Yeah, wasn’t he the one to trick Achilles into going to the Trojan War? And tried to get out of the draft by acting insane? Makes sense as he IS the great grandson of the trickster god lol
It almost seems to parallel Polyphemus’s smile at the end of “Remember Them” - the incredibly smug smile that says “you fool, you moron, I’m going to get away with this/destroy you”
i love how polyphemus looks like a kid in a face. genuine sadness over his favorite sheep, happiness when he drinks wine and terrifying indifference when he starts eating them... phew

He even instinctively grabs at his sword whenever Polyphemus appears, and continues to keep a steady hand on it as he sees Polyphemus' angered tone. He's the only one always clocked in.
Epic does an amazing job at turning Odysseus more villainous and other characters more sympathetic to better drive home how Odysseus is a monster in his own right.
Wolfy did awesome in making the Cyclops seem a bit sympathetic, especially during the close of of his eye at the beginning where he tears up slightly at “you killed my sheep” If you want to see other sympathetic portrayals of Polyphemus, I would also highly recommend the Polyphemus animation by Imbecileo!
Nice, loved the Polyphemus’s face when he said ‘a trade you see’ it really felt like a villain making a joke and driving home just how fucked the crew is
Right off the bat, I gotta say: I love the wide range of emotions you show Polyphemus having instead of just anger. But you also show him crying for his sheep, happy to be getting new “food and wine”, and show him not just being intimidating; but also creepy. My sincere, deepest applause for you. #CyclopsHaveFeelings2

Something I REALLY want to praise is your design for Polyphemus and how round it is - a couple of other designs I've seen made him things like a muscular, bearded giant or something completely monstrous and inhuman, but this is the only one I've seen where he's almost approachable looking, if not for the clear brute strength in his build, his size, or his tusks. To add onto why I like it, I think you've managed to nail a sweet spot that can flexibly bend toward sympathetic, intimidating, and outright mythical when the need arises. He seems almost childlike when he's tearing up over his sheep and sounds like a toddler parroting a saying their parents taught them when he asks if Odysseus knows that 'pain he sows is pain he reaps,' but then he sits and readies to eat them all and it becomes clear that not only is this COLOSSUS completely in control of the situation, but also that there's an edge of sadism to what he's doing when he smiles at them. For how round, childlike, and almost piggish this Polyphemus is, this is probably the first depiction of a Cyclops in years to remind me why people would have been *afraid* of a concept as simple as a one-eyed giant.
The way Polites is carrying the dead sheep at 0:57 is so frickin hilarious to the point where it's making me even sadder about the fact that he dies just a song later- ; v; Nevermind, literally every single ounce of screentime Polites has is making me sad about his death ; v;

So many amazing details! Love how at 1:53 Odysseus loses his balance a little when Polyphemus sits on the ground XD. And the body language is super expressive, amazing work as always!
The way Polyphemus said wine...you can tell he's holding back more anger. Almost like he was insulted. Odysseus killed his pet...and thought wine was enough to make up for it. Also love the design of him. Simple, but very effective.
The details, man. Odysseus putting the lotus into the wine. Polites and Eurylochus bringing the wine, so they're not so much in the background. Odysseus bowing and smiling while saying his name is Nobody like the trickster he is. Polyphemus kneeling to talk to him. And Polites clinging onto Eurylochus like "Mom come pick me up I'm scared".
It’s amazing to me how brilliantly Wolfy portrays emotions, both with the cyclops having such a emotive body and face but also that moment of realization on Odysseus’ face right before the hand scene. You can see the life drain from his eyes as the realization fully dawns on him. Overall this was splendid as always!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, my god the absolute start from it just being flowers and rainbows with Polities being a Disney princess, Euroclychus petting the sheep knowing that sheep gonna be food 💀 then the eye opens and it is just complete awkward slience, with the funny bit of Polties holding one of the sheeps, then Polyphemus approaching and the awkward hello from Odysseus with the peace sign 😭 I also really loved how you portrayed the "you killed my sheep" some potray as a awkward whoops when cuting back to Odysseus but I love that Odysseus looks like he kinda regrets doing that, then the time to drink part was done so well, then the imeddite negotiation from Ody with Polties being like "go, bestie you got this" the hand animation against the barrel 👏 then it going on from there, then the "Nobody" part was definitely another of my favourite parts then things seemingly going peaceful, despite the cyclops standing though surley he was just wanting to go take a litte wal- .... SHIT RUN ODYSSEYUS RUN 💀😭💀 but yeah I absolutely loved this animatic and I'm so happy with how much you've done ever since the first few snippets you showed, absolutely EPIC
I’m really late to this but I wanted to say I LOVE how Polyphemus moves the boulder in front of the entrance, blocking their escape just like in the actual Odyssey. Wolfy is one of my favorite animators, so talented ❤
I love that you made Polyphemus actually sad for his sheep!! Most animatics I’ve seen portray him as apathetic or just vengeful (not that they did a bad job or anything)
This animatic is utterly gorgeous! I am obsessed with the scene of Odysseus so subtly putting lotus in the wine. It's a 'blink and you miss it' type deal and for the cyclops, it was certainly missed. If you ever plan on doing 'Survive', I know you will do it such lovely justice 🙏
Ohoho I love this sm. The parts where Polyphemus makes the screen shake are great, my brain just goes "OMG WEIGHT." Also the HAND. The Hand Moment ™. And all the little interactions between the characters in the background!!! So fun. I love everyone's faces and expressions. I got chills! Such a good animatic.
