I just want a fun league mechanic thats easy to interact with. I dont need some 200 IQ league mechanic that doesnt yield any rewards unless u spend 20 hours reading excel spread sheets and guides.
I'm pretty sure there would be a way to show your progression in the atlas in a cosmetic way, like the atlas burning as you get closer to searing exarch, and getting maggots as you approach eater of worlds, and having the souls of the bosses you killed for maven roaming around. makes it way more tangible than just red/blue bar gets fuller.
Its pretty interesting that necropolis is arguably the strongest crafting mechanic ever added, where you can print perfect items, while also being one of the worst mechanics ever added.
Speaking from a lore perspective, Settlers of Kalguur is probably the prelude to PoE2. The PoE2 showcases have shown the expedition vendors being questgivers in the new game. In one of the showcases, Jonathan Rogers talks about visiting a different island. So SoK being the prequel to PoE 2 is firmly my headcanon since the first teaser.
It's amazing how much I've got done since I stopped playing this league months ago. But the league hype has been tempting me so I loaded up the game a few hours ago and within minutes I could feel I was back in, that I love this game. Sometimes you just need a break. Well, RIP productivity, let's fucking go.
I want a rewarding/fun league mechanic that is optional if you don't want to do it at the time that also doesn't require atlas passive points to make good.
I’ll be honest and say I don’t get some of your points but get some others. This is my first league ever, I’d never played POE in the past so I don’t really understand all of why Necropolis was ‘bad’. What I did notice: Melee 100% needs a fix: I tried a Boneshatter slayer as my first build and was fairly successful, I wasn’t able to clear t17s, but could fairly easily do t16s and with a bit of effort most of the bosses. I noticed however that I felt incredibly squishy, having to go in to packs of enemies where you kill them first or they kill you, bosses or essence monsters doing an insane amount of damage, long range enemies sniping you from distance etc. having to get totem buffs up wasn’t very fun either, but I felt that gearing melee felt a lot nicer than the other build I tried. Corpse-crafting was too confusing: it wasn’t confusing per-se but needing other tools like graveyard planners etc. to work out how to get optimal graveyards just didn’t feel good. It didn’t help that I didn’t have a good grasp on modifiers and what they are classed into (Attack, Defense, Physical etc.). Some of the corpses were cool like the fractured one and I like the new haunted modifiers, but I just didn’t engage with the system much because of how difficult it was managing space in the morgue and getting a craft done. Other notes: I loved atlas progression, possibly my favourite part of the game, just clearing every map and completing it, the theory crafting atlas tree builds and picking what I enjoyed to run.
Accidentally didn’t finish my thoughts oops: I liked gearing melee, though since I started late-league I didn’t understand pricing much or how things were meant to be priced, so getting a good axe etc. was really messy for me. I really like all-flames. I’ve heard a decent amount of things and I don’t quite get it, all-flames felt good to use, with the right devoted modifiers it felt super rewarding to put allflames on to target specific loot rewards, felt a lot like setting up a good run in a Roguelite, having collected good allflames waiting for decent devoted mods and getting that payoff was really fun to me. I also don’t know how I feel about the clutter points I hear. 100% I get the whole morgue being full and corpses filling up your screen being incredibly annoying, especially in combat, the clutter was a lot. But I don’t know how it compares to previous leagues at all, since I felt clutter even with a strict loot filter on. Last point: if they don’t buff melee they need to nerf ranged. My other build was a crackling lance archmage heiro and once I tried it, was when I realised just how many problems melee has. Not only could I easily clear maps with mostly no fear, I could clear bosses so easily, I wouldn’t get completely one shot by ranged casters etc. It’s possible I built better since I understand more of the game by that point, but the difference was just immeasurable, as much as I really enjoyed my Boneshatter build, the only thing it had going for it over the Heirophant is being slightly tankier and easier to gear (not needing super specific corrupts, mana mods etc.). Anyways, sorry for rambling, hope my perspective is maybe insightful to some old time POE players, and let me know your thoughts.

