This is why a lot of Granblue's designs are very early Squaresoft like. The sketchbook aesthetic to the weapon design is mostly because of how Yoshida works. It's not only that too. A lot of ex- Square Enix developers migrated to Cygames. Akihiko Yoshida absolutely loves Nier and Drag-On Dragoon. This is why I think you love a lot of the Granblue character designs, Max.
They put the actual combos of the original game into her move set, and works perfectly. Even one of the POD skills and her perfect timed dodge. Nier Automata is one of my favorite games and i'm so happy to see how they made her in GBVSR

Granblue Fantasy Versus is a 3 year almost 4 year old game, it's not "early", in fact it's actually extremely late to have a crossover 4 years past a game's life span
2B's song in this trailer is a remix of a song from Automata, Weight of the World. Specifically a remix of the "Nouveau-FR Version" (or the Chaos Version, as some might call it) from what I could hear.
I think it has less to do with the fact that 2B was in Soul Caliber and more with the fact that Cygames helped with Nier Automata (they usually assist Square Enix A LOT since well they kinda got birthed by Square Enix employees) so obviously there would be a collab
SC is owned by Bandai Namco, 2B is owned by Square Enix, he might have been part of the reasons but he is the CEO of NA not JP so most likely he wasnt even involved in the deals in Japan between Cygames and Square especially since Granblue Collabs a lot of times in the mobile game with other Franchises (we had FF11, Jujutsu Kaisen, One piece etc)@@flashtheshapeshafter

I never expected 2B for GBVSR, not because it's unheard of, but because I expected a character from a collab that's already happened in the mobile game before a whole new collab unique to the fighting game. And it's a present surprise, I have a friend having a character crisis and 2B will instantly fix it.
Met Okubo before SCVI released at evo, he was super cool. Talking to Harada and Murray and I had no idea he was just out of my peripheral view. I mention how I'm super happy to see SCVI and I really want Raphael. Murray turned to him and Okubo had the biggest smile and signed my SCVI poster after Murray asked him. lol Glad he's doing well, great dude.
The mobile game also has tons of awesome crossover events so it's really not surprising that the fighting game would have amazing guest characters. I wouldn't be surprised if we got more anime/video game guest characters.

When the promotion ends(usually two to three weeks after release) then you can do whatever you want with her. Always try to sell your bundles whenever you can, always.
I think one of the things that makes this game look so good compared to other games they've done recently is how the characters themselves pop against the backgrounds. It's just easier, at least for me, to track characters than it is in a LOT of modern fighting games. Higher graphical fidelity has led to a lot of visual noise in the scenes. Something they do here for a semi-depth-of-field kind of effect makes the characters pop so much more clearly.
That's something Arcsys in general nails pretty well. I know a lot of stages during the launch of Guilty Gear Strive suffered from washed out colours, however they seem to have fixed that issue with the DLC stages later on. You can see a big difference in colour variety in Baiken and Asuka's stages. Dragonball FighterZ backgrounds technically don't have a problem with blending in the background, it's moreoso that a lot of stages feel bland as a background (I don't have much to look at with the Cell Games arena for example).
I had forgotten about FighterZ for some reason. I also know even things like Street Fighter 6 in the early stages of betas and trailers, the characters had a weird effect where they felt like they were green-screened on to the stages. It's a tougher thing to do than it used to be, to make interesting stages but also not TOO interesting. I still hate when I see people pick the Buckler Arena stage and a Blue and Yellow costume in SF6 cause it's just hard to then see what's going on. I'm sure that's why they do it though...

