I think this is the best quality of sound you can squeeze out of a clarinet.... As a Clarinet player, anytime I listen to this, it just sounds heavenly... Great job Buffet Crampon, great presentation Martin 👏 I love it...
I agree 100%, just watch him not open his mouth to breath once in the whole piece (circular breathing the whole time) here th-cam.com/video/VeuhD3WN6y4/w-d-xo.html
Classic professional clarinet sound! It's so beautiful. Although I don't know the piece, Martin's sound gives me the same sense of bliss & joy that watching the story of Harry & Meaghan does. These professionals are world class performers, bar none, & I absolutely love them for their work!
Check Backun, they are Canadian. They are beautiful and excellent. And many great players even say they are better than Buffet. I think it is just your ear, the one that sounds best to you in particular. Leblanc Paris (unfortunately already gone) used to sound great.
@@Hnmcl-l9z Don't you think those "good players" would know if the sounded better with a Buffet. I was just offering a suggestion to try a different one. I have had Selmer, Buffet, Backun, Leblanc, even a Ridenour and they all sound great, I do like some better that others, though. At the end of the day it just a matter of opinion based on what kind of sound you like best, darker, brighter, etc. You will find players, bad, good and extraordinary that will swear for the kind the use, Buffet, Selmer, Backun, Leblanc, etc.
More than a dream. World class level indeed. Best SCHOOL of klarinet for everybody. I play few musical instruments, plus singing. I was recently given a klarinet from friends, I started with folk songs = this video opens me the GATE to the WORLD of TOP LEVEL KLARINET = wonderful and best motivaion fot me indeed ... Thank you very much for this wonderful video ...
Some are asking about the mouthpiece - it APPEARS to be a BD 7 (?) - but even if it were a BD 5 or whatever model one sees being played by a super pro like Martin Fröst, I'd be willing to bet my clarinet that the clarinets AND mouthpieces featured in these kind of promotional videos may well be custom built to suit the player involved. Or, at the very least, super "personalized" or super set up to their taste . . . same as in other walks of life . . . for example in tennis, the racket MODEL the public sees in the hands of an elite player is NOT the same as the one they will buy in the store. The other thing too of course is that as commenter ccanaves (see below or above) points out, Mr.Fröst could sound great playing a CARROT LOL! It might be wise then, not to be over-influenced in our buying decisions by the often amazing sounds we hear in these types of video "commercials" - ALL due respect to Martin Fröst of course who is an OUTSTANDING player and is certainly NOT misrepresenting Buffet in any way, shape or form. It's just that What You See (hear) is often NOT What You Get . . . exactly, that is. Happy clarinetting folks : -)
Of all you said, the mouth piece is always what the user prefers. Mouth piece and barrel are key to making any clarinet sound better. But then again, how it sounds depends on what the user wants it to sound like. I play jazz, so someone like this guy probably would not like my mouth piece and barrel.
If he is not the best clarinetist in the world, I don't know who is. I am not talking jazz or classical or what...I mean he has the best command of this most difficult instrument of anyone. Martin your playing fills me with awe!! I would be interested to hear what you would think of Bakun clarinets. Thanks for the pure enjoyment you give my 87 year old ears!
How's the intonation on the low f key. My Buffet R-13 has a beautiful that rich low F sound that plays perfectly in tune. People selling the back uni clarinet seem to think there needs to be an adjustment on the low f k e y play the note in tune. I've never had to adjust it on my R-13 it's been perfect ever since I purchased it. The entire War not one note is sharp or flat. It's an older R-13 but it is perfect. And it sounds like a real clarinet not an ancient instrument
Okay American bakoon fans. I've never heard one bathroom clarinet that sounds better than what he's playing on on this video. I like we are 13 but I'm going to check this one out. It sounds beautiful it sounds like the clarinet not some weird instrument
Everyone join the bandwagon. Oh my God what a fucking wonderful clarinet sound. Yep, if you are as professional player as this guy, you can give him a recorder and he will make it sound great. Learn to play correctly and your clarinet will have the same sweet sound. Stop being mesmerized by the product, the sound comes from the player's training and experience. I own a Selmer 9 and a 10; I make my own sound and would not trade them for anything. Of course some equipment will make you play better, a good quality mouthpiece, and a proper balanced reed matched to the mouthpiece. The rest, well is just a fucking clarinet.
R13 is a tad brighter and different bore size. It is slightly less stable, but can play much louder than the Tradition. I play the Tradition, and I love the amazing warmth this clarinet gives. However R13 is better in orchestra overall.
Robert Marsalis play on an R-13. I have his Kasper mouthpiece he used to record the Mozart Clarinet Concerto with Cleveland. It's the way everybody used to try to sound. And I still try to sound like.
Back in the day the R13 was near the top of the food chain. Now Buffet has a zillion models to choose from. And you were the cat's meow, if you had a Kaspar or Chedeville mouthpiece.
I think this is the best quality of sound you can squeeze out of a clarinet.... As a Clarinet player, anytime I listen to this, it just sounds heavenly... Great job Buffet Crampon, great presentation Martin 👏 I love it...
He would sound awesome even playing a carrot
Lol.. very funny
XD
th-cam.com/video/LWbj7FYEi3M/w-d-xo.html just in case someone hasn't seen this before
I agree 100%, just watch him not open his mouth to breath once in the whole piece (circular breathing the whole time) here th-cam.com/video/VeuhD3WN6y4/w-d-xo.html
Best comment on here! Yet who wouldn't agree?
this man has always something new to put on to the table.Real artist.
He's such a gift to contemporary classical music society.