@@TheAluvisify I suppose I didn't have a reference league to compare it to what a 'good' league actually is. I just kind of ignored corpse-crafting because of how much I enjoyed all-flames, so from my perspective the league was all-right? Good? Bad? Just hard to say with no reference.

You been working out bro? I didn't play last league so I didn't watch many videos. Now after a few months I watch this, and it looks like you're going to rip your shirt if you flex too hard
I think the economy of the endgame got designed around Empyrean and it feels bad for everybody else now. The murder of old league mechanics rewards makes the best part of the game, the depth of its endgame, feel bad.
Give us back the old Versatile Combatant to Gladiator GGG. Necros and Guardians being able to hit 75/75 block cap somewhat easily but the actual Block Ascendancy not so much is a goddamn travesty.
Personally I think this one will very much be a story league to establish somethings moving into PoE2. I don't expect this to be an Atlas league mainly because they do that sort of thing in Q3/4. When they do, I expect them to reset the world with the "Divine Devastation" that the PoE2 trailer talked about.
They not, dude. You can do even t17 bosses with high-budget chaos dot like caustic arrow with adorned scaling. Its not s-tier but still amazing for most content.
@@Kvodan When we say Chaos DOT we are not talking about Poison DOT. You're doing the same thing as people who said, "Venom Gyer is good", so melee is fine. Chaos DoT is purple damage, not green. So we're talking about bane, blight/contagion, essence drain, ETC. The nerf to wither was a made to nerf poison DoT, but it destroyed all Chaos Dot builds in doing so. This league not a single Chaos DoT build was viable in Delve where there is almost always at least one person who pulls off 1k depth.
Necropolis crafting is friction and awful?! Best thing to do for me as casual, as I could not run T17's with my builds to make money. And finally it was possible for me crafting some mirror tier items. I even made a Death Oath + HoA + Oriath's End Combo work on a Hierophant. You are crying on a high level here. I did not always got what I want, but the items were still very useful, rather than doing exalt slam/prefix/suffix cannot be changed, imprint, veiling and still getting T12 ES/Mana after many tries. Next league it will not be possible for me to get even 1 item with the high rolls and stats I want by crafting or buying it. You sound pretty much like a TFT-Moneywhale that could not sell his stuff high-priced enough.
Heisting felt awful last league. I still couldn't figure out if it was better to farm my own markers or waste time trying to buy them. Also, if they could fix the Rogues Harbor crash... I'd appreciate that.
For lore i think we are helping build one of the cities we see in PoE2 (Kingsmarch i think is the name of it?) which i hope im right about, city builder mechanic would be cool
I feel like that would just be another example of forcing people to do something that isn't killing monsters for long periods of time. Either the mechanic is so shallow and easy you might as well not have it, or it's complex enough to be satisfying but forces you out of maps for 3 hours while you build your city. Either that or 2 weeks into league you have a google doc with the optimal layout everyone just copies (see Harvest). The history of this game has shown that it doesn't mesh well with slower methodical mechanics. Harvest, Necropolis, the first month of Synthesis, and even just managing your Betrayal board were all hated mechanics.
@@TheBackwardsLegsMan imo city builder would be fine as long as it's basically a thinly veiled passive tree like sentinel or the wildwood ascendancies or inventory management like sanctum. Go on expeditions, rescue people and recover ressources to build within the fortified walls on an island, but there's only so much space, you can add a few extensions to the walls but after that you can't because of the geography. You can have dependencies like need a stonemason to build the bigger buildings, and you might need some specific citizens from the league bosses for the highest tier. And once you've built up the town you can bring the resources in to empower the encounters and get better rewards depending on what you chose to build
No, the endgame rework may have felt yearly, but it was only every other year. At best. The mapping tree sorta threw off that sense maybe, but all in all, it was every other year. I think this feeling of it being forever is more from the fact the leagues have been 4 months instead of 3 and that means that the time between leagues feels so much longer as if it was closer to six months.
What if there were two kinds of T17s? One would focus on giving the best mapping characters a challenge, and the other on the oft-quoted "bridging the gap" to the uber pinnacle bosses. Additionally, what if it was easier to get runnable mods on T17s, but you could increase the challenge further by placing an unlimited amount of a specific currency alongside it in the map device, increasing the magnitude of the map's modifiers according to the amount of currency spent and therefore providing more/better loot?
