One of my favorite songs ever by this legendary band. How well I recall how wonderful Over the Hill and Far Away sounded in concert at Madison Square Garden on July 27, 1973, I had 10th row orchestra seats and it was one of the most exciting concerts I ever saw. I still have the stub somewhere. Couldn't throw that one out! Yes, Jay, this song showcases both Led Zeppelin's hard side and their softer side.
@@jameshouston2174 What a show! If not mistaken, they opened with Rock and Roll, went into Black Dog, and Over the Hills and Far Away may have been the next song. The entire orchestra was on its feet, in fact, as I recall, the entire orchestra had to stand on their chairs for much of the show. The only time people sat was during Moby Dick. I love reading other people's comments about their experiences. Those of us old enough to remember vinyl albums and the importance that they had on generations is pretty important. It is something most younger folks today did not experience and won't understand buying an album, bringing it home, putting the needle on the record and sitting on the floor in your bedroom mesmerized by the album covers and liner notes, reading the lyrics and listening to the music with such intent & purpose and wanting know every song on the album. Today people are fed songs, specifically designed to you so that you rarely get the full understanding of a band or artist's work. Many times the other songs on an album that radio did not play were so much better. B-sides on 45's were often times some of the coolest songs and we were fortunate to have radio DJ's that had the freedom to play what they wanted, not what corporate radio demanded so we were treated to songs that we may not have heard. Those days are gone and many of us look back fondly on them. Music, thankfully, brings us together and it has been such a treat watching you both grow into the music of the past. Keep it up!
My uncle turned me onto Led Zeppelin at age 5 and I’m 54 now still listening to Led Zeppelin and still loving it! My uncle passed away in 2003 and we played Stairway to Heaven and the Rain Song at his funeral. I turned my son onto to Led Zeppelin at 5 and he is 13 now and plays drums just like I did and my uncle sang and played guitar so music is in our blood. Thank-You Led Zeppelin for literally being the soundtrack to our lives!

Can you believe when I was 14 years old I stayed home to listen to my dad's Led Zeppelin albums? I didn't go to the movie theater or the mall when my friends asked to join. No, I preferred to stay at home next to the CD player. I still don't regret it.
John Bonham was my inspiration to play drums. Great song, love the way Zeppelin would get you started then break out outta nowhere and rock you out. I agree with Jay Plant's bluesy soul shows in his vocals.
I had this album (actually I had them all). Jimmy Page is AWESOME on the guitar. He played on the BBC when he was just a kid. When John Bonham died in 1980 (he drank himself to death), the band broke up. They knew they had something special and that without Bonham, it was over. He was irreplaceable. I remember the day he died. I was a teenager and I actually cried my eyes out.

This album was a bit of a departure from their previous album and included a real mix of songs. You should check out the haunting, ethereal "No Quarter" off this album. It has an absolutely KILLER riff.
In 1974, I was in 6th grade. My teacher was in her first year of teaching. We had a “free day” to do anything we wanted. I brought this album from my brother’s’ collection. My teacher always thought I was a little bit odd or old for my age. She was very fond of me. (just ask me) …. the look on her face when I started to play this album, she was absolutely astonished.
All Zep songs are Amazing. The phrase "..How much there is to know.." still makes me ponder as my mind wanders....for a trippy minute. I'm 62 and still love All of these songs!
When I was young, I played Led Zeppelin every day and now that I'm the opposite of young, I still listen to Zep every day. Their music has aged well and demands your attention.
This is one of their best songs IMO. I absolutely love it! It’s one of my all time favorite Led Zeppelin songs which is really saying something since they have such an incredible catalogue of songs! I suggest your next next adventure down the Zep rabbit hole should be another one of my favorites ~ Ten Years Gone. ✌️❤️
Every time I hear this, I'm transported back to '73, driving around in my car with this album cranked up. And I also think about the girl I had a crush on.
"Over the hills, and far away" has one of the greatest lines ind rock and roll. 'Many is a word, that only leaves you guessing. Guessing about a thing, you really ought to know'. Think about it. One helluva line.