it's worth noting that those outfits are bonuses for the original gacha game, not for vs. it's the same situation as a couple of the DLC characters from the original VS (for example, Zooey gave a skin that made it so you could have her permanently in her dragon fused boss form)
For funny lore-- they have a group of characters in the Moon that are basically Yorha except instead of robots, they're all biological beings where getting pulped isn't that bad and they just rebuild themselves over the coarse of a few hundred years
My favorite 2B cameo to date is still FFXIV. They used an entire expansion's alliance raid series for nier automata. I think PGR comes in at a close second, but maybe it's cause of the gameplay.
@Khann_2102 yea it has a pretty big audience and they sell lots of merch. I have been playing on and off for about 8 years now. Its one of the more accessible gacha games in my opinion super beginner friendly and really cool events and collabs.
She has easily the most timeless and well designed appearance of any character or at least female character I've ever seen. It has simple details like the pattern on her chest, and complex details like the pattern on her skirt. She has excellent color contrast with black and white. White hair specifically is an iconic style choice for hair. Black blindfold is extremely iconic. Gothic lolita fashion with a NieR style twist to it. Has an easily recognized silhouette And just being really attractive without having a provocative outfit or appearance. She perfectly displays artistic choices that come together to make an unforgettable character design. Her being an amazingly well written character is just the icing on the cake.
There's another reason why 2B can easily picked by cygames, nier automata's art direction was handled by cydesignation; a sub company of same parent of cygames that also handle a lot of artwork of other non cygames' games Like the critically acclaimed MMO FFXIV :))
I know it'll never happen, but I really wish we could just get a Taroverse Arksys fighter. Like imagine having a game with 2B, A2, Caim, both the Father AND Brother from Nier using different weapons and Weiss spells, Kaine, Zero and her dragon, Emil... Like Drakengard 3's Intoners alone could fill out a roster. And then you add in crap like the King of Facade and his guards or Devola/Popola for the really wild out-there fighting styles, it would be so fucking good, dude!
@@Sear2681 Studio S (the team at Bamco that helped Sakurai with 3DS/Wii U & Ultimate) is currently hiring for a side-view action game. Given that most of their track record is Smash & the Switch 2 is apparently coming late next year, Smash 6 has likely already begun development. The fact that Sakurai has slowed down his TH-cam video output since this past summer (which he usually films months in advance) lends further credence towards this. Either way, Smash will always keep going as long as it keeps selling. Like Sakurai said, the series is too important to Nintendo for them to ever let it end. Saying that Smash is over is like saying Mario Kart or Animal Crossing are over, Nintendo isn’t gonna end one of their biggest system-sellers.
Granblue Mobile Game has been known to have Collab with Various Series for a while now, so I guess the Fighting Game is gonna follow this up by having one per season Collab Characters

Granblue is having one of the best reboots/comebacks in fighting game history rn i swear. Never played granblue and bought this one, the game is amazing, the neutral is so fun.
I mean, she was also in Nikke, Nakara Bladepoint, Octopath Traveler, Phantasy Star Online 2 and FF14, from memory at least... the outfit itself is also everywhere
I have been playing the OG GBF since high school in like 2010-ish. Never would I have ever imagined that my cute browser Gacha would have grown so much over the years or see Max playing it. Cygames always shows cares for GBF even if it is not always their biggest game, and I am happy that Arc System works made the game as a very comfortable introduction to what GBF is. Granted, players who join the gacha will be surprised how different some characters are from what VS showed. Mostly Vira who is still portrayed as the "Super Creepy and insane Yandere waifu" when that hasn't been true for the last 3 or for years. We could, indeed, fix her.
*Watches 2B, Kratos and Spawn put their hands in the middle* Three characters who were first guest characters in Soul Calibur before moving into another Fighting Game IP altogether. Mind you it was still nice to see Kratos and Spawn in Mortal Kombat, but 2B showing up here feels like a puzzle piece that just fit in perfectly.

For me, it have to be Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail. Imagine her using requip magic to her Heaven's Wheel armor, her flame empress armor, purgatory armor, or her lighting empress armor. I pick her to be a guess fighter. Not to mention Natsu Dragneel (maybe). I can imagine these two Fairy Tail wizards having a battle like that. Hey, a man can dream.

I think a bigger point of contention is that their willing doing to do collab characters and man Granblue has been around. Tales, Street Fighter, Priconne, Persona 5, various popular anime franchises. They could be willing put anyone in at this point. Hell I wouldn't be suprised if any of the Arcsys franchises are on the table now. Blazblue, Guilty Gear and Undernight.
I’ve really been enjoying this game. Been a long time since I snag a fighter to play with friends and online. Was so glad I still had my arcade stick from injustice one! Looking forward to the new character’s and I’ll have to hop on and challenge the “Dude” himself. And laugh as I’m destroyed.

Its not that deep they have collabed with so many mobile and AAA studios already they always down for a crossover

@Khann_2102 yea it has a pretty big audience and they sell lots of merch. I have been playing on and off for about 8 years now. Its one of the more accessible gacha games in my opinion super beginner friendly and really cool events and collabs.

