Whittaker situation.
Mark provides a more in-depth explanation of how the GoFundMe money was sent to them.
While it is unfortunate the money raised was not, and will not be used for a new house-
it’s good to know the Whittakers ultimately received it over the last couple years.
Hopefully those that donated to Mark’s Whittaker GoFundMe campaign are satisfied where and how the money was sent.

Betty, Lorraine, Timmy and Ray all get SSI. Department of Health Services also provides food assistance, medical care, clothing donations, utility assistance and more. They weren't going without.
I've actually seen people with food cards eat better than myself. Tyler should have opened their fridge and I noticed that the camera zoomed around so quickly that nobody could see anything. Mark has already fixed up the house they are currently living in. You have no idea how bad it was. Bad floors, walls, no insulation, and bad windows. He’s also up front about what they are saving for. However, you must realize it’s their money and if Betty calls and says they need money he has to send them the money. He has taken them to Walmart several times, once to get hair cuts, to visit the family burial site, and for Christmas they even got a tree with decorations. They were all so excited. Mark has been nothing but good to these people. Not just once or twice but many times. He has a special relationship with them. Mark never talked finances with them until he wanted to help fix their current house up that was a disaster. You walked in. Delivered some groceries, and started talking about their Go Fund Me. And then started a new one. I think you over stepped your bounds and you owe Mark an apology. Why didn’t you call him and find out what his plan was and what he has been doing up til now. I live about 25-30 minutes away from Huntington, the drug problem is horrible and everybody knows somebody who has been affected from it. You can barely take your kids to Ashland Central Park because it seems every other day, someone's child is finding a needle. Almost every other street you see someone passed out on the sidewalk or passed out in their cars. Seems that no matter where you go, no one is safe from drugs.
Edit: my own personal experience was when I was driving my friend and her son back from the park when we saw two little babies running near a busy road, the posted speed is 35, but everyone was flying down the road and there were no parents in sight. Long story short, cops and cps show up and take these two babies, ages 1 and 3. Their parents where passed out with copious amounts of drugs and alcohol in their system. The house had no power and no running water and these babies were filthy with diapers sagging to their knees.

The gofundme specifically says its for a home. People donated to help provide a home for them. Not to give money to individual family members for their own wants and needs thats unfair to the rest of fhe family. No matter how you look at it those who donated to the gofundme were scammed. They donated under the impression that it was going towards a house. Mark kept giving them money though, because lets face it he knew if he stopped giving them money they would shut him out and he would no longer be able to make money off of them. People who work in the streets with the homeless in LA dont have great things to say about mark. They talk about how they never see him out there giving back to the community he is exploiting. He isnt out there handing out food/clothing ect. He does however pick favorites to keep giving money to ( ones that bring in the views).
Tyler had good intentions with this and no doubt in my mind more things are going to come out about mark in the future.

The last section of this video is devastating; knowing the context.
This family was getting so much help and love from Mark. He had brought them new clothes; so much food; repairs for their home; cars; and more.
I want to be careful to not attack Tyler with personal insults. Tyler; exploited the Whittakers for views and likely a vendetta against Mark after he wouldn’t give away personal details of his interviewees and friends.
The claim he was asking where the money was going like everyone else; I have watched most of the Whittakers videos; and I haven’t never; in the comments; seen this question. It is probably there once; just because I know people can be conspiratorial and weird; but I would say that it is not a question he would have got (before this video) on a daily basis.
The reason he didn’t reveal every purchase is because that would likely be a barrage of purchases and that is a childish request. In the videos we see him taking them out; buying them food; buying them haircuts; especially in his later content.
If anything; the Whittakers have been exploiting Marks kindness. This is not to throw shade on the Whittakers; but just to say that; it was mutually beneficial relationship. They got money and he got views. That should have been all it was; and should have been how it was understood.
Tyler; unfortunately, decided to not only find the family. Which Mark actually said was the way he wanted them to be contacted; not through him giving their details. He implicated Mark to Betty; who is developmentally disabled; and so not a good source on information. Never once did Tyler directly ask Mark for the information; but instead asked Betty; who again; is developmentally impaired and wouldn’t know anything about the money. She seems to think money is endless because she didn’t mention; Mark has given them $100,000 in the past 14 months.
The moral of this story is don’t call someone out without knowing the facts. Contact them and ask first at least. And don’t use your journey for views be at the expense of someone who actually used his channel to help a poor family.
The reason he has stopped making content with them isn’t because of your question; it was how none of them rebuffed you by saying; actually he helps us out alot. If someone gave me $100,000 over 14 months I would be so thankful and I would defend their name openly. Betty didn’t and Mark is rightfully upset about that.

Accountability? the GoFundMe money was donated towards the purchase of a home for the Whitakers and it was not used for that. The Whitakers are not money managers nor have they had access to that amount of money in the past so why would they need $1K here $5k there? The funds donated for the purchase of a home for the Whitakers were squandered away and my guess including the shopping sprees and bowling alley outings that many believed Mark personally funded. That is the real story and real deception we are learning about thanks to Tyler's journalism.

Not only is having people donate towards a house and then simply transferring them the money for whatever misleading, and possibly even literal fraud (If I remember correctly gofundme funds have to go directly towards the cause advertised) - but do these people look like they’re 60k richer from the time Mark first got in contact with them? The house pretty much looks the same, they’re still wearing the same old clothes, and nothing around that property seems to have gotten fixed. I could be wrong, but objectively it definitely doesn’t look like all of that money went to them directly, not even close. What was that money spent on? Is there maybe someone close to them profiting off of the money that was sent? Whatever Mark’s involvement in all of this is, something is 100% fishy here, and even with them demanding the money he should’ve had a backbone and tell them they can’t access it until they’ve reached their goal and a house can be bought. Tyler’s journalism may be exploitative too at times, but at least this situation is shining a bigger light on Mark Laita and his wrongdoings - and there have been a lot.

The Whittakers aren't under conservatorship, the money was theirs to spend legally under the law and the terms of GoFundMe.