Led Zeppelin's music is so multi dimensional. I think it is awesome that you can experience and enjoy yesterday's music. My grandparents probably wouldn't have allowed this album in their house, but that is because they couldn't understand what all the "noise" was about. Like you said, all of the guys in Led Zeppelin could have had a career on their own...so it is so extra special to have all that talent in just one band. They had it all! My older brother is the one who introduced me to "The Who", "Black Sabbath", "Deep Purple", and so much more. I was still a little girl when he was a teenager. I love the 60's and 70's. While there were some very talented bands in the 80's, music styles changed in subtle ways. Thank you for bringing my old albums to life again in this computerized and technological world of today. They did it all without all the tweaking in voice and sound. They really WERE that good that they didn't need it.
I love this song. It's in my top 10 of Zep songs. Jimmy's guitar work is so good. Please do, Bring it on home next. Robert's harmonica playing will surprise you
I'm loving how you're both loving the music that I grew up on! It's really hard to say which group was the best... They were all so different. It all depended on what mood you were in. Led Zeppelin is top tier and will probably always be my number one group.
I remember going to band camp freshman year. We all had name buttons we made ourselves. This junior trumpet player's button had "Mellow is the man" written across the top. I asked him what that meant, and he told me about this song, and Led Zeppelin. That was circa 1981. Been my favorite ever since.
"Fool in the rain" by Led Zeppelin should be your next song by them. Legendary drums. It's the shuffle beat that all rock songs are judged by. Kinda like "Roxanna" by Toto. Even has some piano too. Song has a completely different sound than what you usually hear from LZ.
You two HAVE GOT TO DO Fool In The Rain. It will blow your minds,it's like no Led Zeppelin song you've ever heard before. This is one of my all time favorite Zeppelin tunes, btw.
@@brianmcmaster5112 Me too, definitely. Just starting it from In the Evening and letting it play til the end, did it so many times. For me it's a total experience, the whole album. Ok, not going to lie, I don't love Hot Dog, but they had fun doing it, lol.
Zeppelin always delivered an experience...my dad had this album and played it over and over. Thank you guys for reacting to this, brings back great memories
Awesome music to grow up with just an iconic sound from a great group. Led Zeppelin is just so iconic and free feeling. They set the standard in rock music and this song is epic. The 70's was just a great time to grow up being a teen.
Another song that's kind of like this and also just a huge fan favorite like this one, is called Ramble On, if you haven't done it already. Everything about it is totally amazing, just like in this one. I love what John Bonzo is doing with that heavy kick drum and closing hi-hat on the off beats, and then combined with JPJ's Incredible bass line, it adds this really funky feel to it but it's still heavy but it's also still light and wandering, it's just a fantastic combination.
It's so validating to see reaction videos of different generations and cultures who love our music! I wish I knew then that I was born/grew up in an incredible time for music! I took it for granted and now all my heroes are old or passing away.😢 I wish I could go back and see these bands a lot more than I did!
My first love used to sing this song to me in the late 70's, We broke up in 1979 and I still miss him to this day. The first cut is truly the deepest....
Yep. This is definitely one of Led Zep's bestest tunes. I'm not always a fan of Plant's screechy vocals but this is one of the few songs where it actually (kinda) works for me. As always, however; the musicianship is on point. The rhythm section (Bonham and Jones) is impeccable.
This is my 2nd favorite Zeppelin song after Stairway. Both the acoustic and electric guitar work is just incredible. Jimmy Page is a genius. Much love ❤️
Songs like this one is why they left so many other bands scratching their heads.
Indeed, well put.
It is maybe my favorite somg of theirs although it's so hard to rank them in their awesomeness

Robert Plant had a Grammy winning album with Allison Krauss, a bluegrass star instrumentalist and singer.
Love you guys! Nice to know younger folks are listening to music I grew upm with... I'm 76 yrs old and still love 'em all!! Thank You!
Led zeppelin music makes you feel the need to share it with the world....only Zeppelin can that
Every time I hear this, I'm transported back to '73, driving around in my car with this album cranked up. And I also think about the girl I had a crush on.
This is such a freakin great song by Zeppelin.
Yes!! One of my favorites. It's a joy to see you grooving to it for the first time. Like most Zeppelin songs, it takes you on journey.
Amber, you had such a look of contentment on your face while listening to this song. 😊 You were born for this music.
"Over the hills, and far away" has one of the greatest lines ind rock and roll. 'Many is a word, that only leaves you guessing. Guessing about a thing, you really ought to know'. Think about it. One helluva line.
This clavinet part at the end of the song is surreal and magical!
You got it! The synthesis of electric and acoustic. Zed Zeppelin's trade mark!
