Excellent demonstration. I've played the BBb Bass in a British Brass Band for many decades and know how competent you are. Great to see the beast played so well. Bravo, keep up the good work.

I used to have one, but it was silver, I kinda like that matte nickle finish. Nice!
Thanks for the comment, but alas - it's silver. The previous owner processed this coating with a rough napkin, and the silver became dull.

До недавнего времени даже не предполагала что туба так прекрасно звучит, пока не услышала вас и пару других исполнителей. Мой сын учится в муз. Школе на баритоне, но подрастёт, и его переведут на тубу. Удивительно, что этот инструмент не пользуется у многих популярностью, почти никто его не хочет выбрать. У нас в школе 700 учеников и всего лишь один тубист, который выпустится через пару лет!Многие думают, что солировать нельзя с тубой, только играть в оркестре, что ты не будешь востребован. Но вы разбиваете в дребезги все мифы! Туба прекрасна! Недаром же её назвали царицей оркестра. И не только.
Анастасия, спасибо за комментарий. Да, Вы правы, удивительно, что туба не пользуется у многих популярностью. Это увы так. Только есть еще фантастические тубисты и преподаватели, которые разбивают этот миф об своё исполнение. Туба - это уникальнейший, с большими возможностями духовой инструмент.

Сергей, спасибо за комментарий, да, туба отличная, привезли ее в феврале, а музыкант здесь ни при чём! Это лишний раз доказывает, что качественный инструмент даёт большой прирост исполнению.

I played a Besson New Standard for a year. Same model and probably also from the late 1970ies. I have to say, I hated every minute of it (I had no choice of instrument, it was in a military band where the instrument was a part of the "uniform"!). I came from a totally different tradition, with my VERY German style Miraphone 88 CC tuba, extra wide 4/4 (or a small 5/4), 5 rotary valves and gold brass everywhere. The Miraphone´s very BIG, clear, centered, dark sound, it´s overtones, it´s wider bore with lots of power, it´s nimbleness when required, it´s smooth, silent and very fast rotary valves, it´s multiple choice of alternative fingering and it´s perfect ergonomics; all of this had become a part of me. Then the Besson New Standard. It felt like a very OLD, primitive standard! Noisy valves with very long strokes, bad ergonomics, heavy weight for a 4/4, unclear and uncentered sound, a narrow deep end, a difficult intonation in the high end. I know, I know: these two traditions are hardly possible to compare; they are opposites. The Bessons have their strenghts, OK. I surched for these legendary strenghts with an open mind. I found them, but also found that my Miraphone CC delivered much more, in every respect. Already the shape and construction; these british 4/4s are layed out in a kind of outspread manner that makes them bigger than a proper German 6/4 with way more power, better sound, a better low registre and way better valve section with mostly 5 valves and hand hammered sheet metal that keeps the weight much lower. If you love Bessons: fine! But I wouldn´t hesitate to say: look first for the German style Miraphones, Rudolf Meinls, Meinl-Westons, B&S; then the American style York models (MMW Baer, Nirschl, Yamayork, Eastman, Wessex, ZO Thunderbird. If you still find Bessons and Boosey & Hawkes to be the better choice: OK and good luck! Choice of instrument is a personal matter...!😉
Thank you for your interest in this video. I received this BESSON to test its performance and stability. The tuba is original, in very good condition and has already found its owner, who is very happy with it. Your opinion is interesting, and worthy of consideration, in my experience there have been not a few different tools, and I have something to compare with.

👍Hi. Pergunta interessante. O desgaste da bomba é um assunto sério. Requer um bom mestre de latão. Sim, não é uma reparação fácil, mas tudo é possível se essa tuba justificar o investimento.
