The name of that ship as an easter egg actually comes from George himself. Its mentioned in the Kingsmoot chapters as the ship of Baelor Blacktyde. I like that PJ kept it around though.

Easily in the top three of the Project's chapters! Everyone knocked it out of the park. Honestly, I can't see how George could do any better for the Battle of Blood. Hats off!
@@almsahrah I'd say number 3 is Alayne II, number 2 is The Harrower, and number 1 is The Prince's Justice. The Bravo is probably number 4 for me, though.
The apocalyptic chaos when the krakens attack is unlike anything I've read before. It had me feeling afraid. The chapters are just getting better and better
Aeron initially seems like one of the most unlikable characters in the early books, and again during his first POV’s in Feast, but over time you really start to see how sympathetic and sad his story is. It’s a shame we’ll never see it adapted to screen.
Utterly spectacular. "Make it stop, Aeron prayed, not for the first time. Make it stop. Let me die." "Where the arms all met the flesh was white, pale as a corpse in the light of the moon. Within were its teeth: a circle of them, black and pointed, like a thousand ravens’ beaks. They moved and wiggled as the mouth grew wide and wider and wider still. In all his years, he had never imagined something so alien or so terrible. The face of the kraken. The last thing he would ever see. Save me, he prayed. The beast twitched and let out a squeal. And Aeron Greyjoy fell into a bath of blood. Into the sea. Finally, he was passing back into the hand of the Drowned God. But all he could think was: A harrower’s gift." I like how it leaves the possibility that aeron might not actually die, a worse fate may await him as he truly meets The Drowned God
Framing the chapter around the five Hells was brilliant. If I could make a suggestion, this should have ended with the Curb Your Enthusiasm credits music
As always, endless props to everyone involved in this. When it’s all done I’m gonna have it printed out and read it like it’s really winds. You guys are excellent at giving us GRRM-esque prose. Super impressive.
Incredible chapter. Ill need to relisten a few times, theres so much to digest. I even teared up when aeron started on about falia flowers. The tiniest bit of hope and humanity in a powerfully dark chapter.
I do hope the Drowned God hears Aeron's prayers and is not done with him yet and has a purpose for him...... I totally want Aeron's next chapter to be him washed up onto a bloody shore, maybe even as a "Water Wight" imbued with a mission...... And to give us a view of the aftermath of this Battle of Blood.....
The action and imagery is obviously impressive but the character work is simply phenomenal. The Damphair coming to terms with the farce of his life as he faces death is masterful stuff.
Been loving the descriptions of big/fantastical animals in these chapters! The elephants from the JonCon one and now krakens are so evocative and larger than life. Really emulates how GRRM writes monsters very well. Also the lore on the five hells is really cool! Great descriptions of malformed human/animal hybrids! Great job to all of the writers!
thank you for doing this. this is probably the closest we will ever get to twow. still hoping though, as george hates fan fic, that a lot of good fan fic will provoke him enough to write the damn book
That little bit about Aerion wanting to hold and comfort her at the beginning was hella sweet. And honestly really unexpected for something out of a George-like work. I honestly think that might have been my favorite part about this chapter.
It's a very minor point, but medieval european societies did view queen bees as being kings, because they couldn't conceptualise of a matriachal system, and they hadn't quite figured out the reproductive cycle for them yet.
Preston, you beauty! And everyone else working on this. Cant believe how sad im feeling for Aeron. Poor guy. I didn't get the end though. Does the kraken swallow him or does he go into the sea?
@@chandlerdoeswhatifs9399 This is a Song of Ice and Fire there's a fake out death at the end of every other chapter, with Preston Quentyn is alive Jacobs leading this project. I won't believe Aeron's dead until we get 5 paragraphs of him going through the kraken's digestive track in Sam's pov.
I thought it was pretty explicit that the kraken was hit by something so dropped him into the sea instead of eating him though I may have misunderstood.
@@mitchellhouser1572 Ya Preston implied in a talking about video that it was likely hit with a harpoon or something. Who was the mad lad that fired a harpoon at a kraken I don't know but God speed.
Such a great chapter ! Still wondering what was Euron's plan to survive the kraken apocalypse lol. I know you said that the next Sam chapter will be in Volantis but honestly, it would be the perfect time to have a pov at the top of the hightower to give a different perspective on the battle and the consequences (also the fact the biggest part of Euron's fleet are probably attacking the Redwynes in the back)
Whoever thought about the queen bee saction of Euron's speech, with the 'BUZZZZ' and all, is the a true genious. Well done everyone! if it's indeed the end of our drowned man, you gave him an excellent final break. A true Harrower's work (:
He actually wrote his own book called “Dreams of Ghosts and Indians.” On a stream a couple months ago I think he was saying it is basically all set and just needs to go through one final edit and then is ready to be published. I'm not up to date on his most recent streams so he may have dropped an update since then.
Aeron has some crazy strong willpower to notice all these things whilst strapped to the bow of a boat 😂 let alone have all these theological thoughts and a discussion with Euron
someone needs to show this to george and ask for his blessing, he can just put these chapters in and release the book, then he wont have to worry about it and can enjoy the last years of his life in retirement, oh and yall would need to write dream of spring too ig
This chapter felt like a perfect conclusion to Aeron’s character. Admitting his faults and accepting his failures. I have to wonder what the point is of seemingly keeping him alive at the end I thought the Kraken’s circular set of teeth were mirroring the pit of spike that Bran will climb out of. Aeron falls and dies, where Bran will climb and live
Probably my favorite so far. Thanks PJ and everyone who contributed. Loved how you used all the pieces that were already there to point to Aeron's true form and more Ironborn lore. He's obviously dead, so I'm sure he'll be back and feasting with frogs. 🐸
"Becoming a priest let him preach the Old Way so he didn’t have to live it." Holy smokes what an incredible line!
Yeah, this THE line. The best of GRRMotology: unspeakable physical horrors intermixed with wracking self-accusation.
I continue to love the easter eggs hidden throughout these chapters - bringing back the ship named Nightflyer is an excellent touch!