I love the design of the cyclops here! The fact that he has tusks that jut from his upper jaw is a great nod to the possibility that ancient Greeks mistook elephant skulls for cyclops skulls. Awesome detail!
OML THE EXPRESSIONS THE POSES THE EVERYTHING WOLFY. Odysseus might not be mainsplaining manipulating manwhoring his way outta this one but you certainly are🔥😎👉👉✨
The utter nervousness and sweating of Odysseus when Polyphemus gets up and is like "Who are you?" are amazing, 10/10 and that handshot + eye opening will give me nightmares /hj
You can just see the cunning in Odysseus as he lays his plans. Really good animation. I swear i will never hear about the odyssey again and not think of these animatics. Keep up the good work(:
Better one, always check if the sheep and food have an owner and then be nice and reasonable to said owner (albiet always have a backup plan) helps things a lot
Okay holy (sheep) cow! That was amazing! I loved how you showed the flow of emotions from everyone! Also the sheep were so cute!! But there were two moment in particular that stood out to me. 1) Odysseus rubbing the rim of the barrel was so natural I nearly missed the fact that this motion is cueing him spiking it with lotus! You made it so perfect for the choreography that the movement's intent was hidden behind the rhythm! And it was so smooth! 2) The Nobody verse has always confused me in my mind because I could never quite grasp the way someone would block/choreograph that moment because our boy sounds so fake but also melodic in comparison to the rest of the song (of course to show the audience he's lying and putting on a mask). But the way you had him bow made the moment CLICK for me! Like that's exactly what the tone and cadence of the lyric is trying to go for, an overly formal/theatircal introduction, with bowing being the way he reminds humble and maybe hides his smirk while facing the ground. Thank you for feeding the fandom with your amazing animation!
So many details! Odysseus’s awkwardness offering a handshake, his half step back? Polyphemus tearing up, and later crushing the barrel? The crew giving Odysseus the barrel, the little hand move along the rim of the cask? The expressiveness of everyone!! Ahhh so gooood!
The expressions in this are PHENOMENAL, I wish I could explain everything-- The sheep being spooked when the other is shot, the fear reflecting in the cyclops' eye from Odysseus turning into one of some odd acceptance. A sort of 'this is a possible threat' type of serious acceptance. The awkward reach out for a handshake before realizing 'oh this is a fuckin' CYCLOPS'. It kneeling down to Ody's level as if to try and portray his hurt further. Even the subtle motion of him spreading lotus on the wine barrel. There are so many subtle expressions that you can't catch on the first watch, I've honestly come back to this at least 10+ times this week. I sincerely hope you're planning to do some of the others in the EPIC sagas! There's just so much in this animatic alone, it's gorgeously done and amazingly put together.
The ending is just as horrifying as I pictured it being in the actual song, that was PERFECT Polites in the background hugging Eurylochus kind of made my heart sink because he thought they were gonna get out without a fight
SCREAMING OVER THIS HOLY HELL THIS IS SO COOL?? I am genuinely obsessed with the expressions of the characters, the affable face of Odysseus turning into fear at the very end is so striking! Also the mannerisms of the characters are SO GOOD, there’s so much personality in every little mimic, and it all flows so naturally!! I’m genuinely in love with this
YESSS YOU CAN SEE WHERE HE PUTS THW LOTUS INSIDE THE WINE, I could never imagine how Polyphemus wouldn’t have seen him but this makes so much sense, beautiful animatic
The way you showed how Odysseus acted in book 9 was really cool! I'm studying the Odyssey at the moment, and I think you did a great job of showing how poorly both parties acted in this scene and the trickery that was used by both Polyphemus and Odysseus. An interesting fact about the scene that you animated is that it is a perfect example of the ancient greek concept of "Xenia". Basically, act good to your host and your host will do good back. Of course, in this case, both Polyphemus and Odysseus they were performing bad xenia. Odysseus breaking into the cyclops home and stealing his food, and Polyphemus eating Odysseus' men. On top of this, Odysseus offering Polyphemus wine is really interesting since in the original poem, Polyphemus is described as drinking "unwatered milk". This was considered to be extremely uncivilised (with wine being extremely civilised), so when Polyphemus drinks Odysseus' wine for the first time, it is likely it was his first time drinking any wine at all. I could go on and on with interesting facts about this book, but this comment is already too long. Anyway, sorry for the long comment! I've been following your Epic animatics for a while, and it's really cool as a classics student to see them side by side to the original text.