Nr1 WHAT WE NEED IS TESTS OF LEAGUE - Rest is pointless without tests before because if good league mechanics and reworks will happen there will be people that will find something like map fishing for divine mod get 100 divines and those who wont use it on time will be left with nothing and in first week of the league economy will be already broke so i will feel like last league that i need to finish challenges ASAP and get out of here.
Personally... I'd be ok with them rolling back all of those silly changes with balancing and endgame. Keep the quality of life updates from last league, and just run affliction or sanctum again, or a combination of multiple previous leagues. I think the devs worry wayyyy too much about power creep in these temporary leagues. Being strong in interesting ways for a few months is what grants us the most player retention anyway. The game is in a very weird place with leagues anyway. Standard is just a graveyard for remnants of a fun, temporary league as well as a place for doing test runs for upcoming league starters.
what i want is simple. 1. a non bow attack skill that has very nice screenclear 2. rework of syndicate so that we get our old rewards, but as tradeable items. what i fear? that ggg is gonna stay ggg. makes a nice league mechanic, teamplayers abuse it early on, they nef it, instead of teamplay, into irrelevance
Well i have nothing against being in my hideout for some time, but if my time involves minmaxing some corpses i have to bury, to compete with meta-items, then i rather don't interact with the mechanic at all. If this new mechanic is for example something like a city builder, but is kept interesting and not just slaming things after a spreadsheet, i am totally in for it.
Man I just want the game to be fun again instead of filling like work. T17s and scarabs need fixed and fun needs to be their focus. I think sometimes GGG forgets that this is a game it supposed to be fun.
The interactive fiction point has me wishing they'd made PoE mobile into like a visual novel or something, rather than trying to recreate the same game on a small screen.
T17 is okay on its own. It is not okay if you apply so many effing multipliers, with back to basics being the most egregious one. Atlas is full of those map effect clusters now that can add up to extremely dangerous mods that you normally wouldn't care that much about. It was an experiment that failed. And this is why I like GGG and POE. It is not a corporate safe product that is held on ransom by shareholders. They can experiment with mechanics and decisions, keep ones that succeded, boot out ones that failed. BTB clearly gets the boot.
Give me a league where a get to press a button and loot + enemies get multiplied and I will be happy. I loved sentinel league. I loved Legion League. I loved Ritual League.
The balance is so bad that about 9 out of 10 of the skills are completely useless, to the point where i wonder if they on purpose keep like 10 or so skills stronk to not have to worry too much about balancing. The numerical difference is just so big you cant really work around it, many skills are fun but do like 1% of the dps of the meta 10 skills that also clear like offscreen one shot.
For me it's veil orb acquisition buff and mob's soul eater nerf. May be it's just me but i felt like mob's soul eater DR is way too high. Also it's hard to choose to play melee when the same melee buff apply to bow as well. deadeye forever i guess.
I really like that they are trying to do something to fix melee, but still without some sort of buff to specific skills Boneshatter is just going to bet better than anything else. I really wanted to see a Transfigured Gem that allowed up to 3 Rage Vortex to be in play at one time. That right there would have been really cool. I don't know why they didn't do it. Volcanic of Snaking is really strong, but .... only if you are a STR stacker. How long is stackers going to be the only way to make these skills work. So ever time I think about melee I still think, ya, but what's going to be able to compete with Boneshatter? Even if they buff melee it will make the one working melee skill a target for the nerf bat.
I actually think the lantern and grave crafting should go core but reworked to be way more accessible with dedicated stash tabs and the whole thing being optional.
