Such a difference from the original tree , the skill is in the vision of the finished product and that’s where years of practice shows , well done Peter, another great video
It is amazing how much you can remove and still have a credible bonsai, the skill is seeing the final result in the original garden centre material. Thank you Peter.
Many years ago I heard Peter recite a Japanese saying: “I hear and I forget I see and I remember I do and I understand “ Perhaps that’s why he encourages others to work on what are in fact THEIR trees?
Thank you for this great video and information that is in it... I never understood (above a rapid production) why the Mugos were always (to my knowledge) grafted!!! I bought one 2 years ago at the very beginning of my Bonsai adventure, of course without knowing a thing about "grafted trees) so ! I could slightly fix the Graft part so it now looks a little more natural but anyway; i love my tree....Does any of you folks could get Mugo pines that were not Grafted? (as we all know how collectors consider grafted trees... )Thank you again for this video
I hope so, if I can persuade Peter. I don’t want to work the roots yet so will let it recover. To be honest there isn’t much showing near the surface but fingers crossed.
Excellent . Would an option have been to split the thick branch and move it down and wire it in place leaving more material to develop a larger crown with multiple layers.
As far as I know, pines are difficult for cuttings, normally seed is best. I've tried dawn redwood and had lots of luck with those - if you want to experiment why not have a go.
Peter has such great energy. He’s like the arborist version of Mr. Rogers.

“as I say I don’t give refunds” haha
Great passion between bonsai friends and strategic thinning and styling ~ well done!
Best possible solution for that difficult tree. Hope to see an update. It’s going to be spectacular 👩🏻🌾🪴
Very nice. Like introduction of disguise. Jin add touch of interest in a subtle way.
Peter Sir it's always interesting when YOU work on the tree....

Psssst! Mugo, not Murgo. 😉
I was looking forward the entire episode to also see what you'd do with the roots. Will we get a follow up episode about that?

Can we root hardwood cuttings from THE MUGO PINE?

Never been successful with Pine cuttings but some folk have had success with Black Pine cuttings, using the new candles.
I'd love to watch the video but the approach to Heathrow is very busy.
I think it's Gatwick
Never bothers me.
😂
First time I'm not in agreement on this one. That first angle is too severe, can't see past it.
**snip**...
NOOOOO what have you done!! This is ruined; ruined I tell you!!
**turns tree**
Wait a second....
**mouths fall open**