It's good to see the youngins appreciating the music I grew up with
Led Zeppelin's music is so multi dimensional.
Love it! It’s acoustic, it’s electric, it’s eccentric, and still plugged in to my brain at 69🎸🎼🤺
What a huge smile I have on my face right now! Man I love this band!!!
Led Zeppelin, The Who, Pink Floyd spoiled me as a kid. What an incredible soundtrack for a kid to grow up with. Thank you.
I love this song. It's in my top 10 of Zep songs. Jimmy's guitar work is so good. Please do, Bring it on home next. Robert's harmonica playing will surprise you
Yes, harmonica from Robert is great but on another level on Nobodies Fault But Mine...absolutely kills it! 👍
@@steddie4514 Definitely! I love Nobody's fault but mine
I'm loving how you're both loving the music that I grew up on! It's really hard to say which group was the best... They were all so different. It all depended on what mood you were in. Led Zeppelin is top tier and will probably always be my number one group.
Definitely one of my top songs its a masterpiece in my opinion its a buffet of sound in a song
Love Zeppelin and this song.
Zeppelin always made great albums and soundscapes. Always set a mood and made people rock hard
You two HAVE GOT TO DO Fool In The Rain. It will blow your minds,it's like no Led Zeppelin song you've ever heard before. This is one of my all time favorite Zeppelin tunes, btw.
Yes, the whole In Through the Out Door album is so incredible.
@@jenniferfoster1692 It's one of my top 3 Led Zeppelin records, easy
@@brianmcmaster5112 Me too, definitely. Just starting it from In the Evening and letting it play til the end, did it so many times. For me it's a total experience, the whole album. Ok, not going to lie, I don't love Hot Dog, but they had fun doing it, lol.
@@jenniferfoster1692It was a very transitional record for Zeppelin and a hint of things to come had they not lost Bonzo.
@@jenniferfoster1692 Love Carrouselambra
This song was my introduction to Led Zeppelin many years ago, and I've been hooked ever since.
Thank Goodness, my older sister who 11yrs old, & was into all the Great Rock Stars of the 60's & 70's during the time when we were growing up!!
This is one of my favorites from Zeppelin.
YES! One if my favorite Led Zeppelin tunes!
THIS was the first song that introduced me to Zep so many years ago.
My favorite rock band of all time. All four are heads & shoulders above everyone else.
pfft finally, yes its good
He was also in the Honey Drippers Amber will love the song Sea of Love by the Honey Drippers..
It's so validating to see reaction videos of different generations and cultures who love our music! I wish I knew then that I was born/grew up in an incredible time for music! I took it for granted and now all my heroes are old or passing away.😢 I wish I could go back and see these bands a lot more than I did!
My favorite Zeppelin song...great reaction! 🎉
Definitely one of their best songs.
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Rock And Roll" and "Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman)"!!!
“ No Quarter” from the same album! Ohhhh yesssss.
You should give Achilles Last Stand a listen. It really showcases John Bonham's drum skills...God tier! ❤
You guys made me smile today with this one.
Temple of the Dog has a solid cover of it
Yes. One of Bonham's best
absolutely. that might be the pinnacle of Bonzo's drumming, for sure. but i especially love how joyful his drumming is on Fool In The Rain.
That's a good one
Led Zep 4 is their best album. Every song on it is a masterpiece.
Led Zeppelin AMAZING!!!!
Led Zeppelin is one of my all time favorite Rock bands. I'm 38 and can sing this song word for word
My first love used to sing this song to me in the late 70's, We broke up in 1979 and I still miss him to this day. The first cut is truly the deepest....
I hear he founded the Backstreet Boys Fan Club, so it was for the best!
My favorite Led Zep song.
The four members of Led Zeppelin are virtuosos. They are the best of all time.Zepplin forever.🥁👍
Yep. This is definitely one of Led Zep's bestest tunes. I'm not always a fan of Plant's screechy vocals but this is one of the few songs where it actually (kinda) works for me. As always, however; the musicianship is on point. The rhythm section (Bonham and Jones) is impeccable.
One of my fav Zeppelin songs. Love the intro.
This is my 2nd favorite Zeppelin song after Stairway. Both the acoustic and electric guitar work is just incredible. Jimmy Page is a genius. Much love ❤️
You have to listen on Vinyl with big 70s headphones to get the real feeling of this music