Well said.. i agree
Harry and Meaghan? Wow Yeah she is a professional alright in the worst kind of way.
The name of the first song was Nature Boy the best know version was sung by Nat King Cole
I have 4 Clarinets....thank God there is only one Harry and Meagan!!! :-)
Definitely wasn't expecting Nature Boy but I absolutely loved it!
I wish Buffet would send me a clarinet.
Yamaha will last longer. That's what the music stores say. Buffet USED to be the best. Not any more
@Yejun Park You are definitely out of your mind A.H. yejun. I have a buffet thank you.
Check Backun, they are Canadian. They are beautiful and excellent. And many great players even say they are better than Buffet. I think it is just your ear, the one that sounds best to you in particular. Leblanc Paris (unfortunately already gone) used to sound great.
Alejandro Carlos Backun is super overrated, they sponsor good players that would sound much better on buffet

I think this Frost Fellow has good prospects as a musician.
Yes, if he keeps working hard, he will make it one day.
haha
An exceptional instrument for a most outstanding musician. A perfect match
Magical touch on the keys but magical creation with the out of this world SOUNDscape too. LOVE it! Thanks for the gift that lifts spirits : - )
3:33 his clarinet transforms into a theremin.
Très grand artiste, son magnifique, virtuosité géniale!!! Bravo Martin le grand monsieur de la clarinette. Merci pour votre talent
BD7? Looks like I'm waiting before getting replacement for my b40!
Alex Hertadi Vandoren has confirmed a BD7 and BD4 will be out sometime this September

Man! You are excellent! Thank you for this intimate visit to Buffet and your music making 👍

I feel the same playing my trumpet...
Excellent Clarinet, the sound is profound...Jee, i love the Clarinet!
Now if Buffet would only take the same care with setup on the ones they ship to dealers....
Bingo

Martin is definitely one of the top 5 clarinetist in the world.
He’s been in my top 3 along with Ricardo Morales and Eddie Daniels
The best command has Eddie Daniels. In every music style.
That is beautiful. Thank you.
Gorgeous instrument. Thanks to video explorer, who has placed enjoyed thing. I have got a great phenomenon on this instrument. Thanks
Sei un grande Martin anche dal vivo
Wonderful rendition of the song... "NATURE BOY"!
I have heard all the great clarinetist from the early years until present and Robert Frost is by far the best Also, Corrado Giufredo.
"Just calm down Martin" ... that's adorable

doubt
That's awesome! Tradition is close, but not perfect. Glad you found something that is so in tune.
Wonderful
Cara, como ele consegue destacar estas notas desse jeito?!Notas muito rápidas e absurdamente destacadas
Double tongue
What’s the name of the piece in the beginning?
SWEET!!
Sup
What is the music played from min. 01:53? It’s a beautiful piece
Need the essentials…so what’s our price here, and how much do I have to practice?
Master clinician, master musician!
So it’s wood not ebonite?? That first piece was awesome!🙏🏻
What was the song he played at the start??
Is the tradition the new replacement for the R-13. Since mostly Americans by the R-13
Sonho de consumo.

Nature boy - Eden Ahbez ❤
Excelente.
I regretted selling my Buffet Crampon Tradition. It was chosen by a famous clarinetist.
Casually crosses over the bridge like nothing 👁👄👁
That is the most liquid sound I have ever heard out of a clarinet...
6:24 what is the song Someone pls tell me
Does anybody knows what he's playing around minute 2:30?
improvised version of Klezmer Dance No. 2
It’s just the blues scale… he’s improvising on the tune Nature Boy!
Martin Frost numero uno!!!
Wow!!!! 😱😨
Yes, but how is it different from the tried-and-true R13?
Way better
R13 is a tad brighter and different bore size. It is slightly less stable, but can play much louder than the Tradition. I play the Tradition, and I love the amazing warmth this clarinet gives. However R13 is better in orchestra overall.
Is that a Rovner Versa ligature?
Yes
What was the name of the piece?
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
一番最初のppがめっちゃ感動した
小さい音こんなに綺麗に吹けるの羨ましい🥺
Seguí con la práctica algún día te va a salir
Martin's French pronunciation is better than his English... surprising
Well, it's a clarinet made in France (mostly) with a French name, Tradition. Nevertheless, Mr. Fröst pronounces is as an English word.
What mouthpiece do you play?
What is the mouthpiece?
Когда читал, что у него друг в Калифорнии делает ему
@Shan He at 00:25 you can see "BD7" on the mouthpiece, but the weird thing is that there is no such thing as BD7.... maybe a prototype
@Shan He I can't find any info at all about the BD7. It's like it doesn't even exist, do you have a link or something?
ccanaves he his using a prototype clarinet maybe the mouthpiece is a prototype too
RavenShooter YT I figure it’s only a matter of time that Vandoren would pair different facings with the black diamond mouthpiece.
Noch einmal dasselbe und auf Deutsch!-)))
i yust got instrument in my hand lmaooo
I find incorrect the way he mounts his instrument
Stop complaining I see you in every comment section
I agree...I've never been a fan of Martin Fröst in general. Kenny G of clarinet
*Marcellus not Marsalis
Boris Johnson and Donald Trump love it :)
Song at 1:53?
Wondering the same..
@Gabriel Chartrand Thank you!!
Nothing différent...
Just publicity.
Like Selmer.
Blablabla.
Please people?
Found a new vintage.
In good condition
When do you know a musician is lying as he/she represents a musical instrument company? Their mouths are moving.
