Hi, cheers for commenting, the weather improved as the day went on, Part 2 is not quite as wet, hopefully the second half will be published in a week or so. I enjoyed your trip to Scotland....Tim.
Hi Tim, would we be able to use this clip and part 2 and speed them up further to produce a Picton to Christchurch video at a much higher speed? If so all due credit will be given and we will not monetize the video. Cheers. The team at Notch 8.
Hi, you are welcome to use parts 1 & 2 as requested. It may be a while before trains are able to run again between Picton and Christchurch after the recent quakes. It is a sobering thought to think that some of the views in these videos can never be repeated.
I don't think KiwiRail will be taking on any of British Railways soon to be replaced Intercity 125 units, the scenery is much better admired at a more sedate pace.
The maximum speed is around 60 mph and I would say 45 to 55 mph was the speed range for most of the trip, giving plenty of time to admire the amazing scenery.
Hi Steve, I appreciate your comment, the main reason I use high-speed versions, is that it enables me to show the whole trip. Increasing the speed hides the jelly effect (footage affected is not pleasant to watch at normal speed) caused by the vibration from the diesel engine, there is virtually no problem with electric trains. Most of the good footage is used in the normal speed edited versions, only a few very long shots have been shortened. In an ideal world I would set up a much bigger, more capable camera in the cab, unfortunately in most cases I would not get permission, so this is the best compromise for now. Again I appreciate comments, as it helps me to understand what viewers want to see. Cheers....Tim.
Another great video!
Thank you Henry, I'm pleased you enjoyed the ride.

Dead right, that's mostly why we are wanting to do this, Big thanks also from Notch 8 :-)
Nice video! What is the average speed of the train? Looks to be about 60-80km/h.
Hi Luke, the maximum speed is 100km/h, but I think your guess is about right for most of the journey.
+Luke Starkenburg Looks more like 480-640Km/h with a max of 800km/h. Awesome to see!
Sure glad you slowed down !!!

I doubt it's even doing 50 the cars are passing it and just heading on down the road it's probably doing 35!

You have the best trips and videos, but I hate the Hi Speed Play Back. I'd just rather watch at normal speed no matter how long the video.
