The Besson EEb tuba is the most versatile tuba ever made. The late John Fletcher suggested Besson to use the bigger 19" bell and the low position straight leadpipe. It had not the large bore of the actual 981. By lowering the leadpipe the bell was more pointed towards the audience. I hope Besson would take serious efforts to make their BBb tubas on the same level. In comparison to the euphoniums and EEb tubas, the BBb tubas are not well proportioned. Only very strong players can cope with its limitations. Playing the BBb is a matter of making choices instead of letting the music flow in a spontaneous way. A Melton Fafner 195 BBb with top action compensating valves is what we need!

I have the BE982-2. The Denis Wick 3XL fits in the medium or large receiver but I want to try a larger mouthpiece but the Dennis Wick 4 and 5 don't fit.

Straight leadpipe: what about tall people.
4th valve seems less easy accessable.
The main tuning slide was already too long for some players.