Play it on Elementalist with fire. Paak_HC has a great guide for it. Super fun to map and bossing is decent, not an Uber killer but can do pinnacle just fine
I still played Necropolis for two months just because the base game is good IMO. I never skipped league mechanics for years (I even played the Lake of no loot) but 3 out of the last 5 I have not liked at all and never touched after the first week which has really sucked. Fortunately having been playing since 2013 I can recognize what I like about POE and I played almost the entire leagues in Sentinel, Crucible and Affliction because I correctly understood that with POE1 at this stage they were experimenting pretty wildly (IMO) to try new niche mechanics that some people liked (not me, but I understood what they were doing with Sanctum, Ancestors and Necropolis). Anyway, here is my deal. I try not to "wish" too much because that sets yourself up to be disappointed and POE is my main game and a big hobby of mine. GGG is going to do what they do so I'm trying not to nit-pick my hobby and to just figure out how to have fun with the product that they come out with. So......I will adjust my build and playstyle to fit how they have balanced the game and do the Atlas mechanics I enjoy (notice I didn't say meta or most lucrative). But that being said, if I hate the league mechanic again I don't think I have 2 months worth of playing like I did in Necropolis (without touching the mechanic after week 1) so my only wish is for a fun and lucrative league mechanic that I want to play.
I send the chaos dot love. Your bane build was my first one in POE, I'd love to revisit it with the knowledge I have now. But I will definitely roll Gladiator if they fix that!
I think most fun of farming was gone because of this long ass stall with the Atlas tree and it need overhaul but for that to happen we need an actual expantion like Siege of the Atlas
Nice video! Good thoughts! Planning on a video how to transition from a league starter to soulrend of the spiral? Was the best build i ever played...could do everything and still was tanky.
I don't expect anything good out of the upcoming league now that most developers are working on POE 2. Their resources are spread too thin. I switched to Last Epoch after playing POE for 8 years straight, and I absolutely love it. True it doesn't have near the end-game content that POE does right now but they have tons of amazing content they will be adding in future cycles. I just got burned out on POE. Best of luck to everyone. LE is just better for the casual player like myself who wants a change.
People who ditched necropolis absolutely missed out, you’ll never be able to easily get 5 t’s on your items again, never be able to do 3 fractures on one item, you can easily craft end game gear, it was crazy.. people who said it was too difficult is small brain with skill issue..
Didnt they say they changed how they would make leagues around 2 years ago? Something about not doing the big expansions anymore but doing more incremental endgame changes. Like f.i. the T17 they added this league. I might be wrong here though.
Man I would love if they made Glad something viable a beast a bleeding machine I tried to cook with Lacerate of Haemorrhage last league, but poet's pen felt way better to play so ended up with going that. I would love to revisit Lacerate of Haemorrhage if they made it or Gladiator feel better.
What I really want is a buff to Contagion Essence Drain build I was playing it for the 1st time in Necropolis... and now it's my favourite build to use It's fun, but it needs to be stronger to compete at all with meta builds
QoL for GGG basically just means either fixing bugs, adding much-needed accessibility options or making changes they could've done literally years ago. I hate using that word, but it's cringe. It's really, really hard for me to care about next league if it doesn't shake up the meta tremendously. And it won't.
Craft leagues are usually not fun, because their mechanics take you out of the gameloop and make you focus on optimizing the crafting RNG. If you land the good result you're happy but generally you don't look forward to these activities unless you're a hideout warrior.
Honestly, I feel like a lot of league mechanics are ruined by trading. Especially the crafting focused ones. And I dont mean trading in general, I dont mean trading outcomes, just trading the league mechanic itself, in this case corpses, in harvests case it was TFTing crafts, etc. I generally play 80% SSFish, so I usually only buy gear and sell relatively valuable items and otherwise trade nothing. This league felt a whole lot less obnoxious when just treating it as slightly juiced rewards in maps in exchange for higher difficulty, plus every 50 maps or so you get to pop out a near mirror item in 15 minutes. Still not a great league since gameplaywise you were basically only playing a slightly harder standard, but avoiding the pitfalls of the hella obnoxious trading that trying to trade board a necro craft or hell, selling corpses, led to certainly much less hate for the league than others had. Side note, hell no on going to the old atlas haha. I hated pingponging shaper elder.
