very twisted theology. Often deliverance for them means you need a deliverance pastor who offen seeks his own glory and makes $$. It can also tempt us to believe it’s just a spirit of such and such we need deliverance from when they truth is we need deliverance from sin. Once saved we are sealed and cannot be inhabited by evil. Many Christians believe their ongoing sin is now the result of being possessed by a spirit causing them to need additional deliverance.

Amen. I would also consider myself a reformist, but I think reformists and calvinists put all the emphasis on sin and we forget that while we are sinners and without Jesus we are slaves to our sin, we are also fighting a spiritual battle. Satan and his minions are very real and they still possess and afflict people to this day. This is not a new or unbiblical idea. And if you are possessed or afflicted, you need to be delivered from that. I'm not saying this man was possessed, but he most certainly could have been afflicted.

I agree.. the last part of the Lord's prayer in Matthew 6:9 literally says "lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil" - that is asking God for deliverance.. The spiritual battle is real. and in Ephesians it talks about our battle not being with flesh and blood, but with the darkness and principalities of this world... We just don't have eyes to see into the spiritual realm yet. I literally feel like i'm being held down by invisible chains to my sins sometimes, and i dont know how to get them off.. i pray but sometimes i dont know if im praying correctly even.. its tough.

Amen!!! Deliverance was a large part Jesus’ ministry while he was on earth. I pray Christians (from whatever denomination) can educate themselves on what deliverance is and how much of a gift it is to us in allowing us freedom on earth.

I’m more reformed leaning and my more charismatic friends kept telling me I needed to rebuke the anxiety & mild depression I was dealing with. I had some pray over me too. One friend told me felt something dark when she held my hand to pray and said it was hard for her to get the prayer out.,The week all the anxiety started for me I had touched and prayed over a woman in the class I teach (at a pregnancy center) that was dealing with depression. She also had a very questionable home life. I think it’s quiet possible that if something demonic was attached to her got attached to me. I’m not saying possessed. When I cried out and rebuked in the name of Jesus the anxiety started to go away. I know some things are hormonal too but God used my charismatic friends to pray in away I had never prayed before.

I love how he explains the deliverance to Allie. One of the things that I always find so interesting about those who identify as reformed XYZ. They don’t like to use language of demons and deliverance, but you cannot read the new testament and negate that there are demonic spirits who can dwell within peoples bodies and must be casted out by the name and the power of Jesus Christ. Not only that but those demons Recognize the power of Jesus Christ are submitted to his authority. Not only did Jesus do it, but the apostles did it.

I've felt such a conviction of the Holy Spirit, listening to Richard's testimony. Truly! The Lord is rich in mercy! What took the devil years to manipulate...it took Jesus just one encounter to change a destiny. Look what the Lord has done

Wow! I marveled at Richard's deep Scriptural knowledge after only having come to know the Lord less than two years ago. It's as if he has already earned a seminary degree!

Richard, I am grateful to the Lord for the good work He has started in you. As you continue your healing process, humbly ask God to redeem your mannerisms from the spirit of homosexuality. Praying for this and seeking appropriate support from a fatherly man of God, will help keep your way pure, remove the appearance of your “old man”who is now dead, and validate the transforming work of Jesus Christ in your life. God bless you!

This all brought me to tears. Jesus, you are so good! Thank you for saving me. Thank you Lord for Richard and Allie. Thank you Lord that after years of trying to create my own identity you’ve transformed my heart and helped me to surrender to the perfect identity you have for me. How generous are you Lord that you would pay the price I could not pay. Do the work I could not do. While I was an enemy Lord. Your love is too great for my heart to understand.
