I have used those carts here in Lynnwood WA for a year now and they are definitely great to use when the store is busy and I can get out without waiting in line to checkout, but you’ll have to stop at the customer desk if you have alcohol

In the event there are tons of shoppers, there will be bound to many user errors and that will required assistance. I mean, good idea trying to make shopping more streamlined, but I think there’s a more efficient way way without the costs and maintenance of these carts.

I dont trust credit cards or banks. We need a better system alternative to banking. I had more then one experience where the banking system didnt work and i couldnt pay for anything.
I'm pretty sure the people who put this into public circulation did not give a single rats ass about the people who actually use it. Where are the kids going to go? Can the kids fuck up the technology? What constitutes as a "personal item" and what prevents confusion with that, what prevents people from making products look like personal items, and vice versa? What prevents the cart from being stolen? There are carts without any technology in them that are being stolen or just plain lost on a regular basis, there have been attempts to fix this buy making carts require a coin or something in order to be unlocked for use so to get the coin back you have to return the cart, but people STILL steal those carts. How on earth is this practical for a company AT ALL? Just because a customer CAN scan the item doesn't mean they WILL. The cart may be weight sensitive, but that doesn't prevent a person from carrying a bag outside of the cart. To make matters even worse, this is a cart that is literally designed for not only stealing items with ZERO risk, but also for stealing personal information. Hackers designed gadgets to put over card readers so they steal your information just by scanning your card or in some cases all you have to do is stand too close and the device will try to steal your information anyway. Not only is scanning your phone or whatever a big risk, but they put the scanner in a place where hackers can hide whatever the fuck the want without the user ever seeing it. Also, that cart, with all of that technology, is literally like pushing around a cash register everywhere, its gotta be way heavier than a normal cart, so the second you start putting any real amount of groceries in it, i bet it's gonna be one heck of a workout. Then, considering whole foods is popular among sick or old people... those guys REALLY did not think that through. Then, what happened to using cash, im pretty sure that thing doesn't accomodate for that. I could go on forever. But the gist is, these guys just put a mini computer on wheels and put a bunch of them on the street for free, and are encouraging even more theft in ALL sorts of ways.