The only thing I want regarding a league mechanic is a way to turn it off. Even before this league, stepping on a sanctum portal or having the crucible UI block your screen while you are trying to do some unrelated Strat feels bad. The mechanic could be the best thing ever, but at some point I'm going to run a farm that doesn't require it and its going to get in the way.
if you spent 3 hours to do a craft, do you mean spending that time in the gy and setting up the craft? because you didnt need to do that. or do you mean including buying the corpses? Because I did like crazy good crafts just grinding t16 and then everyone now and then spent like 15 minutes in the gy and making a craft that was completely insane. using the third party crafting tool was unnessessary to say the least. sure every craft I did wasnt mirror tier, but I still managed to make like one 1.1k dps staff, a 1k axe, etc. spending 3 hours to craft something, thats on you imo.
same, just used it to get a starting scepter for RF and never touched it again. by this point in the league I dont even notice corpses dropping, my brain auto filters them out.

I think this feeling of it being forever is more from the fact the leagues have been 4 months instead of 3 and that means that the time between leagues feels so much longer as if it was closer to six months.
pizza kinda good tbh
Didnt know you are jacked
What if there were two kinds of T17s? One would focus on giving the best mapping characters a challenge, and the other on the oft-quoted "bridging the gap" to the uber pinnacle bosses.
Additionally, what if it was easier to get runnable mods on T17s, but you could increase the challenge further by placing an unlimited amount of a specific currency alongside it in the map device, increasing the magnitude of the map's modifiers according to the amount of currency spent and therefore providing more/better loot?
T18's and up....bloating continued
Nr1 WHAT WE NEED IS TESTS OF LEAGUE - Rest is pointless without tests before because if good league mechanics and reworks will happen there will be people that will find something like map fishing for divine mod get 100 divines and those who wont use it on time will be left with nothing and in first week of the league economy will be already broke so i will feel like last league that i need to finish challenges ASAP and get out of here.
If t17 are not fixed this league is a hard pass
Heard they remove quant and quality bonus of them and make them unavailable for back to basics. Not sure if it is true
3:58 I'm sure you know, but it was Malediction (the debuff), not Malevolence (the aura) 😅
Here's my hope.
I log in to the beach, accidentally scroll the mouse wheel towards myself and the camera zooms out more.
GGG: Surprise!
Avatar of the Veil is insanely good at league-start imo. Just makes all gearing so simple.
How about: "Avatar of the veil: (non-critical?) Attacks ignore enemy resistances + the phasing stuff" - fits thematically (phasing/ignore resist)
what i want is simple.
1. a non bow attack skill that has very nice screenclear
2. rework of syndicate so that we get our old rewards, but as tradeable items.
what i fear? that ggg is gonna stay ggg. makes a nice league mechanic, teamplayers abuse it early on, they nef it, instead of teamplay, into irrelevance
I just hope they keep shield nodes on glad. It's the only class that it matters. I want a lot of reflect splash damage on it. Make it a real tank.
Man I just want the game to be fun again instead of filling like work. T17s and scarabs need fixed and fun needs to be their focus. I think sometimes GGG forgets that this is a game it supposed to be fun.
The interactive fiction point has me wishing they'd made PoE mobile into like a visual novel or something, rather than trying to recreate the same game on a small screen.
i think that's a great idea!
They finally going to buff melee? I was ready to give up and league start explosive arrow
No way should grave crafting be core
I just want Impending Doom back man. No other build hits the same for me.
Play it on Elementalist with fire. Paak_HC has a great guide for it. Super fun to map and bossing is decent, not an Uber killer but can do pinnacle just fine
What i want for this league is a market where you dont have to wait for the other player to give you the item to trade for it, want it insta.
yea thats not happening, it will destroy the economy
this dude looks like is between 23 years old and 64 years old
because he literally is lmao
Looking forward to watching your videos is what I'm looking forward to this league!!
If you give assassin the ruthless version of Toxic Delivery the playrate would instantly skyrocket.
I'd like an occultist DoT and chaos damage build to be even close to as capable as an elementalist or minion build.
Crucible crafting was worst. Seems like everyone blocked the memory of that
I send the chaos dot love. Your bane build was my first one in POE, I'd love to revisit it with the knowledge I have now. But I will definitely roll Gladiator if they fix that!