2B is literally one of the few RPG characters that can fit in any fighting game universe and not look out of place.
She has easily the most timeless and well designed appearance of any character or at least female character I've ever seen.
It has simple details like the pattern on her chest, and complex details like the pattern on her skirt. She has excellent color contrast with black and white. White hair specifically is an iconic style choice for hair.
Black blindfold is extremely iconic.
Gothic lolita fashion with a NieR style twist to it.
Has an easily recognized silhouette
And just being really attractive without having a provocative outfit or appearance.
She perfectly displays artistic choices that come together to make an unforgettable character design.
Her being an amazingly well written character is just the icing on the cake.
2B looks absolutely astonishing in Arc Sys graphics!

There's another reason why 2B can easily picked by cygames, nier automata's art direction was handled by cydesignation; a sub company of same parent of cygames that also handle a lot of artwork of other non cygames' games

@@Sear2681 Studio S (the team at Bamco that helped Sakurai with 3DS/Wii U & Ultimate) is currently hiring for a side-view action game. Given that most of their track record is Smash & the Switch 2 is apparently coming late next year, Smash 6 has likely already begun development. The fact that Sakurai has slowed down his TH-cam video output since this past summer (which he usually films months in advance) lends further credence towards this.
Either way, Smash will always keep going as long as it keeps selling. Like Sakurai said, the series is too important to Nintendo for them to ever let it end. Saying that Smash is over is like saying Mario Kart or Animal Crossing are over, Nintendo isn’t gonna end one of their biggest system-sellers.
Granblue Mobile Game has been known to have Collab with Various Series for a while now, so I guess the Fighting Game is gonna follow this up by having one per season Collab Characters
So just to note, GBF has done crossovers with (and special thanks to Tv Tropes for this list) Slayers, Street Fighter, iDOLM@STER, the Tales series, Sakura Wars, Samurai Showdown, Shadowverse, Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu, Cardcaptor Sakura, Attack on Titan, Detective Conan, Persona 5, Love Live, Pretty Cure, Princess Connect, Code Geass, Gachapin, Demon Slayer, Bobobo, Gintama, Doraemon, Uma musume, Final Fantasy XI, One Piece, Sanrio, and Jujustu Kaisen.

@7:56 you can play soccer in the lobby. It's good that the lobby actually works and functions but getting to just jam like that is one of the funnest things I've done in an arcsys lobby. These two things make it the best lobby.

I have been playing the OG GBF since high school in like 2010-ish. Never would I have ever imagined that my cute browser Gacha would have grown so much over the years or see Max playing it.
Cygames always shows cares for GBF even if it is not always their biggest game, and I am happy that Arc System works made the game as a very comfortable introduction to what GBF is.
Granted, players who join the gacha will be surprised how different some characters are from what VS showed. Mostly Vira who is still portrayed as the "Super Creepy and insane Yandere waifu" when that hasn't been true for the last 3 or for years. We could, indeed, fix her.
Granblue mobile game could be the game which has craziest collab ever, and my expectation for the future of GBVS collab after this is sky rocket

Three characters who were first guest characters in Soul Calibur before moving into another Fighting Game IP altogether. Mind you it was still nice to see Kratos and Spawn in Mortal Kombat, but 2B showing up here feels like a puzzle piece that just fit in perfectly.

For me, it have to be Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail. Imagine her using requip magic to her Heaven's Wheel armor, her flame empress armor, purgatory armor, or her lighting empress armor. I pick her to be a guess fighter. Not to mention Natsu Dragneel (maybe). I can imagine these two Fairy Tail wizards having a battle like that. Hey, a man can dream.

I think a bigger point of contention is that their willing doing to do collab characters and man Granblue has been around. Tales, Street Fighter, Priconne, Persona 5, various popular anime franchises. They could be willing put anyone in at this point. Hell I wouldn't be suprised if any of the Arcsys franchises are on the table now. Blazblue, Guilty Gear and Undernight.

I’ve really been enjoying this game. Been a long time since I snag a fighter to play with friends and online. Was so glad I still had my arcade stick from injustice one! Looking forward to the new character’s and I’ll have to hop on and challenge the “Dude” himself. And laugh as I’m destroyed.