I love your design of Polyphemus and I LOVE Odysseus
I’m really late to this but I wanted to say I LOVE how Polyphemus moves the boulder in front of the entrance, blocking their escape just like in the actual Odyssey. Wolfy is one of my favorite animators, so talented ❤
I love that you made Polyphemus actually sad for his sheep!! Most animatics I’ve seen portray him as apathetic or just vengeful (not that they did a bad job or anything)
THE RING on Odysseus"s finger 😭 THE details !!!
The fact that the soldiers brought a damn BARREL OF WINE into the CAVE just because
Love it
The sheep are so friend shaped. Just lil guys. I completely sympathize with Polyphemus.
Odysseus might not be mainsplaining manipulating manwhoring his way outta this one but you certainly are🔥😎👉👉✨
NOT POLITIES SMILING AND HUGGING EURYLOCHUS SO CUTE WHEN HES ABOUT TO DIE
Nice detail with the Cyclop’s tears. That sheep meant a lot to him and nothing could replace that sheep.
The utter nervousness and sweating of Odysseus when Polyphemus gets up and is like "Who are you?" are amazing, 10/10 and that handshot + eye opening will give me nightmares /hj
Love how the Cyclops actually cries at the lost of his sheep
that "you killed my sheep..." gave me chills like if i really was in front of the cyclops
The mischievous energy you gave Odysseus in this is on point!
You can just see the cunning in Odysseus as he lays his plans.
Really good animation.
I swear i will never hear about the odyssey again and not think of these animatics. Keep up the good work(:
3:18 aaah :DD polites in the back! surely nothing would happen to such a sweet bean
LMAO HES SWEATING BULLETS WHEN HE GAVE THE WINE
I love the little camera shakes when the cyclops first stands and sits
I loved how it showed this “monster” was able to show compassion by saying it had a favorite sheep.
Amazing!! I love the Epic animatics, they really helped me fall in love with this musical!
I love this!!! The last shot with Polyphemus's hand reaching DIRECTLY ABOVE ODYSSEUS is really cool too
That was my favorite shot
I've genuinely never clicked so quickly. Love it
I am having the best time of my life thanks to Wolfy deciding to feed us musical animatics.
3:19 HELP- LOOK AT POLITES HUGGING EURYLOCHUS, THIS IS SO CUTE (┬┬﹏┬┬)
2:29 ring on the odyssey’s left hand 🥺
NAH BUT WHEN ODYSSEUS' EYES WIDENED AT THE END WHEN THE CYCLOPS WAS LIKE "haha cute anyways" MY JAW. DROPPED
True morale of the Odyssey: Never kill somebody’s pet, even if it’s a sheep.
The expressions in this are PHENOMENAL, I wish I could explain everything--
The sheep being spooked when the other is shot, the fear reflecting in the cyclops' eye from Odysseus turning into one of some odd acceptance.
GNASHING MY TEEEEEETH THIS IS SO GOOD HOLY SHIT. THANK YOU
I got chills so many times watching this, I'm in love.
Bro really broke into someone's home killed their pets and thinks being an alcoholic will fix it 😂
WOFLY YOUVE OUTDONE YOURSELF AGAIN. This is absolutely fucking amazing my friend! When Ody bows tho, on my knees *many kerm schreeches*
The ending is just as horrifying as I pictured it being in the actual song, that was PERFECT
Polites in the background hugging Eurylochus kind of made my heart sink because he thought they were gonna get out without a fight
Ohmy god the moment he subltly tells his crew not to spill any blood holy moly i love your work!!
I love how Odysseus' expression darkens whenever his true colors show
"Epic" job haha! We watched this in English class (we're reading The Odyssey) along with your "Remember Them" animatic and I loved it!
Holy fudgsicles this is amazing!I love the ending with the hand reaching out!such a cool perspective but how dare you leave us on this insane cliffhanger