Looking yoked sir
I think most fun of farming was gone because of this long ass stall with the Atlas tree and it need overhaul but for that to happen we need an actual expantion like Siege of the Atlas
Kinda funny how the last time gladiator was meta was expedition league.
agree with all your point, lets hope ggg make this league great.
Nice video! Good thoughts!
Planning on a video how to transition from a league starter to soulrend of the spiral? Was the best build i ever played...could do everything and still was tanky.
I haven't watched the video yet, but I bet he says "buff chaos dot."
LE is just better for the casual player like myself who wants a change.
bros getting huge
Been hitting the gym ??
That's why I was thinking he's looking pretty jacked. Fair play.
Where's that Aero/Arrow(sp?) vid you were gonna link if you remembered?

th-cam.com/video/qviXiW7rHws/w-d-xo.html I'm assuming it's this.
Hyped for Thursday
affrication was so good i miss it
Thx to Necropolis , I had to buy 5 quad tabs which I have never thought of buying . GGG : Mission accomplished!! =.=
People who ditched necropolis absolutely missed out, you’ll never be able to easily get 5 t’s on your items again, never be able to do 3 fractures on one item, you can easily craft end game gear, it was crazy.. people who said it was too difficult is small brain with skill issue..
Eye of Seal is so Classic. Haha
The big money has always been in selling maps because they have trash drops.
i want to not instantly when linking my minions as guardian....oh woops i linked to my aura bot from my acendancy, guess i DIE!
Lacerate glad surely meta next league
Didnt they say they changed how they would make leagues around 2 years ago?
Something about not doing the big expansions anymore but doing more incremental endgame changes.
Like f.i. the T17 they added this league.
I might be wrong here though.
Necropolis was so bad, I stopped after a week and a half. Praying for Boat league.
The video they released today had no stones? Anyone else find that odd? All favored slots and no stones?
Man I would love if they made Glad something viable a beast a bleeding machine I tried to cook with Lacerate of Haemorrhage last league, but poet's pen felt way better to play so ended up with going that. I would love to revisit Lacerate of Haemorrhage if they made it or Gladiator feel better.
8:17 this atlas was beautiful
I have no hope at this point. Last two leagues GGG blew it so bad.
What I really want is a buff to Contagion Essence Drain build
I was playing it for the 1st time in Necropolis... and now it's my favourite build to use
It's fun, but it needs to be stronger to compete at all with meta builds
I just want recombinators and sentinels back
QoL for GGG basically just means either fixing bugs, adding much-needed accessibility options or making changes they could've done literally years ago. I hate using that word, but it's cringe.
It's really, really hard for me to care about next league if it doesn't shake up the meta tremendously. And it won't.
I see you Cammy's theme
I'm friends with plenty of necromancers
Craft leagues are usually not fun, because their mechanics take you out of the gameloop and make you focus on optimizing the crafting RNG. If you land the good result you're happy but generally you don't look forward to these activities unless you're a hideout warrior.
By the eyes of zeal indeed! Too funny.
I might be wrong here, but it sounds like you just want to play standard league then
Then play standard
if you spent 3 hours to do a craft, do you mean spending that time in the gy and setting up the craft? because you didnt need to do that. or do you mean including buying the corpses? Because I did like crazy good crafts just grinding t16 and then everyone now and then spent like 15 minutes in the gy and making a craft that was completely insane.
using the third party crafting tool was unnessessary to say the least. sure every craft I did wasnt mirror tier, but I still managed to make like one 1.1k dps staff, a 1k axe, etc.
spending 3 hours to craft something, thats on you imo.
If they make slams viable i may even come back to the game
Two hand buffs slam buffs and im happy
i did 0 necropolis crafts other than basically using it as an alch early on.
same, just used it to get a starting scepter for RF and never touched it again. by this point in the league I dont even notice corpses dropping, my brain auto filters them out.
Did a 6 t1 perfect ele bow week 1 then i was like... hum... what do i do now league over? 😂
Maybe I'm a poe simp, but I liked 3.24. I dont play as much as many, but I try to get my 38/40 if life allows it
